CRYIN' OVER YOU...

Thank you to everyone who asked after Harry the Cat last week - unfortunately, it wasn't a good outcome. Under sedation for an x-ray, we found out that he had a massive tumour and it was kindest to let him slip away in his sleep. Poor old puss cat, we miss him so much. He was a very big personality and has left a moggy shaped hole in our lives...
He had a fab life (16 years) and is hopefully chasing mice up there in the clouds :-)

Crafting helped fill the void. I'm still making items for various projects:
This is the aftermath of a big cutting out session.....

I'm taking a leaf out of Wipso's book and making PE bags for the charity stalls. I'd forgotten I'd got that hearts fabric, there wasn't much left, hence pairing it up with the lilac spot.

And I managed to make three tote bags and a grown-up drawstring bag out of the jelly roll strips. They came together really well and I'm pleased with how they turned out.

G and I went out on a road trip the other day to cheer ourselves up after Harry's demise and found this tiny little wool shop, which doubled up as the main reception office for a caravan park. My dear hubby insisted we stop (no, honest, he really did!) which earned him lots of brownie points :-D I had to buzz an intercom to speak to someone to come and open up - that's a first!

Unfortunately there was nothing that caught my eye, but Emily the owner was lovely and she had a neon sign in her door!  Hopefully she gets lots of custom from the holidaymakers on the site :-D

I hope that Julia is behaving herself stateside - what am I saying?? There's no chance of that ;-D

Have a great week xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Nothing like a bit of shopping to try to cheer oneself up. So sorry to hear about Harry, I had no idea. He looked such a handsome fella! No doubt he is keeping himself busy playing along and chasing those "meeces". It will leave a sizeable hole in your hearts for a long time but happy memories will help, so focus on them dear Jan.
Looks as if the weather was kind to you too, what a lovely little shop you found on your road trip.
Sending gentle hugs and thinking about you both

I always say people who don't own animals don't understand what their passing means, they are like children when you have them so many years. Love the idea of a wool shop on a caravan site, perhaps this could be a first of many handicraft shops so holidaymakerscould always have something to do when it rains. Anickoana#20

Ohh Jan. I'm so sorry about poor Harry. Freya will be so sad for you and him too, she often talks about Harry and Ron. They become members of the family don't they? Sending you hugs. Love all your makes and that shop made me smile, you always find the quirky things don't you?

Such a handsome cat Jan - he lived to a good age and had a great life, I am sure. Now, isn't that little shop fab and what a thoughtful hubby to insist you popped in! Your bags are beautiful and will be so useful. Enjoy the sunshine! x Jo

I didn't even know you had Harry - I only remember seeing Ron! What a lovely cat he was - a bit like Oreo but with a lot more white in him. My son would call him Double Stuff, like the Oreos that come with double the cream! 16 years is a good age for a cat - just think of the good life he had with you - not all cats are so lucky! Loving what you did with the jelly rolls! Did you not feel obliged to buy something LOL - after they opened the shop for you especially? I think I would have felt compelled to spend some money, even if I didn't want anything, haha! But that's just me. I'm sure the lady enjoyed just having a chat with you. Have a nice week, Jan, and fill that moggy shaped hole in your heart with lovely memories of Harry. xx

Hi Jan, sorry to hear about your kitty. I have learnt in my time of keeping dogs that they only have a limited lifespan and all we can do is make sure they have a good time while they are here. We should enjoy every moment and be blessed that we had that time with them. I must say he was a very handsome chap. The little shop is so sweet too, looks like it has everything. Have a happy woyww, Angela x16x

So sorry to hear about Harry. Cats are such wonderful creatures and become such a part of the family. I didn't particularly like cats but ended up with one as my middle son really, really wanted one (and yes Mum I'll take care of it!). Years later son is moved out and cat still here. Apparently he adopted me and will only sit nicely on my lap. He's wormed his way into my heart. I'm sure Harry is chasing mice somewhere and getting into mischief!

I LOVE your bags. As always the fabrics are so bright and cheery. So talented! I admit I'm not a sewer. Maybe one day - still working on the knitting!

Hi Lunch Lady Jan, sorry about your very handsome moggy, how lovely are his colours. We had a beautiful coloured tabby with white socks and tummy, he died fairly young sadly from a cattle tick, one disadvantage of the countryside and when they go, they do leave a hole.
Love the library bags totes and what cute shop!!
Thanks so much for your great desky share.

Happy WOYWW. RIP Handsome Harry. He lived to a good age. Your sewing is so colourful. Looks like the shop down near Amroth? I have always wanted to run a caravan park - it would be great to have a craft shop/reception! Will be in touch to arrange to meet up. Ali x #42

Hello LLJ!! I'm so sorry to hear about Harry. He definitely was a handsome cat and I'm sure he had a great life with you and yours. I bet he's rolling around in catnip and enjoying a mouse every now and then.

The gym bags look adorable! I hope you sell out of them in a jiff. I find myself attracted to jelly rolls but just don't know what I'd do with them. Did you stitch the stripes together then make your project? I can see where that would work....
Julia is stateside??? Hmm, I wonder where she is? Email me?? Oh, and I need your mailing address once again please....

Oh how sad about Harry! I don't own a cat myself, but every morning I borrow my sister Peggy's cats and they play in the garden while I pray and paint. One is also black and white, handsome and dignified like Harry.

Oh Jan, that's two of us crying over our lost babies. It's so distressing, isn't it. My hubby had to take Beatrice to the vet on Wednesday and have her put to sleep. She seemed to give up the will to live after Phoebe's passing. Such a shock to lose them both in the space of 3 weeks. The house feels horribly empty without them and we are busy trying to find 2 new little babies to love. Maybe Beatrice and Phoebe are playing happily with Harry now, never having met in life! I hope Ron will pick up and settle down and be happy again. For Beatrice it was too late as she was too old (very nearly 17) and didn't have the resilience any longer.

The weight loss han't been that difficult with the 5:2 diet - it's taken me a while but that way it's more likely to stay off. It's more a way of life than a diet now. As for the pantry, the carpenter can't start now till the beginning of July but I don't mind - I'm so used to coping in Mum's tiny kitchen that a couple of extra weeks won't matter.
