 SIMPLE PLEASURES....

Sorry I was missing last week, both G and I hadn't been at all well and I simply wasn't up to posting/commenting. Thank goodness for the Winter Olympics, we watched a lot of it from the sofa!

About the only crafting I felt like for a week was some light crocheting. There was a call out for flowers for a future project in the village and I had a lot of scraps to use up:

They're quick to run up and I enjoyed making them. When I took this pic, I had to move away a vase of flowers but then realised that I had to put them back in shot:

They're exactly the same colours!! Complete coincidence but it made me happy :-D

We had to get a couple of keys cut and the only sewing I've done was to make some key fobs from fabric scraps:

The small pattern works well.

I have to say a huge thank you to Twiglet who sent me these gorgeous covered notebooks she made:

You're a neat worker Jo, they really are fab and will sell like hot cakes down at the Harbour Lights, all proceeds to the RNLI. I LOVE the lace and ric rac waves!

We've had the woodburner going recently, it's cheered us up and Ron the Cat thought it was fab too:

G had left the tea towel on the floor after using it to carry something and the obvious happened, lol! Ron's nearly 20 now so the fire was warming his old bones - joio (Welsh for enjoying!)

I am sorry you and G were both poorly - I did miss you last week and wondered if you'd been able to get away - shame that it was only to the sofa to recover from your illness!
The crocheted flowers look amazing - and especially alongside your vase of flowers.
Take care ad happy WOYWW Helen #?

Hi Jan, Sorry you and hubby have been ill. Glad you are on the mend now.

Love the flowers. They'd look nice on a hat.

Key fobs are nice. Should think you'd sell them in the shop as well. The notebooks will be snapped up.

Think I would have joined Ron in front of the fire. My old bones don't like this cold and wet weather.

Happy WOYWW

Oh those flowers are adorable! I suspect it is like when the kids were young I often found we would be wearing similar colours. I think as I dressed them, my own thoughts about colour for my own clothes was in my mind. So I bet those lovely flowers were in your mind as you crocheted. The notebooks are fab (lovely work by Jo, as ever) and the key fobs are a great idea - perfect for scraps!

Have the happiest of WOYWW!

Gosh Ron is a real old man so he needs to sit on something warmish and warm his toes and whiskers by the fire. Bless him.
Sorry to hear you have not been well, knew about G but not you. Hope the two of you are feeling much better and improve each day.
Love the crochet, those flowers and the real ones look great together, wonder if your sub conscience was at work when you were crocheting.
Take care, be like Ron and keep warm by the fire.
Hugs, Neet 2 xx

Sorry to hear you've been poorly but glad to see you back again. Lovely to see your kitty enjoying the new woodburner. We used to have a dog when I lived at home that would sit with his feet on the fireplace and always had bits of burnt fur but it never put him off. Gorgeous designs on the note books and loving the flowers too. Happy woyww, Angela x8x

Thanks for the butt warmer LOL. Jan, you almost never post about Ron - I think I've only ever seen him once - years ago (incidentally, in front of the fire then as well, cause I still remember your caption about his whiskers getting singed! I hope Oreo will live that long! Lovely crocheted flowers and how wonderful that your were instinctively/subconsciously inspired by the real things. Jo's notebooks are fantastic - I love beach houses! Hope you're both feeling much better now. xx zsuzsa #7

Hope your back to feeling much better, great photos and wow flower colors sure are blended together. Love crocheting small items, but trying the slow stitch this year. Wow 20 is getting up there for your sweet cat. Bailey is 13 and starting to like heat. Still has wild runs thru the house off and on !! Then he sleeps. Enjoy a great weekend.Girls High school basketball tournaments start here tomorrow, and with the olympics I'll enjoy some TV otherwise it's not the best.

Glad you’re both feeling better, Jan. Your crochet flowers are lovely I very much like your key rings too. They would sell well at the Harbour lights shop as well. Jo’s covered notebooks are fab.
So glad Ron is getting to warm his old bones by the fire. Gracie and Bella have been doing some fire worshiping too. 😻😻
You asked me last week about crochet daffodils. Do you want me to show you how, on a Zoom call?
Take care and happy WOYWW

Gorgeous crochet flowers Jan - can you please send me a link? They would look fab on my twiddlers and as you know - I have bags full of scraps I can use up. Those colours make my heart sing! I'm not good at following a pattern so I hope they really are easy! I hope you are both feeling much better now and able to get out and about a bit - although we too have enjoyed the Olympics. Cosy moggy pic. xx Jo

Happy WOYWW. Sorry to hear that you and G have not been well. Hopefully you are both feeling stronger now. Can I borrow you to attend our next 2 monthly craft groups? We are going to be doing crochet and that is one craft that I have never successfully tackled (I can just about knit, but crochet - beyond a simple chain - cannot fit into my brain successfully). Your photo of the flowers and the crochet twins made me happy too. Ron is a very good age (Milky is nearly 15) and of course he had to sit on that tea towel. Stay indoors in front of the fire this week - far too many storms for my liking. Ali x #17

I hiopenyoure both back to nearly full on, it’s hard to imagine you being so out of action. I think Ron has the right idea, and I wouldn’t need the tea towel to encourage me. OOh, daytime fire…that’s when you know you’re chilling! I’ve just put my glasses case and matching key fob tag thing in the wash…I know we’ve often exclaimed about how ridiculously useful they are…never mind a novelty key ring, looking for that particular material in my bag is incredibly useful, so much easier to find! I LOVE the crochet flowers…such a wonderful splash of colour, right up my street. Blimey Missus, if you can turn them out kwhilst poor
Y, I’m expecting a full on floral carpet next!

Sorry you have been poorly, Don't you find when you are resting because of illness you don't feel guilty about crafting. You can sit all day knitting etc. Ani.

Sorry, what you and hubby had to go through.
But now I'm so happy that you are back again on your blog.
Oh, these nice crocheted flowers, the key fobs and those lovely covered notebooks from Twiglet.
It touches me to see your old cat sitting in front of the fireplace.
Clever Ron!
Best wishes and all the best for health!

Ron looks very comfy in front of the fire! My Ron (hubby!) has been looking at electric fire inserts for our fireplace which we have never used in the 20 years since we've lived her. The fireplace is in an odd room in the basement and we are thinking of making that room more comfortable. Is yours real or electric? The notebooks and key fobs are beautiful! How lovely that Twiglet made the notebooks for your group! Have a great week, Lindart #23
