WOYWW 313

HUSH LITTLE BABY, DON'T SAY A WORD.
PAPA'S GONNA BUY YOU A MOCKINGBIRD......

Well, after all the excitement and hullaballoo from last week's WOYWW6 celebrations, my desk and this post is a little quieter...a tad more genteel.....you know, just like me ;-)

All the scraps were tidied up (ish) but I've got some back out again because of the arrival of a new baby boy, a grandson for a friend in my brass band. Cue the Tessellating Triangles again!

I've gone for muted colours this time, playing safe colourwise, as I don't know the new parents that well. But I hope that this will be appropriate for little Ethan's room :-)

What else have I been up to? Well, I'm still trying to Bust my Scraps, making small things for my friend Helen's fundraiser.....

I've been having fun making little zipped bags - nowt special, but hopefully they'll go for a couple of quid!

The fabric on the right was left over after making a tote for someone..it's the most gorgeous quality, really heavyweight furnishing fabric that isn't too thick. At £17 a metre, I made the most of the 60cms worth I bought, cutting very carefully indeed!!

And then I had a lovely time when Sally, whom I met at one of Rhys' Uni Open Days, came over for lunch. She does read this blog, so was quite interested to see the Sewing Den!  I was showing her all the beautiful ATCs that I've received and then she had a good riffle through my boxes of fabric. Sally is very good at sewing, making far more complex items that I've ever attempted!

And she's a naughty girl because she brought me 4 lots of half metres of these gorgeous fabrics. They tone really well, don't they? I'm going to have fun making patchwork bags with those beauties!!

I mentioned the ATCs - well, here are the ones I've been lucky enough to get so far....
Aren't they wonderful?  I'm so grateful to have been part of the celebration of friendship and crafting.  I got one from Sandra De In Australia and enclosed in the envelope was this.....

Brisk and full bodied eh? Dunno if that refers to the tea or me!! LOL :-)  Thanks Sandra, I'm going to enjoy that!

Have a great week everyone xxxx

Morning, Jan. Looks like you've had a lovely week. Love those little zipped bags and how lovely to meet a new friend on a unsuspecting day like visiting a uni. Just shows we meet people when we least expect it. Love all your ATC's. I hope mine hasn't got lost in the post, maybe it's gone via Australia, lol. Had to laugh at Sandra's tea. We chat about tea too. she found some Yorkshire Tea in Oz and wondered whether it was the genuine stuff...it was, amazing.
Thanks for your lovely ATC

I love all your projects, Jan, and little Ethan's parents are going to love that... You, genteel! Well, they do say Shoshi has a vivid imagination lol lol!!! Love your new fabric - really bright and spring like. Never heard of the Australian tea, but what a great idea to put some in with the ATC! What a great collection you have got. Sorry not to be taking part this year but I think I've got enough to cope with just now... Thanks for your lovely comment, and yes, I really enjoyed my birthday, quiet though it was, and I'm glad you like my idea for the lavender sachets. Still quite a lot to do!

Happy WOYWW,

Now I won't have to open my package! OK, not so, but these are all so wonderful and diverse. I'm so grateful to Julia, because I really didn't want anything in return.

Lovely new bunting for Ethan. I'm not quite sure your definition of genteel and mine are the same, but . . . .

Thanks for the earlier visit. Happy WOYWW from # 5.

Gorgeous atc's Jan, and some fabric ones for you as you are a stitcher too.
Ah ha - now I see how you put zips in those little pocket bags. Must have a go myself as I do want to make something - I need to use some fabric but I never seem to get the time. Papercrafting always has a habit of sneaking in in a morning.
Hugs, & Thanks for visiting me - Neet xx
ps no, I did not know Debbie was at the workshop - and dang it - I never thought to wear my badge. Maybe we all need a reminder - next time I will!!!

I love that photo with your sewing machine, working on the little zipped bag! I had to pin it to my Pinterest Board! I think just looking at that will help me with little bags and sewing in the zippers. If I came over...hmmm...I'd definitely have to see the sewing den, and of course I'd want to go have tea and knit in your garden! And then, you know what's next, we'd go to Downton Abbey! Tee hee. Anyhoo, it's so sweet because the song you opened with is what I used to sing to Lauren every night when she was little. Around age 3 she went through a phase where she didn't want to sleep by herself. I'd sing that song, all the verses, and her eyes would close and I would think she had nodded off...then when I stopped singing she'd whisper, "baby" and that meant I had to start again..."Hush little baby, don't say a word..." Another two or three rounds! Those were the days. Now she's going to turn 21 next week. And next spring she graduates from college. Can I cry? Hugs dearest. Happy Wednesday! Sandy Leigh #44

Hi Jan, not so quiet really, the colours in that zipper bag on your sewing machine fairly shouts - pink polka dots too - love polka dots :) The tessellating triangles are beautiful and I love the shot of the works in process on your sewing machine. The photo of your friend viewing the lovely ATCs you received is lovely, as is the gorgeous fabric she brought you. Lovely post, as usual. Happy WOYWW and have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #41
