WINCHESTER CATHEDRAL
YOU'RE BRINGING ME DOWN
YOU STOOD AND YOU WATCHED AS
MY BABY LEFT TOWN
Very apt lyrics this week but with a completely different meaning from what the composer intended -you see, my son Rhys graduated in Winchester Cathedral yesterday, so it was a happy occasion mixed with sadness that we won't visit Winchester very much in the future. A lovely visit however, proud parent moment!!
It was a fantastic day, we enjoyed ourselves so much - it was also good to meet Becky, Sally and James again. We first hooked up at two Uni open days light years ago now, it seems, so it was good to share Becky and Rhys' graduation together as well xx

This desk pic is from last Friday when all hell had broken loose with the weather in this part of Wales...
So dark we had the lights on all day - there was an amazing amount of flooding in the area, so I stayed put in the JanCave, making something out of this fabric...
I really like this combo! It works well for both large and small projects....
I've been bunting making again but can't show you it as the person hasn't received it yet!
I found some little holly leaves in The Works and sewed them onto the Christmas puds - just need to stuff 'em with the choccies now :-D
Do you remember ages ago, I was part of the trio making a banner for our new WI? Well, it was unveiled last Thursday at a Group meeting we were hosting...
Didn't it turn out well? I passed it onto Belinda who added some embellishments and then on to Janet, who did an AMAZING job of adding the plane (Amelia Earhart made her first landing just outside our harbour on her historic flight), the clock on the church tower, the lettering...absolutely brilliant! The Church represents St Illtyd's in Pembrey, it's a 12th century church with some amazing stories attached to it, not least the fact that I sang in the choir as a girl, was confirmed and married there and both our boys were christened too. The lighthouse represents Burry Port of course. Our group meeting went incredibly well as did the sketch, thankfully I do not have ANY photos to share of our act lol but the hats went down a treat!!
Have a great week everyone, here's hoping for calmer weather!

surely there must be evidence somewhere..... love the bunting; a real group effort!
Congratulations on Rhys' graduation - you wouldn't mistake him for anyone else's son would you! What a beautiful day for it too. Hope you weren't affected by flooding directly, I assume not as you didn't mention it. Helen #?
Hi Jan, Well done to your son. m Lovely photo of you all.
Hope you didn't suffer any flooding or damage due to the weather.
Wondering what you made with the two fabrics. Love the bunting and Christmas Pud.
The WI banner is fab.

Morning Jan. What a wonderful photo of the graduation - congratulations, Rhys. Was going to say he couldn't be anyone else's son, but Helen beat me to it!! Well done on the bunting and the Christmas puds. Now, surely, just a secret photo between WOYWW and yourself....?? There must be evidence! Glad it all went well and the banner has come out beautifully - good community work there.
It did go a bit wild last week, didn't it? I never stirred from the house for two days as the winds were so strong. Trust you suffered no damage.
Take care. God bless.

BIG Congrats to your Son Jan, it's a very proud moment isn't it.
Sounds like the Jancave was the best place to be, we too had horrid weather & the rain continued over the weekend and into the beginning of the week, today looks to be a much better start to the day.
History in the making regarding your WI banner, sharing the responsibility of it's creation is a lovely idea.

Winchester's a beautiful place isn't it? And what a great group photo! And loving the new WI banner!
Happy WOYWW :)

Really loved the graduation photos....such proud moments. Congrats Rhys. Gorgeous fabrics you've been working with....I can't wait to see what you've made. The banner is a real credit to you all....something that will be treasured for years.
Hugs,

Lovely family celebration, Jan, and congratulatons to your son. I love the start of new bunting, and the WI banner is a triumph. How brilliant, putting the famous plane in, too! Great post. Thank you for your visit, and I'm glad you like my colour combos. I need to finish the embellishments for both scarves and get them assembled - not too much knitting remaining to be done on scarf #2 now.
Happy WOYWW,

Wow, your banner is fabulous! What a wonderful feeling you will have each time it is "aired" knowing you had a hand in making it. I once made a Ranger flag with a friend for my company and it was a lovely feeling, eventually, when it was carried at parades. Long story attached to it which I will share some time.
Love the tapestry type hearts, they look fabulous and I do like the white banners you have done of late.
Cute puddings but not as cute as the photo of the graduation. How proud you must have been - a lovely photo for the album. Golly, how tall is your son? He's like his mum.
Hugs and have a wonderful week - hope the storm damage was not too bad but floods are awful.
Hugs, Neet 14 xx
Hiya Jan, wow that is amazing, You all did a fantastic job on that. Glad to hear you avoided the worst of the flooding, the pics on BBC news were awful. Fantastic pic of Rhy's graduation, what a lovely day. How fast has that time gone? I recall you telling us that he was going, and that seems like just a few weeks ago. Time flies, eh? The crop news is fab, unbelievable it's been 10 years. Love and hugs to you all,Shaz #6 XXXXXX
Congrats to your Son, what a happy day for oll of you! The bunting is so nice, good job! And the cute Christmas Pudding - I love theme! Best wishes,
Eva from Austria
Congrats to Rhys and the proud parents - he's a good head taller than either of you! Definitely looks ready to fly the nest! I love those dark days with the lights on - so atmospheric! Super banner - great team work behind it - I would have been so nervous working on something that other people have already put effort into - what if I mess it up? Thanks for your visit, Jan! Enjoy your week! zsuzsa #17
Hi Jan, many congratulations again to Rhys and yourselves ... you couldn't be anything but proud of him! I love that fabric, especially the richly coloured one - it looks so expensive. I'm off to The Works tomorrow to pick up some books I ordered for this years week-of-books for the children, together with several extendable dusters ... I broke my last one and I miss it!! The banner is fabulous - love that it is a joint effort - makes it extra special. I'm sure you'd manage perfectly well to knit socks but it's not on four needles any more, it's five ... when did it change? Anyway, I've found it's really no different once I got started although I only ever knitted mittens with four needles in the past.
Forgot to finish my comment ... a senior moment. Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #22
Thank goodness all that weather is over, maybe now you can all have some calmness to do the tidy up thing. Love the banner, brought back happy memories of banners made for previous Churches, nothing as posh as yours though - it's brilliant.
Congrats to Rhys, looks like all our children have graduated this year .... well, mine is a grandaughter .......
Have a good week

Congratulations to your son...:)
Shame about the lack of photos for that WI sketch Jan! Congratulations to Rhys and his friends on their graduation. Glad you weren't hit too hard by the horrid weather. Sarah #3
What a gorgeous banner! You three did a great job! Great grad photo - Mom and son could be twins! I think hunkering down in your Jan Cave during inclement weather is perfect! Hope your weather is better this week, Lindart #29
Congrats to your son! Hope you didn't have any damage from the flooding. At least you were able to play in your Jan Cave during the nasty weather. Thanks for popping by and have a great week!

Hi Jan. Thanks for the visit and for checking out my book. If you choose to read, an honest review would be very much appreciated. I love visiting your space.
