WOYWW 312

IT'S FRIENDSHIP, FRIENDSHIP,
JUST A PERFECT BLENDSHIP.....

I know Julia will be the first to say that WOYWW isn't about her - it's all down to us, those lovely bloggers who join up each week. And that's partly true. But you still need a lynch pin and we wouldn't be anywhere without Julia would we? Someone who has posted and linked for 6 years (and who emails and texts behind the scenes too)

There would be no WOYWW without you, lovely gal and we appreciate what you do.
THANK YOU :-)

You may have noticed that I've altered the banner at the top of my blog for today's occasion! And my desk is especially 'creative' today, fitting in with the global deskosity!

It looks like I've pulled out every scrap I possess - ahh, if that were only the case. This is but a teeny portion of my stash......cough......  I'm making small things for a fundraiser. Helen, my friend from the accordion orchestra, is having a stall to raise funds for her church in Hungerford. I thought I'd make some lavender bags, tissue covers etc. Helen made some of her beautiful butterfly pictures for the Crop, so I thought I'd return the honour......

I've made quite a few of these before but never though to attach a little loop of ribbon. I rather like it - why does giving something a tag-like label give it extra cachet??

Some hearts and lavender bags mid-construction.  It's a great way to use up small scraps of lace and ribbons too....plus some new stash. That lovely green wooden flower is from a selection given to me by my mate Sally :-)

You get two desks for the price of one today!  I was having a quiet five minutes outside on Monday, cup of peppermint tea and my knitting box to hand, watching the bl*%$y sparrows having dust baths between my lettuce seedlings!  I'd got all the constituent parts of two Hooters made, they just needed sewing up.....

A pair of Hooters (!!) ready to fly off somewhere.......

I'm excited to see who my swap partner will be! But I do have about 10 ATCs left after the Crop, if anyone would like to swap :-)

Enjoy the Anniversary - long may WOYWW continue!!

Oh goodness. Now I'm singing that Friendship song in my head. You are right about Julia being the lynchpin. I have no idea how she does it all, yet works with her hubby and teaches classes, too. She must have a remarkably fast internet for one thing.

Love your garden. If only mine were so well designed and carefully planted.

So glad you are participating in the swap, too. I suspect we have already swapped ATCs. Friendship, just a perfect . . . OK, all that is left to say is happy, happy WOYWW 6. No number yet, but I'm sure you'll find me after a fashion.

Those hooters are a hoot too. When I was on retreat I saw a lady making a similar thing. Hers was a hedgehog.
I’m still travelling but managed to have internet today so I’m visiting as many of you as I can. Happy anniversary all! Six years is quite a long time.

Thanks for stopping by today. I quite agree about the great friendships we have formed. They are very special and all down to what Julia started so long ago. You are also right about what a tiny loop of ribbon can do to the price of an article. I love the flowery ones, really hot and summery. Have a good time sewing those beautiful hooters up. xx Maggie #8

Your creativity is blowing me away today!! The banner up top is absolutely perfect. And of course, as usual, I'm completely inspired to go fire up Violet and stitch something--ooh, by the way I'm posting about my little sewing nook tomorrow--anyhoo you are such a beautiful, fabulous girl and Julia is amazing, and even though we're so far apart I can't imagine my 54-year-old life without either of you! I feel like every day, in spite of life's obstacles (like having to work for a living, the eye issue, the bad back, etc.) I'm moving closer toward being a genuine full-time crafter/artist, and I love that! So...anyhoo...I literally gasped when I saw that gorgeous photo of your garden. What a calming, wonderful scene with your knitting and the gardens. Love, love, love. This year, probably over half of my garden is direct seed sowing. Of course I have the tomato starts, we don't have a long enough season to direct sow tomato seeds. But, I did sow seeds for beans, varieties of squash, basil, spinach, lettuces, flowers, and dill and parsley. So I'm excited! I just want warm beautiful days and continuous harvest. That's not too much to ask, right? I'm starting to work on a garden banner featuring some of mom's handkerchiefs and doilies. I'll let you know how that goes. Thanks for being my beautiful English soul sister. Hugs! Sandy Leigh

Thanks for your visit and your very kind comments. :) Oh, Jan --- I love those tissue holders! And you're right: the tags give an air of "je ne sais quoi" . Your sewing talents blow me away every time. Darling owls---- maybe you could scare the sparrows with them. {giggle} The sparrows would probably fall in love, and then where would you be?? Your occasion banner top is perfect! More of your creativity to admire... Enjoy the anniversary visits today.

Hi Jan, love all the little things you are creating from scraps, ribbon, lace and buttons. I've been making, I should say finishing, cushion covers this week ... I only started making them weeks ago!!! Your garden is looking productive and amazingly weed free too ... it took me weeks to get on top of them but the ground elder is hellbent on defeating me!!! And the bl*%$y sparrows have been having dust baths in my cut flower patch too. Love your hooters :) Happy WOYWW 6. Have a great week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #54

Hey! Love the two desks for the price of one. If I were you I'd spend most of the time at the one in the fresh air and sun. But I'm not, so I'm in a cement box all day (work). Loved seeing the photo of every scrap you own (except for those not in the photo *wink*) and the little projects you are up to. Enjoy your day! Judy #73

Yes, you are right, that little tag on the tissue covers does add a little something, although why that should be so, is beyond me :)
My ATCs haven't arrived yet. Any day now, hopefully. I am looking forward to seeing them :)

Aww...those Hooters are so sweet! And I love your story about dust-bathing sparrows. They need a bit of house-training though, don't they? Your garden looks great and I admire anyone who can set out such tidy vegetable beds and actually keep them that way!
I liked seeing all the little things you're making with the yummy fabric scraps. I think I need a tissue holder... And yes, the little ribbon "tag" does make a difference - must be social conditioning ;-) !
Have a good week. Lizzie #68

What a great idea of adding a small tag to the tissue holders. I use the one you made me every day in my work bag. The 'in progress' photo lulled me into a false sense of hope as I thought you were about to do a photo instruction for them.......(hint, hint!!) :-)

thanks for visiting my desk already

Happy WOYWW 6!

Thank you for your kind comments. I'm a bit slow getting round this week! You and Gordon will have to come round for a meal at some point so you can have a good look at the Forge. It is rather lovely, and just one of a zillion models and dioramas my Dad made. He was rather prolific - more so than Mum ever realised till it came to clearing the house for the move!

Livvy would love one of your ATCs if there's still one going begging....
