WOYWW 578

GONNA USE IT UP, GONNA WEAR IT OUT....

Thanks to all who have entered my giveaways, it's been great fun and I've enjoyed it very much! There were a lot of entries for the stripey bag, so much so that I did a draw for two totes in the end. So many congrats to:

CARO and LYNNE

Hope you get joy and good use out of them, you lovely gals!

I'm also waving to Debbie Clarke, who has entered and commented on my posts - thanks for reading my nonsense and joining in!

So when I picked Lynne's name out in second place, I though about what fabric I'd choose for her - no contest really......

Out came some of the Oriental stash - Lynne's is foreground, mine is behind.

Finding a lining wasn't straightforward but this denim blue picked out some of the tones, I had to be very creative with how I cut it however, it just managed to get there!

The bit where you pull the outer through a gap in the inner always seems to be backward and you're never quite sure it's going to turn out ok but.....

It usually does! ( I say usually cos there have been times when I've got to this point and realised the pocket is on upside down!!)  I like the golden dragons romping all over the place and enjoyed making this so much, I thought I'd make a bag for me.

The frayed edge selvedge seemed too nice to trim off so I made it into a pocket top and before you know it, a couple of hours had whizzed by and.....

I love this fabric, it reminds me of Persian tiles - I shall enjoy using this once I've wrestled it back off Betty....she's a minx....

Isn't Happy Mail a treat? I was fortunate enough to have two loads this week:
Two jigsaws from Margaret (Glitter & Glue) which came just in time as I'd completed all the recently bought ones - thank you lovely gal!! And a gorgeous doggy Fat Quarter and some artery forceps (!!!!!) from Annie (Wipso). She had read how much I detest stuffing small tubes etc when sewing and knew that these were perfect for the job. You're so kind Annie, I never thought that forceps would become an integral part of my crafting but they will become essential kit! G, however, is starting to look a bit worried, lolol....... ;-)

Thoughtful gifts from thoughtful friends, it made this LLJ very happy indeed xxxxxxx

Hope you have a really lovely week!

Hi Jan
Welll done to the winners and thanks for the wave, I’ve been quietly reading your blog for a long time just not brave enough to comment, your posts are interesting and fun and I’d love to be as talented as you are x

Morning Jan. That bag is great - but I have to say, Betty is getting a bit above herself these days, isn't she! Hope you get your own bag back... Thought the two jiggies might keep you happily occupied for a couple of hours. Forceps scissors... look out G!
Take care dear girl. Stay safe. God bless.

Beautiful bags and lovely fabric. Well done to the winners. Forceps scissors I have some of these and never knew what they are for - inherited from someone or another. When you look in my crafters bag it is a cross between cosmetic/beauty items and sort of stationery. Things like shaving form, make up pads well you know the rest. Ani

Congratulations to the winners and what a gorgeous bag for an Asian fan. Saying that I love yours and that trim on the pocket is just perfect it really lifts it.
Lovely thoughtful friends with wonderful gifts - those jigsaws are quite a feature these days on WOYWW. Wish I had the patience that you all have but I buy jigsaws and never get around to doing them. My 84 year old friend loves them so most find their way to her, sorry.
That Betty is a bit of a minx isn't she? Mind you she does look good with that bag slung over her shoulder.
Hugs, have a lovely week again, Neet 5 xxx

Oh my goodness - forceps?! What an absolutely genius idea! I can see many crafters finding them useful for such things. I adore the partnering of the fabrics on the dragon bag - I would never have thought to put those patterns together but the contrast is delightful! Thank you for your kind words about my Dad - nothing covid related thankfully, more vascular issues which should have been straight forward... but... you know what he's like?! Have a lovely week, Lisa-Jane #15

Oh was a super tote bag, love how you matched the blue dotty fabric to the dragons. Singing the song from the title now too. And what great happy mail as well. Super week for you. Thanks for the visit BJ#23

Hi Jan! I absolutely love everything you make. I love seeing all the cool fabric. Both bags came out beautiful. I like the puzzles you received. I have two that I didn't get to. I was doing them more at the beginning of the pandemic and it was terrible to see how much they had increased the prices for puzzles once we went into lock-down. Might have to stock up on a few when they go on sale in case we go back into full lock-down again. Stay well, my friend.

Hi Jan, congrats to Caro & Lynn on the gorgeous tote bags, and yours as well - all are beautiful. I had to laugh at the forceps - I also have a few surgical implements donated by Mr M from his days as an offshore paramedic- they do come in very handy! Lucky you receiving such lovely gifts in the mail. I have really enjoyed my little shopping spree over the last couple of weeks. I shall make sure I have a bottle of sherry and a bottle of gin in my potting shed. I only tried gin for the first time about 2 weeks ago - I bought a bottle of pink gin that was on offer ... oh dear, I can see me being tipsy among the tulips rather than tiptoe among the tulips! Have a lovely week, Heather xx #16

Lovely, lovely gifts - both given and received, Jan! I love the bags you have made, and the Oriental fabric is a dream. I love the decorative stitching too. All great stuff! Thank you for your visit and your kind words! So glad you like the knitting. If it wasn't for Julia and her UFO challenge, I doubt the green cardigan would have seen the light of day before doomsday, and after 25 years I am thrilled that it is now in my wardrobe waiting for winter so I can wear it, rather than stuffed in a box in my studio.

Happy WOYWW,

Surprise! Tis me...

Happy WOYWW Day my lovely.

Lovely stitching as always - I've actually broken out my sewing machine and made a couple of masks, but mostly for running repairs on Miss B's jeans where she wears them through... sigh.

Congrats to the lucky winners!

I really need to use up much more of my fabric's i'm trying my very best at the moment. Jigsaws have kept my Mother occupied during those long days, great idea to pass them on when completed. Enjoy putting them together, I know you will.

Happy Belated WOYWW. Both of those bags are gorgeous! When I eventually get myself a sewing machine again, making bags will be the first thing I do, especially now I can decorate them using my Cricut. Lots of fantastic happy post too. Enjoy using those forceps! Ali x #18
