WOYWW 175

GET ABOUT AS OILED AS A DIESEL TRAIN,
GONNA SET THIS DANCE ALIGHT,
COS SATURDAY NIGHT'S THE NIGHT I LIKE,
SATURDAY NIGHT'S ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT.
WOOH, YEAH

Ermmm, don't know if that's really the most appropriate lyric for welcoming everyone to the WOYWW crop this Saturday..lol!! But it's one of my favourite Elton John tracks so it starts off today's post *grin*

I would say it was about a 75% for/ 25% against blinging the bag. Rock on, you Blingtastic Bunch! Actually, in the end I did a Buttons version as well as some fairly subdued bling - the fabric was loud enough on its own!!

What's on my workdesk today? A right old hotch potch, that's what! There's too much going on at the moment and I seem to have Butterfly-Minditis; I can't seem to settle to one task, another idea pops into my head and off I go, chasing rainbows. Sigh.

The makings of another linen and gingham tote....
D'ya like the pleated front going down into the pocket - an integral part of the bag? Completely and utterly part of my design from the get go, oh yes indeedy.... (and nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that I cut the linen about 5cms wider than the gingham...oh no, not at all..... *cough*)
Appliqueing (is that a real word??) some hearts onto the linen for a cushion cover with ties...
Sewing up the bean bag part of a hangie-bin whatsit...
Life sure is full on at the moment :)

Did you know I have a WOYWW soul sister in Missouri?!  We're both 51, love yarns, fabric, gardening, cookery and a shared appreciation of crochet elephants... Yup Sandie Leigh at EatWriteDreamStitch, I MEAN YOU!! We promised that we'd send each other something made completely out of scraps. This beautiful stitched ATC arrived this week...
I love it because I'd never have the patience to make this in a gazillion years!! Thank you, Sandie - I hope your parcel arrives soon :)

Thank you to all the lovely folk who commented last week, I was really touched by it all. It is taking a lot longer to comment back now work has reared its ugly head, but I promise I'll get around to you all!

Oh, and if anyone spots the Odd One Out on my desk, there might be a small prizelet winging its way soon. All will be revealed next week!

Eeek! There's something on your desk that resembles a trilobite fossil! Can that be right or do my eyes need testing? Love that green bag, top pic.

I am guessing it is the fossil - how did that get there I wonder?! Love, love, love both versions of the bag Jan. Green is my favourite colour so I am partial. I love the term Butterfly Minditis - I suffer from that too it is so much better than no Mojoitis don't you think! Happy WOYWW to you from Helen 57

Aw, Sandie's ATC is gorgeous. I like the non deliberate deliberate pleat, it's a nice addition to linen! Are you making a new line in paperweights now then?

Good Morning Jan, your desk is always very interesting and to-day is no different. I love those totes and the bins are beautiful and practical. Enjoy your day at the crop. Hugs Rita xx 81

To be honest, I looked and looked and didn't see anything out of the usual, but there again I have a teenage son so anything can be on my desk - LOL. I even have a football squeezy thing this week! So I have to admit I had to resort to the comments section before I spotted the fossil. I love the pleat too btw, just the sort of design feature I'd incorporate. BJ#24

Lovely creations as always, love the bright colours and the soft tones of the other bag. Do you think there is a limit to how many desk bags you can have lol?

Sandy's ATC is gorgeous with all of the different samples of crafts.

Take care xx

Butterfly-Minditis, is that what they call it! I suffer too so I do understand......That 'loud' bag is a really stunner, absolutely gorgeous creation. Sandie's ATC is brilliant, so much in such a little space. Hope you have a good week, Happy WOYWW, Anne x #60

Oh so that's what it's called. I'm suffering from that at the moment too!!! I think maybe the fossil might be the odd one out on your desk. Although anything us crafters use might be considered odd by other non crafters. Such gorgeous colours as always!! Karen T 90 x

Love your totes, I'm a bling kinda girl myself. Very clever the way you purposely made the fabric too wide on the bag, so you could make a pleat :) It looks fabulous, the pleat really makes it. The stitched ATC is fabulous, you are lucky.
Have a great week.

The only thing I could think that might be the odd one out was the dotty tape, when everything else is based on gingham. I am so jealous of all of you meeting up this weekend and I look forward to seeing lots of pictures of you all together. Have a wonderful time. xx Maggie #88

We always carry so must around in our bags Jan that the pleat is a perfect addition…..room for expansion is always good….I could do with that in my clothes at the moment!
Loving your pretty cushion too but as for something odd on your desk I’ve no idea. The only thing I can see that looks a little out of place id may be the Lavender Gingham ribbon hanging for the drawer because it doesn’t seem to go with anything you’re working on at the moment.

