 CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES!

It's been a bit of a week! In a nice way, I hasten to add. So there has been a bit of crafting done but not very much, feel free to bail out now if you want to see more inspiration on others' desks, lol!

I did sort out my crochet squares:

All ready to make a throw or blanket.  My RNLI friend Denise and her 90 year old mum Betty helped with some Easter knitting for the upcoming craft fair:

And presented me with this box of creme egg filled knitty goodness, aren't they fun?! They'll go well in Laugharne, I'm sure.

I might have succumbed to some fabric.....

Pretty, aren't they?

And that's it craftwise - after I linked up last Wednesday, I headed for my regular shift in the RNLI shop. Little did I know that people had been conniving and planning! After we'd cashed up the till, I was hoodwinked into going up to the offices above the boathouse. I was gobsmacked to see that many of the shop volunteers had gathered to see me being presented with a Special Commendation for my fundraising...I was a bit stunned!

With Trev, the station chairman.

Gordon and Rhys were there too (they'd been part of the secret as well!), it really was very special, I was very touched.

I got this engraved glass trophy as well.

This is a panoramic pic taken from the look out room at the front of the station, you can see for miles. The crew has already been out three times this year and there's the reason why I do what I do xx

But it wasn't just me who got honoured:

Laura (holding the shield) and Richard (on right) who are the owners of the Harbour Lights Cafe where my stuff is for sale, also got an award for being supporters of the RNLI. The girls who run the Collection Boxes were also there, it was a lovely morning. Many well deserved congratulations all round!

Still with me? I'm off down another path now! I've played the piano since I was small and taught many others to play on my upright, but it was coming to the end of its days and would have cost too much to repair. G suggested we look at electronic pianos and found a place in Swansea, a drab red brick building which I have driven past countless times without noticing. Inside was a bit of a surprise:

Wall to wall grand pianos, Steinways, Bechsteins etc etc. I was amazed!  We found a perfect one for us (Yamaha Clavinova) but I could have been tempted by this:

A see through baby grand built for Michael Jackson and played by many famous folk and appeared on tv many times!  But I don't have room for it in the house so it had to stay there. Never judge a book by its cover eh?

So that's been my week, definitely a change from the normal routine but it's been a lot of fun!

I did see the post on FB about the award, and so well deserved - great that it was a surprise, too! Huge congratulations. Love the see-through piano; but I can see that it would take up a bit of space...You are a woman of many talents, it seems!! Happy WOYWW Helen #1

Good morning my lovely, have you missed me? Well first of all the yumminess of those colourful squares brought a smile to my face this sunny morning. Then that beautiful doggy fabric - that is delightful!
So pleased to see you being honoured for your fundraising - you and the others truly deserve it.
That piano was gorgeous but very glamorous - shame it wouldn't fit!!
Happy WOYWW, love n hugs Cindy #3

Such a wonderful surprise for you Jan and so well deserved. What a great bunch they are. I didn't know you played the piano. I can't play really but did have an electric keyboard that I taught myself to play a little about 20 years ago. I love piano.music and imagine that in an earlier life I was a pianist! Your little box of Easter chicks and bunnies is a delight and will soon sell I'm sure. Well done on all those fab squares. x x Jo 🌈

A well deserved recognition of your charity work. All those squares look amazing - are you just that good or do you block them? So regular! That piano is amazing. But yeah, who has room? Not many people for sure. Cute egg covers as well - ah.. good friends make the world better.
Happy knitting day WOYWW!

I did wonder if the boys were in on the secret when I saw them with you on FB. Congrats again - you deserve it and what a gorgeous award that glass one is. It will look lovely on your new piano. I too learnt piano as a child but cannot play anything now and certainly cannot read music enough to play.
Love the squares, so bright and colourful - and the egg cosies. You do so much to help and to brighten the days of so many, I am chuffed I know you.
Hugs, Neet 12 xx

Dear Jan!
Congrats!! I'm so proud of you!! I have often wondered wether your commitment to RNLI is sufficiently appreciated.
Now I am so happy for you about the award you have received.
And you certainly have 1000 brownie points in heaven.
And all the other helpers round.....
I felt in love with the knitted mini Peter Rabbit and the chickens.
Your blanket would be great after finished.
I'm curious about the piano!

I am so happy that you have been awarded, and what a really lovely award too, great recognition for you and the Harbour Lights, as good and regular an income as any charity would be so happy to count on! Proud of you, and love that agordon and Rhys were there too! Great volunteer troupe!
That piano store looks like an old chapel or something that involved segregation, what a marvellous space, bet the pianos sounded wonderful in there. It's a lot of stock to carry these days isn't it; I'll be looking at bland buildings with renewed interest now!

Super post this week and what a great piano! love love love those Easter bunny knits, even more if they contain eggs!!! I'm still not sure if I have as many drawers in this new kitchen as I had in my old one...even though two of them weren't really 'nice' to use. Still, as you said, it will be fun deciding what goes where! Happy Late WOYWW!?((Lyn))#13

Such an interesting post today - well done on the award! The piano place looked amazing - we seem to be often in music shops, mainly looking at ukuleles and music as Kevin teaches for U3A. Love all the Easter knits and that's a huge number of squares!! Happy WOYWW! Susan #17

Oh the gorgeous pianos! I love the clear one! I have a Yamaha Clavinova and I love it. It is very old, and (almost) works perfectly, at least the parts that need to, work perfectly! Congratulations on your award, well earned and deserved! I love the knitted bunnies, so cute! Your blanket is going to be gorgeous with all those bright colours! Have a wonderful week, Lindart #15

Wow, Jan!
Congratulations, my friend. What a lovely surprise. I LOVE the views. I so wish I could visit.
Happy you are giving another piano an extended life, but yeah, that clear one would have been hard to pass up - and I don't play a key! LOL
Lots of squares. Id been working on scrap 2x3 blocks from my leftover yards. Had to quit when the cats and the beagle decided my lap was the place to be. I'm trying to get the studio finished so I can come in here and shut the door.
