THIS OLD HOUSE WAS HOME AND COMFORT....

My house has sold! It took less than two weeks and has been bought by a youngish family with two little skippity girls - I know you shouldn't care about who buys your house really but the fact that it's a family has made me happy, it's been a great home for us and hopefully will be for them too. But we may be out by end Aug/early Sept, so the next few weeks are going to be full on - I suspect you may not see me around for a while.

I needed to do some mindless crafting while my brain was whizzing about different things, so I found the Moda charm pack I bought in the sale and, after being inspired by Wipso's lovely little quilt last week, set to placing the squares in a pleasing fashion.
They're such pretty and summery fabrics - I really enjoyed being immersed in colour therapy! I'll make a small quilt and then decide what to do with it!

I do love charm packs - they make life so easy. If I had to pick my own fabrics out in a quilting shop, I'd find it hard as there's almost too much choice. I find that working with limited resources sometimes makes you have to think a bit harder.
Anyway, now the rows are ready, they're perfect for when I have 30 mins to zone out!

Two daft pics to finish on - the first is especially for Helen (Stamping by H), who is another Outlander fan. We found this street name while wandering around Cirencester last week!
A reference for Outlander geeks - ooh, he was a proper bad 'un! Booo, hisssss...........

The second pic I've snaffled from the blog of Darnell, who is on her Grand Day Out crafting tour of the UK! As I mentioned last week, Julia and I were heading off to meet her. We started talking at 4pm and were still going strong at 10 - isn't it fab when you already have a strong bond through this wonderful world of desking?  Darnell's pic is much better than mine:

(l-r: Me, Fiona (Staring at the Sea), Darnell, Julia and Morti (Mad Ramblings)

Lolol!! I think Julia looks very roguish, don't you! Think I need to go for some waxing though :-)  Goodness, we had fun and talked about everything under the sun. Thank you so much for inviting us down, Darnell - it was a privilege to meet you!

Have a great week everyone xxx

That was a quick sale - well done you! Can understand you caring who moves in. Just one thing, please do not leave us even for a week or two as you will be so so missed. Can understand you will be mega busy but we could have shots of the diminishing craft room.
Love the quilt you have done and I love the photo of you all wearing your 'tashes'!

That quilt is lovely and you're so right about the colour packs - they really help to focus the mind. I struggle when Im in our good old Watson and Thornton to find colour combinations as there are just so many possibilities. Happy crafting, Max #19 :-)

Hiya Jan, love that pic of you all together. I did laugh when I saw it on Darnells blog!Wipso did a great job of that quilt, and so fast! I'd still be cutting out! Happy news about the sale, and it's so nice to feel you are handing it over to someone you liked. Would be horrible if you didn't take to them. I'm totally behind today, someone pinched a day when I wasn't looking, I think. Have the rest of a lovely week, lots of love and huge hugs, see you soon, Shaz xxxxx

Brilliant photo, bet you all had a great time. Well done at selling the house so quickly so pleased you like the new people, I know it's seems silly but you do bond with houses if you are in them long enough. You are absolutely right what you said about my style, I don't do fussy, life's too short Lol! Thanks for the lovely comment. Have a fun woyww and thanks for the visit to mine, Angela x 14

LOL, that photo of you ladies rocking those mustaches has made my day! Congratulations on the sale of your house! That was quick! Hope everything goes through smoothly. Have you found yours yet? We put our plans on the back burner for now. I think we're just too picky and we can't seem to find anything as good as where we are now. Love your charm pack all laid out! I really love fabrics as much as you do, even though I don't sew! There's just something irresistible about them! Enjoy your week! zsuzsa #28

Ha, ha, ha! You make quite a motley crew with those whimsical and cleverly selected mustaches. I love the summery colors and patterns you combined for the quilt you're working on, and hope to see the finished product. Blessings, my friend!

Oh my goodness...you all are rocking the staches!! Love it! And I don't know why, but patchwork squares just make me happy. I am not the best at sewing them together for some reason...but I love it anyway. I'm attempting to do a patchwork curtain from white vintage linens. So we'll see. But your little quilt is already gorgeous. And your house! What!! That is exciting that you not only got your sale, but that you have the peace of knowing a family will continue to create happy memories there. I hope you have a fresh new exciting place planned. I joke with my hubby all the time about this new area, not too far from us, where they've built a housing community that is just for 55+. It is literally just a row of houses. I am 55, hubby is 54, so I tell him, "they've almost got my house ready!" I just wonder what that is all about. Why do you have to be 55? Are they going to mow the lawns for you, etc? I don't know. But hubby takes care of things, so I hope to stay here a while longer! So happy for you though. Hugs and love...your soul sister across the pond. Sandy Leigh #32

Oh Lordy, I love that photo!! How brilliant is that!!!!! I am so glad you guys were able to get together and enjoy each others crafty company! I would so love to do that with some of the crafters here in the States! Ok, Im am a HUGE Outlander fan and I would probably have shot that sign had I seen it on the street somewhere! LOLOLOL Not really, but you get the idea! LOLOL Lovely quilt makings for sure! I don't quilt, but I love them. I go to antique fairs to find quilts and have made out quite a few times with some lovely quilts. The colors in the squares here are so sweet! Thanks for sharing with us today! Congrats on the house sell and good luck for the hunt! Blessings, Felicia #37

Congrats on the sale of your house. It's always so happy to have it sold and exciting, but at the same time a bit harrowing. Good luck with your move. The quilt layout is beautiful and will be lovely upon completion. I find fabric patterns too overwhelming, but think nothing of it on paper. Love the photo!! I think you all get razors for Christmas - ha. Blessings, LisaDV #35

Too funny you referenced Outlander! I have a journal spread this week inspired by it. I loved the books, and the series has been quite good. I love the quilt start, and Super Gratz on selling you house so quickly. Over here that would be a miracle. Good luck with the packing/moving! Have a great week.

Hi Jan,
Congrats on the sale of your home! I might be right behind you..... we'll see if my potential buyer qualifies for financing. Then hopefully on to the new place - and best of all, I will have a designated craft room! Woo hoo.

Love the pic. You are right about Julia - she looks ready for business with the one eyebrow raised!

Great news about the house sale. Fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly for you. Love the quilt you are making. Darnell is so lovely isn't she. I felt so bad that I had to leave after lunch with her on Wednesday, but meds wipe me out these days, otherwise I would have loved to spent the afternoon chatting. Cara x

What a fab group! congrats on the house selling so quickly. Sounds as if the sale was meant to be. You will be very busy in the coming weeks and we'll be sending you tons of energy. Love the charm pack. After you mentioned choices I had to wonder if that is why we buy paper packs. One of those things that make you go 'Hmmm.' Creative Blessings! Kelly #36
