 GOLDFINCH IN ITS WAKE

GILDS WITH GRACE

Hello all you lovely Deskers - once again we have our weekly meet up at Sarah's, linking up to see what everyone else is getting up to!

It was a red letter day for me on Saturday, I passed the £10,000 mark with my fundraising, woohoo!! I'm still taken aback by how much I've made by selling my bits and bobs and have to thank many friends for their support.

It was a lovely hall but unfortunately the footfall wasn't great. Nevertheless I made enough to take me past the post and we had a nice day catching up with the other stallholders and some old bandmates of mine!

It's been a busy few days and there hasn't been that much activity in the JanCave:

I had two metres of this pretty cotton and chopped it up into various sizes. It's a strange blue to match and none of my spotty linings went apart from this lilac and lime green, my blues just weren't right!

Life has been busy elsewhere however - we went out for a lovely walk on Father's Day, only locally but the weather was fab. We spotted this sweep of wild orchids:

They normally do grow well around here but this year they are exceptional! It wasn't just in this spot either, they're all over the place:

So pretty, it was a joy to see! We walked through the woods on our way out and returned via the beach:

Rhys took this sneaky shot of us, lol! I use hiking poles for when going over uneven ground, they help my wonky ankle. The tide was just on the turn and we had a happy few minutes watching the kite surfers whizzing over the waves.

Back at home, our bird seed feeder has seen more activity and here was a little bird who made us laugh a lot:

This juvenile goldfinch has been hanging around not entirely sure of how to do things. He's still got a lot of fluffy down under his feathers and he was investigating the fish pond quite closely....

And didn't seem at all certain what to do once he got to the perch! He really made us smile, it's the little things sometimes eh?

Hope you have a marvellous week! xxxxxx

Well done on the landmark fundraising - shame the day wasn't busy at the fair. It's an incredible achievement though. Love the pic of you and G, and walking poles seem a good idea to me. Hope the goldfinch learns what to do soon, he's so cute! Helen #2 Happy WOYWW

Oh those orchids - how amazing to see so many. I love the little goldfinch - we don't get many birds in our garden here. I really miss them as we had loads when we lived up in the Marches hills.x x Jo 🌈

Well done Jan! £10,000 is an amazing achievement! A shame there weren’t many visitors though; I’m glad the Crwbin band came to see you.
You’ve reminded me that I bought hiking poles, I might try them instead of my stick. Your walk looked lovely and the wild orchids are fantastic. I love your baby goldfinch and hope he gets the hang of things soon!
Happy WOYWW , hugs,

Congratulations on reaching such a phenomenal amount! You're amazing! The difficult blue fabric is so pretty. The finished bags will be beautiful, I'm sure. Love the photos from the walk. Since my fall back in March, I've been thinking about getting a pair of stick. Great photos of that cute little bird. Guaranteed to make me smile. Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #15

wow, thats an amazing amount of fundraising you should be very proud and such a great cause too (we are RNLI members and a mate works for them). That goldfinch is brilliant, too, love the way they really puff themselves up when they are young!
