WOYWW 214

THOUGH THE DAYS COME AND GO,
THERE IS ONE THING I KNOW,
I'VE STILL GOT THE BLUES FOR YOU.....
(Gary Moore, gone but not forgotten....)

These are why those particular lyrics came to mind...
Ok, so it's not just blues but greens, yellows and lilacs as well! They are the basis for a new crochet blanket that's going to be for a baby boy. Each granny square will be bordered by a linking colour, which I have yet to choose. My favourite is the bright turquoise...yum!
The upstairs desk (as opposed to ping pong table!) looks like this:

Tote bag pieces to be sewn together for Rachel's RNLI fund raising stall, the very scraggy bottom leg bits that were cut off from G3's jeans, so he could have a pair of cut offs, a bag full of colourful cottons to make another quilt...but what's missing? Ah yes, the time to actually do any of this crafting - I have been very remiss this week and done b***er all! I'm hoping to catch up slightly in the summer holidays.

I've had some fab things sent again this week.....

Bottom left is a hare tag from a Wiltshire friend, bottom right is the lovely flower card I won in Annie from France's competition (I'd forgotten how much I love dried flowers..you don't see them much these days!) and all the rest are a wonderful stash of ATCs, cards, envelopes and a fab Kookaburra tag from the lovely Ros C in Australia..Thank You so much, I love them all!

And finally, at Morti's recent wedding, Mr LLJ used me for some exposure test shots before he took the final pics of the happy couple. They were taken outside about 11pm when the supermoon was in the sky. I was a bit grumpy at first...but look....

Great pic, huh? I really like it....no Photoshop jiggery pokery, just careful light exposure and an incredibly talented husband. I think this photo captures what I am all about....thanks, Gordon....I love it...and YOU!

Awwwwwwwwwww.............................. :-)

That crochet is gonna be brill. too - I'm with Janet about the turquoise, would be the perfect Linky colour. Why did she say Kinky? I isn't like it's gonna be shades of grey or summick? :)

What a beautiful photo. Definitely a keeper. I love that mix of colours you have chosen for your blanket. I think I would have chosen that lovely turquoise as the link colour, it is so pretty. I am still plodding my way through my aran blanket, which is now getting quite heavy, and I desperately need to do the unpicking of the seam on the baby jacket that went wrong. The trouble is that when I sew something up, I do not intend it to ever come undone. I have had something go right this week. British Gas put up my monthly payments without even telling me, despite the fact that I am still well in credit. I argued the toss with them and won. Result! Have a good week. xx Maggie #10

That’s an amazing photo Jan, just look at that moon.

Love the colours you’ve chosen for your next blanket. Like you I would go for the Blue to edge it as it’s for a boy but other than that it would have been the Mauve. Can’t wait to see how it all looks once you start.

Happy Crafting!

I love those blues for the baby!! I think I could look at baskets of yarn all day. I finally finished my patch-happy knit throw, and I am seriously toying with the idea of putting a crochet edge around it--call me crazy with my crochet history--but really, how hard could it be, right? So I must try it. Then I'm actually going to try and knit a tank top. Pray for me. This could turn into a colossal disaster, so I'm not using my best yarn yet. But if it works, I'm going to pull out this amazing organic bamboo neutral colored yarn I bought at the most wonderful little yarn shop called Simply Fibers. The lady who owned it shipped in unique yarns from all over the world. Whenever she would have a sale, I was there! But now she's had to close down, which made my daughter and I sad--Lauren is an avid knitter. But I am glad I have a big stock of her special yarns still waiting for me to knit something brilliant! I can't wait to see your new crochet squares with these adorable blues. And tell hubby your photo is amazing! Hugs dearest soul sister! Sandy Leigh #95

Wow! That photo is amazing. So much definition for that hour of the day. Oh...I came for the desk! The turquoise would be my pick too, but I like all the shades of blue together. It reminds me of a project I saw on somebody's blog a while ago. Each day for a year they looked at the the sky and knitted/crocheted (can't remember which now!) a square in that colour. It looked brilliant when they were all together :o)

Hi Jan, love the baby blues - and greens and yellows, etc - the baby is going to love the blanket, especially if that turquoise dominates. Not a bit surprised you are not getting much done in this weather - it's summer and I've not been doing much more than enjoy it either :) Love the photo - very atmospheric. Hope you are having a lovely day. Elizabeth x #57

Tis a lovely picture. Isn't it fun when we kind of fall in love all over again in little ways. I think it is the joy of a long relationship. The colors you have for your new blanket are yummy...such fun. My daughter's college room mate stayed with us Saturday night and she was busy crocheting a blanket. So I pulled up a picture of yours and she wondered if you used varigated yarn. I did not know. Did you? If not, how did you decide when to change up the color?
I am not in the mix this week. The Fun Room looks like a bomb detonated, and it's a super busy week. I knew I wouldn't make it around, but I did want to say hi. Have a great week!

Hello my fellow Bling Queen… Lovely color pallete full of yarn. Looking forward to seeing that when it's all done. I love to crochet, but truly, there just aren't enough hours in the day to do all the crafty things I love. Lovely things tacked to your cork board, I actually saw that flower card on her blog when she had just finished it. I commented on it, besides being about the bling, I LOVE nature inspired art as well. Your hubby is handy with a camera. I love how the moon illuminates the photo. When it isn't a 1000 degrees out, we build fires in the backyard and chill out as a family. Well, I've enjoyed my visit, I want to thank you for stopping by my desk and taking the time to leave a comment. Wednesday's are my happiest day of the week. :D Have a great wknd. (((HUGS)))

Hi Jan, I'm pinning my hopes on getting lots of crafting done in the holidays too - must resist the temptation to lie in too long! Your yarn looks fab, great colour combo, and yup that bright turquoise is my fave too. Hope you find time to make a start this week. MMx #59

You old softy, Jan. Tis a gorgeous photo. Mr LLJ is very talented with the lens. The colours for your blanket are lovely, just my tones. I think this weather just makes you want to chill and do nothing doesn't it. I know I haven't touched anything for ages, hence the lack of a desk this week.
Hope all is good and you are managing to catch a few rays!!

Great parting shot, very Merlin like that one, but are you Morgana or Guinevere I wonder!! Nice to see a new blanket in the planning so soon after the first one was finished. And lovely bag for a very worthwhile cause. Enjoy the summer break and remember to put your feet up once in a while!

Happy belated WOYWW, not long till our coffee now :)

Great photo Jan, it's quite spooky probably due to the colours in it.

Lovely wool, perfect for a baby blanket. I have a request for two but thankfully they aren't needed until September.

Tote bag looks wonderful, may have my eye on that!

Big hugs xxx

Had trouble sending a comment on Weds so I'm late...but here!
That photos is so special, so emotive and it will make a lasting memory. Your baby blanket will look so good in that range of wool.
Gorgeous ATCs... it has been so special swapping.
Lovely to read about all the fund raising things you are making. It's a really worthwhile year of giving for you and LillyBo has benefited from a generous chunk of it.
Off now to make 9 more bags for the quilts from Spain!
Have a good weekend,

Happy Belated WOYWW, LLJ. I took a peek last Wednesday but I was a little bit afraid of the beautiful witch in the full light of the supermoon, gazing mysteriously into the fire. But then I decided you were just showing off the Mister's camera talents (woot!) and you're truly just the soft, cuddly, caring, and extremely humorous gal I always pegged you for! Fab fabrics (Oh, I like the sound of that!) and outstanding gifts in the mail! Enjoy the wee rest of the week! Darnell #24