Happy Crafting!

That'll be the Ammonite then..... ROFL.... and there was me thinking it might be the knitting needle....

Gorgeous sewing as always, you talented lady! As for the pleat, surely a bag is incom-pleat without one? LOL

See you Saturday, armed with Tiffin & Flapjacks!

Nothing wrong with chasing rainbows, Jan!! You might find that fairy gateway, or pot of gold!!!
Love the gingham and that design pleat is amazing, how clever you are to come up with such original ideas!!!!!!
For me the bling bag wins, my button phobia would be no good at your house!!!
Hope you all have a brilliant time on Saturday, I'll be thinking about you.
Hugs Lisax

Hello soul sister! Can you feel the giant hug I'm sending across the pond? Seeing the scrappy ATC on your blog made my millenium! Of course, there'll be a photo shoot of yours when it arrives. Another thing that makes my day is appliqued hearts!! (yes, it is a word I think, because I've used it) That red fabric on the burlappy fabric is brilliant!! Sadly, on November 10th, I will be 52 (or maybe I should be happy about that, right?)--but we'll keep our 51 club and be soul sisters anyway! Ahhh...can't get over how cute your creations are today! Now, I must call Michaels and tell them to open up a store in Wiltshire pronto! You would have so much fun--wish we could spend an afternoon at Michaels together! But you have reminded me not to take it for granted. Hugs! --Sandy

You've lost me with the odd one out but as usual I am feeling fuzzy about your fabrics! Have fun on Saturday won't you xx

I think that the pleat really makes the bag! That ATC is simply stunning. Thanks for sharing and have a great time on Saturday. Caro #77 xx

Your seamstressie work is so marvey, Jan! Oh, to have such talent! No wonder you flit around like a butterfly with all that talent oozing out of your wings! And that pleat? I gotta say, it makes the bag look really high-end! This is how design happens! You'll probably be a trend-setter!

And, hey, if I can say bootie queue (and I'm in front with you with all the junk in my trunk!) is a word, then for sure, you can say appli queue is a word!! And then we have auntie queue (antique) and uni queue (unique).

Now get back to one of your stunning projects and have an awesome week! Thanks for coming by to see me already! Darnell #28

Wait!?! As oiled as a diesel train? Does that mean I have an excuse to go get all liquored up? And shake my groove thing? Did I miss a bling vs. don't bling vote? Did I vote? Am I alive? Hello? hello.... hello echo.... I need a keeper. Anyway, I confess that I like the bling, it is very cool bling, but not as cool as my zipper pull on my backpack, but....! but! I like the buttons on the bag better. You are right that is a loud fabric, but not as loud as the voices in my head... perhaps I should stop talking now. Or typing as the case may be. And I know the secret to the odd one out on your desk. It is a trick question because I am not on your desk.

Princess Judy Palmer said...

Holy cow! You are right, my desk does get a 3D look when you stare at the cubby underneath..... I'll bet it does that in real life too. I wonder if it has something to do with the angle? Very interesting.

Oh Jan - how I love to check out your desk - it really is fabriclicious!! And yes I agree about Sandy - she is my sort of crafter too. That ATC is so gorgeous. Your bag with the novel pleat design is perfect and I love the bling or buttons - both fab. Now about the odd knitting needle - I think I may have its sister here somewhere!! lol x Jo

No, I cannot spot the odd one out. Unless you mean that the blue stripy pot thingy doesn't match the colour scheme of your desk? I love everything about your makings and would love to make bags. Maybe that can be something I do next year. I'm thinking of 'Fifty things to do when I'm 50!'

Take care and enjoy tomorrow, even though it is without me

Love the bling bag, I was in favour of bling but I'm also drawn to the buttons too! You'll have an amazing array of soul sisters from all round the uk after this weekend's crop too you know! Love the atc, and I think I can see a knitting needle sticking up out of the bag at the far right?? Or maybe that's a back scratcher, lol!!

Loving all the gorgeousness on your desk! As for your odd thing out - is that a real fossil on your desk? I can't claim to have spotted it. i scrutinised the piccies, couldn't see anything and so read the comments and then went back on a specific hunt *g* Cheat? Moi?

Hope you all have a lovely day tomorrow - am looking forward to lots of piccies!
