 IT'S TOO DARN HOT......

Hi all you lovely Deskers - welcome to another week of sharing and desky snooping to see what amazing crafts we're all making. Link up over at Sarah's if you fancy joining in!

Scorchio - that's the only word I can think of that describes the past week. I just can't cope with heat like that so stayed in the cool of the JanCave with a breeze coming through. I also moved my sewing machine downstairs so (a) I was by the open patio doors and (b) the quilt I was binding could spread over the dining table!!

It was nice to see all those blocks coming together.

Putting the binding on involves some slow stitching, you can't rush with a walking foot!

And Ta-Da.....

It turned out ok, I'm quite pleased with the colour layout. See if this goes at the next market in Pembrey on the 26th. I still love the fact that you can make something beautiful out of leftovers xx

I also did a bit of knitting outside in the shade but it was still too hot for me:

The tennis ball in my knitting box is masquerading as a Terry's Chocolate Orange to block out the snowmen covers to a good shape.

Thankfully, the temps have gone down massively over the past couple of days so I've returned to the JanCave - my mission was to have a mass cutting out session of the curtains that my friend Helen donated recently:

I managed to get 4 beach bags, four totes, five cross body bags, 2 pegbags and three zipped bags, not bad eh?  The lined bags were from a YouTube tutorial:

The cotton is lovely and sturdy so this design didn't need any fusible fleece or interfacing, it was relatively quick to make as well. For the lining I used cotton fabric from a duvet cover found in the Dunelm bargain bin (£10 for a superking size!):

I thought it went well - the bags look perfect for the beach so I might put a couple in the tearoom where they sell my stuff, worth a try! Because every penny really does count, the crew from the Burry Port RNLI were out on 12 shouts over the hot weekend, rescuing people cut off by the tide, jet skiers, separated children and broken down fishing boats.  They're an amazing (and brave) bunch of men and women!

And that's it, hope you've all had a good week and have coped with the heat as best as you could. Have fun crafting over the next few days xx

that latest "leftover" quilt is absolutely beautiful! I am sure it will fly! I saw your FB post about all the rescues the RNLI had; they must find the good weather almost worse than the cold and wet for people getting into difficulties. Stay cool and happy stitching/knitting. Helen #3

Wow, Jan, your quilt is beautiful! Your bags are great, too and I’m sure they’ll sell well.
I hope the drop in temperatures makes it easier for you. We’re arriving home today, all being well.
Happy WOYWW

A brilliant way to use the curtains and the bargain quilt and what a lot you managed to cut out from them. The cooler weather is a relief and makes crafting a bit easier although the fabric of the house seems to have held onto the heat and is now giving it out! x x Jo 🌈

It's cooler here today thank goodness. You would have loved to at the Doncaster show at the weekend, the fabrics were amazing. Loving your quilt and the bag especially as I'm really into denim colours at the moment. Wishing you a cool and happy woyww, Angela x10x

That quilt is like a colour reference for artists! It's amazing, what a joy to have on a bed, or even hang on a wall. How on earth do you price that? Love the curtain makes, you really have a knack for knowing which 'product' will look best in which fabrics. No doubt that the drop in temperature is better for getting stuff done..have been involved with the great nieces a bit recently and so the awning, a large bucket of water and sun hats have been well employed! Those of us that don't live by the sea don't think of good weather causing the RNLI that sort of work, gives me an idea to see if we can find someone to talk to our WI and inform us all!

I just love that beach bag and if I didn't have enough bags I would definitely send for one. The lining is perfect with it and unbelievable at £10 for a superking size!!! Remember my new straw hat? Well, if they don't sell i will eat my hat.
The quilt is great too and I love the sunflowers, they are so bright and cheerful. Some great colours in there.
Chas' mum was always a big supporter of the RNLI, never knew the reason, he didn't either. Morecambe had a good few call outs last weekend too. Must pop a bob or two in the tin on my next walk to the stone pier.
Lovely garden Jan, what a pleasure to sit in the shade and knit.
