OOH, BETTER WATCH OUT FOR THE SKIN DEEP
It's going to be short and sweet this week! Desk activities have been few and far between but this is what it was like yesterday:
There's a basket of Christmassy bits and bobs on the left for the Knit Stitch & B*tch charity stall, a penguin decoration needs some eyes before blanket stitching/stuffing and I'm making some more personalised bunting for a friend's great niece.
Most of this has been done whilst watching TV. The stockings are ready to have candy canes or something popped inside.
The song lyric today refers to something that's been washed up a lot on our beaches recently. We don't normally see these creatures but the strong currents and storms have been playing havoc.
Portuguese Man of War. A really weird thing as it's not a single animal but group of organisms acting as a unit. The colours are surreal - there are many signs up on the beaches not to touch, especially aimed at dog owners. After Storm Ophelia whooshed through on Monday, our big beach resembles a jellyfish graveyard and the amount of sand that shifted is unbelievable. The power of Mother Nature!
Blimey, I have been a good girl and kept it short and sweet today - brownie points for me, I think!!
Have a good week everyone :-D xxxxxx

after I saw your FB pic of these, I saw elsewhere on the t'interweb that there had been thousands up the coast dragged by the winds and tides... hope you weren't badly affected by Ophelia, she was a bit of a brute! Love your tv sewing goodies. Helen #?
Such pretty hearts. Always love the nature photos you share your way. So different than anything in our area. Mother nature has really been on a tear around the world. So much destruction here in the states. Enjoy WOYWW and have a fun week
For something Mother nature has produced, they do look quite surreal don't they. Love all your makes Jan - that little basketful must have taken hours of sofa time! xx
You’ve been rather productive with your sewing in front of the telly this week....love them. As for the man of wars....I’d be really interested to know how they will be cleared off the beaches or do they just get left for nature to deal with?
Hugs,

For some silly reason the photos won't upload for me. Get the top strip and that is it. Will have to look when I get home.
In the midst of a massive storm. Looking out now it is just a grey wall, cannot see where the sky ends and the sea starts. Terrific lightening.
We were here two years ago and there was a largish beach. Now it is just a little ledge and apparently that has been built from soil brought in from the land and covered in shingle. As you say, the power of Nature. Love your jellies but they are lethal. Ugh! How can such a thing of beauty harm.
Hugs and thanks for linking last week.

Ps don't know how we managed to blog and link, took three writings of my post for starters.
Hi Jan, your photos of your makes, fabrics etc always cheer me . I'd heard about those Portuguese Man of War, alien looking beings. have a good week. Anne x #13
You definitely have a touch of Christmas happening, love those stockings. I saw the jellyfish on your fb page, they are so weird aren't they. It's amazing what nature throws at us sometimes. I bet you saw the storm in all it's glory. Hope everything escaped the winds.
Have a great week

Gorgeous basket of goodies and what amazing creatures on the beach. Are they being cleared up as they sting after death don't they? Or is it just being left for nature to take its course? BJ#6
Smashing basket of goodies - I have taken to just watching TV, yet I crocheted two blankets on the journey to and from the Crop! Must Try Harder!!
Nature is a wonderful thing, lots of variety.
Have a good week

Love love love the penguin! How cute. In contrast to the horrid Jellyfish, ugh. The KSB group is going great guns, huh, between you I wonder how much you raise!?
Hi Jan, Your Christmas things should sell well.
Surprised they haven't cleared the beach of those Man of War Jellyfish, as they really are dangerous.
Happy WOYWW

Wow Jan you are really working hard - all that TV you have to watch for a good cause! I have to agree that it's much nicer to have something productive to do while the TV is on. They are so cute I'm sure they'll fly off the table.
I think the PMOW jellyfish are amazing but haven't seen one yet, although a few have washed up on to our local beach. I assume they are being cleared away pretty quickly, which is why I keep missing them!
Hope you have a great week,
Hugs,

Hiya Jan, love the bunting, and the Christmassy bits. Those Jellyfish have such interesting colours, you can see why people would be attracted to them. And pets as well, probably. Am I being stupid, or do you have a new background on your blog? I know you're going to say no, it's been like that for years, rofl! Love and hugs from us both, XxXx
Your desk is always so tidy. Love the Christmasy items. Those Portuguese man of war are deadly fancy leaving them washed up on the beach. We have a number of jellyfish in the med during the month of June and have special flags warning people. Have a productive week. Anickoana #14
Great collection of gorgeousness, Jan - love the little hearts with snowflakes on them! That creature is amazing - I thought it was a plastic bag to start with. I'm not too brave about jellyfish on the beach, but love to watch films of them swimming freely - so delicate. Thank you for your visit - yes, Margaret and I had such a great time and it was over in a flash - we could have done with a week! Yes, our little apple tree is very prolific and produces very flavoursome apples (don't know what variety). My apple butter has turned out a treat - dark and thick and smooth and oh-so-tasty and spicy - and no sugar! I've got the dough rising in the airing cupboard and will make up the cinnamon twist loaf when I've finished WOYWW-ing for the afternoon!
Happy WOYWW,

Love all your goodies! And even when busy your desk looks tidy! I just got mine cleaned so I can start the next project. Hope you didn't have much damage from the storm. Have a great week!

Wow, that photo is interesting. Lots of storms blowing and causing havoc all over. Have a great week. Love looking at all your sewing goodies. Granddaughter saw a kids sewing machine at the store and her eyes bugged out. Guess what I'm getting her for Christmas LOL Dorlene #29
I love the folky/scandi hearts. I bet they'll sell very well. I find the jelly fish so fascinating. How strange and wonderful is nature? Enjoy the rest of your week.

Hi Jan, oh Cool, I have never "seen" one of those. the colors look fantastic. :) love the little things you have been crafting esp the stitching on the felt. ~Stacy #26
You can't go wrong with spotty materials! Lovely little makes! I'd never heard of Portuguese Man of War until I saw it on your Facebook and looked it up. What a weird and fascinating creature! Thanks for stopping by earlier! Hope you're having a good week! zsuzsa #22
Hi Jan, loving your Christmas makes. I've never actually seen one of these Jelly Fish though heard plenty about them. Lets hope some of them managed to get back to where they belong. Happy crafty woyww, Angela x10x
Hi Jan, your desk is one of my favourites .... very christmassy and I love Christmas. I'm still a child at heart. The PMOW looks quite scary! Thanks for stopping by earlier, I am pleased the album is almost done, just got to think what I do next. Have a lovely week Heather #7
Those poor Man of Wars. :-( Love the Christmas goodies. :-)

Nature brings indeed strange phenomenons our way... we saw a pale orange sun on Tuesday and the sky looked really strange - the wind brought Sahara-sand to the Netherlands and cars and stuff outside were covered in orange-isch dust... weird! The Portugese gellyfish (called "Portugese war-ship" in Holland) looks surreal - the colours are however gorgeous, I do love gellyfish! Thanx for stopping by my blog yesterday, hope your week is bright and shiny! Love from The Netherlands, Marit #18
Haven't you done well with your lovely Christmas makes.
Toni xx
Wonderful basket of Christmas goodies! That Man-of-War looks awesome and scary at the same time! EEEK! And you are welcome on my porch anytime! Thanks for your earlier visit, have a great week! Lindart #34
Gorgeous colours, but so dangerous. Glad you survived Ophelia without too much upset. Have a good week Jan, Sarah #24
