WOYWW 219

THAT'S NEAT, THAT'S NEAT, THAT'S NEAT, THAT'S NEAT,
I REALLY LOVE YOUR TIGER FEET.....
(Mud...my 70's heroes. Have a listen!)

I have been accused of having a very neat desk (!!) which may be true as I need a clear space for cutting out fabric and I can't bear searching for stuff....but just take a 90 degree spin to the right....
A bed piled high with detritus, a cat supervising, a husband ironing (HIS work shirts, so that's fair...and no, you can't have him..he's mine) but my table is still tidy!! Grin.... Actually, the pile on the bed is 6 welsh wool blankets that I brought back from clearing out my parents' airing cupboard. They are old but still beautiful. But in this age of duvets, what on earth do I do with them?

These are the fabrics on the table....can't tell you what they are for though..sorry... Cute owls though!

Here's the finished baby blanket..I'm quite pleased with it.

I found a tutorial for scalloped edges and then did my own thing anyway..that's typical me (ask Julia!!)

Here's some colours lined up for the next project..it needs some reds, oranges and brighter greens though..I fancy doing something 'rainbowy'....dunno what yet...a stripey blanket or runner perhaps.

And finally...
Some birthday cards arrived from near and far...thank you so much Julia, Hettie, Karen, Gashead Zoe and Janet (Fairythoughts) who also sent me the MOST gorgeous handmade cherry wood buttons with designs on...including hares! Yum!  They are fab, Janet, absolutely gorgeous and I love them. I'm going to have to sit and stroke them for a while though, before I can bring myself to use any!!

Have a great, crafty week :-)

I had to enlarge the photo to see the hares. Too bad the small gift tag hid them a bit. They are beautiful. Sounds like your birthday continues with even more gifts from far and near.

Nice that hubby helps with the ironing, even if they are his shirts.

I'm not sure what Welch wool is, but I starting itching when I read the word WOOL. I can't think of a single thing to use them for. Of course, I'm sure they would go nicely on a bed in the cold of winter. Happy WOYWW from #1.

Great post Jan. Have a fab day today. Make that little sis of mine behave herself! Wool blankets - good to needle felt into. x Jo

Hi neighbour this week, hope you are having a fab day and wish I was there :) You can keep HIM but only because I have my very own him, well trained in the art of ironing. Lovely fabric, beautiful baby blanket - love how you've artfully draped it over the chair with the backdrop of a log pile .... very country crafts :) You could use those blankets in a very traditional way, as the 'batting' for patchwork quilts. The Slightly Mad Quilt Lady, aka Lottie, does just that - here's the link:

My cat supervises most chores in our house as well. He has a lofty place on top of the wardrobe for when that nasty vacuum cleaner comes out! At the moment he's sitting on the floor next to my feet making little miaows whenever I look in his direction - I think this means "my food bowl is only 50% full. Do something to rectify the situation immediately."
Thanks for the peek into the rest of your room! Love the edging on your blanket. Have a lovely lunch!

He is one really beautiful boy, yes I am talking about the cat of course. Hey your hubby irons just like mine, it's good training that gets them like that you know. Good for you. Thanks for the giggle and have a lovely week.

That owl fabric is stunning -n can't wait to see what you make! My hubby doesn't iron but he is very useful around the house as he is the only one in the family with the tidy gene. You may have just dumpedthings but is still looks bright and spacious - lovely room! And I'm sure you'll find a use for those blankets. Happy WOYWW Cindy #85

LOL... all is revealed! I might do the same, my desk is normally pretty tidy, I am not saying what the rest of the room looks like at times! You got your DH ironing? Tell me how... LOL Love the pic of the cat on the bed... they get all the best spots, don't they? Your baby blanket came out beautiful and I love the way you did the edging and yes, I can relate to reading how to do something and then doing it my way... LOL Annette #9

Argh, you've got me singing that song now, haven't heard it in years. You offered to come over and clean up my room and you are most welcome, if you bring Mr Iron man that is (he he), I have a huge pile for him to iron. I couldn't believe it when you said what would you use a blanket for. I have a duvet and blanket on my bed, that way if it gets a little bit too warm you can lift the duvet off, just a little and you still keep warm enough with the blanket. Love your owl fabric and the baby blanket is gorgeous. Fab gifts you got too.
Have a great week.

hehe WJTOSOYWW "Wot's Just To One Side OF Your Workdesk Wednesday"!? Like it! My hubby does ALL the ironing in our house ... and most of the other jobs I hate come to that. Mind you, he literally can't make a cup of tea and famously put salt in it when he tried one time! Happy WOYWW :o) AnnieC #96

My goodness Jan, you've got your man ironing. I think I went wrong somewhere. That baby blanket is so pretty, such lovely colours.
Lovely haul of birthday cards there too, lucky lady.
Welsh wool blankets, how lovely, we always have a blanket available on each bed, just because they are pretty and they can be removed at night if we want to.
Have a wonderful Woywww day out with the others, are you going for lunch to somewhere near a card emporium? Have fun

So many of you beasts around ( my daughter included) and your desk is tidy but all the rest is just the usual household mayhem! You have a good boy ironing his shirts but I have a good one too - he irons his shirts too! Yay!!! We know how to choose! :-)
I hear you are off to see Wipso - Have a lovely day out and hopefully soon you girls will be doing a trip to Kent!

Wow, a husband that irons, need to keep looking at that picture, can I print it out? Look forward to seeing what the owls are for and the complimentary fabric with them.

Love your cards, I saw that button one on my journey through the desks - how lovely and thoughtful of those deskers. Happy Birthday from me too.

A husband that irons. Now that is a novelty! It is in my house anyway, though to be fair I only get the iron out about once a month during the summer!
I love the owls, and the little cat snuggling down with the blankets. If you really have no use for them, a homeless shelter would welcome the blankets.
I love the crochet blanket. I am making crochet 'African flower motifs' for a project right now but I'll say no more until it is done. I have also just knitted a gorgeous rainbow blanket for my Africa project. I will be showing that soon. Have funn making yours. Kate x

Oh dear soul sister--your birthday snuck up! So now we are both 5.2? Or "25" if we want to reverse it! Well that's a lovely hubby doing the ironing right there--who wouldn't want to snatch up a hubby that irons!! My daughter would love that owl fabric too. So fun seeing the whole room, it's so cute! I am melting with complete and total jealously that you get to see season 4 of Downton starting this Sunday! Can you hear my cries of anguish? I'm still rewatching Season 3--and I simply can't wait, but I'll have to wait until January for both Downton Abbey and Mr. Selfridge. Torture!! Well, my husband John is a huge Monty Python fan, and he's an actor, so he couldn't wait to audition for Spamalot. He is in a little ensemble of gentlemen who play all those fun roles like the knights of nee and those men who do their antics all around the king so he is in a lot of numbers. I'm trying to think of a fun opening night bouquet that Lauren and I can have made up for him. It is really special for him to be in this show because several of his oldest friends are in it too that he has done theatre with for a long time--I will post the pics when I can. It opens in September. Your garden goodies sound wonderful to me! Wish you could come over and I would saute some spaghetti squash and mushrooms and garlic with parmesan for you! Hugs dearest! Happy WOYWW. Man ironing - I don't think my hubby has ever done any! The rest of your room is pretty tidy too. Blankets - I agree, what do you do with them? We found lots when clearing out the farmhouse - but they are sitting in a heap in the garage. I can't bear them - too heavy - but they are beautiful in their own way. Lovely owl fabric - and that baby blanket is just wonderful. Ali x #56
