SO SPREAD YOUR WINGS AND FLY, BUTTERFLY...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES TO SHAZ AND DOUG BROOKS - HOPE YOU HAVE A FAB DAY!

It has been a quieter week, thank goodness, but we still seem to have packed a lot in. The bathroom is in that scary place where it's looking dreadful before all the new stuff has to go in, the garden was flattened by the high winds but we also had the chance to meet up for Sunday lunch with old friends from Wiltshire who were holidaying locally - that was lovely to catch up with all the news!

I'm still in the JanCave Mk2 therefore!

I've been having a sort out and seeing what stash I have.

And have been making more bunting for the WI Barn dance, glasses cases and purses to have in reserve. That popper kit is one of my favourite things, I'd put them on everything if I could :-D

A Pinterest email showed me a link to make a fabric butterfly - so I had a go as I like doing paper origami. It was very simple but had a nice outcome. Ironing the creases as you go along made a big difference.

I think I need to sew on some beads along the abdomen and then stick a brooch back or something. It takes very little fabric too so is good for using up scraps.

I was given a Hobbycraft voucher for my birthday so had great fun yesterday choosing some lovely new stash!

Isn't that a picture of pastel prettiness?!  I was obviously attracted by those colours - a good amount of lining fabric for my various projects as kind people keep sending me material which is good for 'outers'. Also some lovely yarn, ribbon and a 1000 metres of thread.

That'll keep me quiet for a while......

As will this for my crochet blanket projects. This WI Brand yarn is really great for that. 100% acrylic but nice and soft to work with. They were 3 for 2 as well, so that made me even happier.

And another pastel pic to finish on:

My Old English rose survived the 60mph winds over the weekend - woohoo. I wish we had smello-blog as the scent is glorious. I need to do some dead heading though, lol!!

Have a great week xxxxxxx

Morning Jan. Well, my goodness - what a couple of weeks you have had. Popped over and read last week's post - Congratulations!! Wish I had known your band was up for the Eisteddfod - it was only 15 miles down the valley! I didn't go at all, but my neighbour was there almost every day - being first language Welsh - said what a great week it was, and how many friends and family she caught up with.
Your temporary cave looks great - and all those pieces - what a wonderful time you had in Hobbycraft! Trust the bathroom comes together soon for you.
Take care both of you. God bless.

I know i'm suffering with migraine & my eyesight is extremely poor atm but I have to confess Jan I had to zoom in on your bunting as they looked like *Thongs* at fist glance... eek so sorry hee hee!
You've spent that Birthday voucher very wisely, fabulous eye for colour, the mix is perfection together and that Old English Rose is a very pretty picture! No need for smellivision as my imagination takes me right there.

Hiya Jan, and Thank You!!! Being silly, as always, my first thought when I got to the bunting was you were making bikinis! lol. Maybe a sideline? rofl! Love all the fabrics, the spots and stripes are so pleasing. We've got a very similar looking climbing rose, all finished now for this year. I think It's called Spirit of Freedom, and the Old English ones smell gorgeous, don't they? Love & hugs to you all, Shaz #6 XxXxXX

I really like your curtains and that vintage round table! The Hobby Craft voucher is the perfect present for you - they know you so well - happy belated! Cute fabric butterfly - I have been hijacked by Pinterest emails too in the past! Gorgeous roses - deadheading is so sad but necessary - always reminds me of the circle of life. That's why it's good to take photos when our flowers are in their prime to remember them by! Have a lovely week! zsuzsa #19

Your flowers are gorgeous, what beautiful blooms to end your post on. Prior to that photo there are some beauties showing all your stash, beautiful colours you have an eye for knowing what to choose. Pastel shades always remind me of ice cream for some reason, no idea why and I am not a big ice cream fan either.
Your origami butterfly matches my tissue case. It goes with me all over the place, in fact it swapped bags this morning before I went out. How interesting.
The JanCave Mk2 - what is that blue thing on the table. It looks like some kind of bowl and is a very intriguing shape.
Hope the bathroom is finished before too long at least the furniture is in.
Hugs, Neet 1 xx

What a wonderfully bright and cheerful blog post Jan - I can see how you were attracted to those colours - aren't they luscious. The butterfly is gorgeous, I would definitely put them on sticks to go in the pots of houseplants, and I love your idea turning them into brooches - ooh the possibilities!
I hope your bathroom is soon finished, it's always feels so hectic having building work done I find.
Hope you have a great week, and thank you for your kind wishes for Friday - I'm keeping everything crossed that it doesn't get cancelled!

Such a colorful and vibrant post for you today! Fabric is lovely and your roses... just gorgeous! We also had such winds and also rain. It poured and left 2" of water standing. The blooms succumbed, but my plant looks healthy in the aftermath! Happy Wednesday!

Nice roses and loving all that fabric and yarn. I'm sure I've seen the butterfly before, it's a great technique. Stash sorting is something I will definitely have to do now as we are having the roof altered in my work space and the conservatory so everything has got to be moved soon, just dreading it. Have a lovely woyww, Angela x15x

Fab pic of the roses, I can almost smello them...heaven. Now I need to go and put some of my posh hand cream on! Nice restock of stash from Hobbycraft. Call me what you will but I dont think of those as pastels at all! Love the yarn colours, will make a really nice looking blanket. We had the plumber round to start getting the underfloor heating sorted and it turns out that it will involve taking up carpet and floor in one of the bedrooms. Will it never end? Not the work...the agony of choosing replacements!! Speak soon. Xxxx

Hi Jan, I looked at those fabrics in Hobbycraft when I was making Emily's quilt - but couldn't decide which ones I wanted, so I went to a local fabric shop instead. My roses grow on the embankment, so quite exposed, and have not fared as well as yours. Rose petals are here, there and everywhere! Mr M planted a few new plants up there for me before our holiday, and they appear to have survived the blustering winds, phew! Have a lovely week, hugs Heather xx #25

I am so behind in blogland so have missed why you are up the table but you are still so productive! I love that butterfly! Your roses are gorgeous. I am a hit and miss gardener - I have about 3 days a year where the gardening bug hits so I try and buy plants that take care of themselves. My lavender had gone really brown over the hot spell but it looks like it is fighting back and has some green leaves budding through again thanks to this lovely rain and windy weather.

Hoping to catch up with everyone and be back in blogland more - I miss it!
