IN THE JUNGLE, THE MIGHTY JUNGLE
(PART TWO!)
Hey there folks, hope you're doing well and have had a good week! A quick post today, am out all day so forgive my late commenting, I'll visit when I can.
I had another jungle fabric arrive last week, it was so lush I had to crack on with it straight away!
Isn't it gorgeous? And that bright green is so perfect, I might have to keep one of these and let the puffin go instead!
I had a big old sort out of my stock for fundraising on Saturday which is just as well as I had a call from Laura at the cafe saying things had gone low again, so I restocked on Sunday.
Some more string blocks! I know Annie was doing some as well so I look forward to seeing what she's done. I think that one bright coral stripe probably stands out too much but it makes a statement, lol!!
I shifted my machine around so the weight of the quilt would be on the table as I attached the border - it's not ideal as the table bounces a bit when the machine is going but needs must.
And I had a tot up of the latest blanket squares I'm knitting:
Just over half of the total needed, I've got some warm greys and more of the variegated yarn (on the bottom) to use, plus the navy as well. Knitting squares definitely takes longer than crochet but I quite like the denser result plus it's easier on my hands too.
And that's it, short and sweet - hope you have a fab day catching up with friends around the world xxxxx

Like you, I was surprised to see Julia already posted so followed your lead and joined in. I ADORE that jungly fabric... it's beautiful. and the green dots set it off perfectly. Hope your day out is a fun one. Happy WOYWW Helen #2
That jungle print is the best I've seen in along time. It reminds me of a Paul Gaugin jungle print.
The coral stands out a bit, but when it was laid out, the one bright red strip was the one I saw first. It felt out of place to me. Like you, I am also driven by color.
Looks like the sewing machine needed the extra support for that quilt. Happy WOYWW from # 6.
Oh my I love that jungle fabric!! And a brillliant contrast withh that lime green!! I'm sure once the border is on that pink stripe will make less of a statement - still looks brilliant!! Have a lovely day out, we have blue skies and sunshine here in London and it elevates my mood so much! Have a good week, love n hugs Cindyxx #9
I like that pop of red Jan - I love a random splash! The jungle and green look fab together and you will love seeing that. Hope you have a good day.x x Jo
That jungle fabric is truely lush. It looks like being a nice day today so hope you have fun whatever you're doing. Hugs. Angela x15x
That jungle fabric is fab Jan...I can see why you just had to use it. I'm loving the strip quilting. Mine is really random because it's just made with scraps from years of sewing but although I like order normally I am really loving the randomness of the squares [I've now made enough for 2 quilts 4x5 10" square size] and have run out of the long strips needed for the middle so either I look to see what I can use the short strips for or I have to cut more long ones :-)
Thanks for sharing the idea cos I'm loving it and looking back at my fabrics I can remember what I used most of them for years back :-)
Hugs,
Annie x
What gorgeous vibrant colors in that jungle print fabric and that green just pops! I do love how you have your machine set up...mine is on the same kind of table sitting in my living room. I'm thinking about taking over the guest bedroom because no one ever comes here to sleep over so it would never be missed.

Fab projects as ever Jan. And you re right about that jungle fabric. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #16
That lime polka dot is just perfect with that jungle print - and that jungle print is fabulous. Going to be a good seller I can predict.
Love the quilt and I don't mind the coral piece, it's a statement.
Good luck with the rest of the knitting - I like grey and since using alcohol markers have discovered so many shades of grey.
Have a great day out.
Hugs, Neet 3 xx
"LUSH" is defo the word for it in a really strong Welsh accent too luv! ADORE that green and the jungle fabric - defo fabric envy here LOL green envy LOL. I can just feel/sense your table quivering as you bumble along with your sewing. Yes the knitted squares are much denser, much better for a blanket. Asda, school supplies aisle for the Posca pens, if you are lucky, not many left today £12 for 8 though which was why I resisted last year, but made up for it this year by just getting the standard colours as well! Hi Jan, I love your jungly print. You are allowed to have two bags, especially since you make so many for others! Your quilt is looking great and your knitted squares are lovely.
My chevron crochet is a blanket for the bed.
Take care and happy WOYWW

I adore that jungle fabric (and I know Tony would) You really are busy aren't you! Such a beautiful desk to visit! Hugs, Chrisx #21
Love that particular collection of squares, real gem colours aren't they. And I like the coral stripe, didn't notice it standing out till you pointed it out, and now I think you should do a standout stripe on every quilt, like your signature strip! We're in Cornwall working and playing at the Flower House. Sea air, sleeping like a log, just as I do at your place!
Dealing with aging-parent health issues yesterday so a bit late. Do you ever sleep? Such a lot of gorgeous colour this week - and indeed every week. LOVE the new fabric so much.
Happy late WOYWW!

Dear Jan!
Sorry for not leaving a comment last week here. But you know, we were at a competition in Italy.
The Jungle Print is amazing! So fresh, so green, so nice.
You did so many projects, you buzy bee.
Wish you all the best!!
Eva from hot Austria
I love your string quilt. I've only made one and it was all in reds and whites. The colors in yours are so much fun you've inspired me to make another one. Thanks, sometimes I need a little encouragement to get me going.
Happy quilting,
Connie :)
