PRETTY CHITTY BANG BANG, WE LOVE YOU
It's been a busy old week with some crafting, socialising and banding, pretty good mixture really!
The JanCave has been busy:
This heap is actually a pile of bag panels, not that it looks like it at all! And the fabric at the far end are pockets/flaps waiting to be attached to the right bag (and that's not me, I hasten to add *grin*)
I bought some new fabric from Amothreads, so I'll be right for the foreseeable future:
Cottons - my son fancied the jungle one as a shirt! All for tote bags that fold up.
This is furnishing weight, not sure what this will be yet - good pattern though and perfect for selling down the harbour.
I treated myself to some new drawing pencils:
The only ones I had before were about 3 inches long leftover from when I worked in school! These go up to 9B, very dark and smudgy.
I got my beautiful coloured pencil tin out as well, just to play...
The view from our harbour over to the Gower. Another entry in my watercolour journal, that's two, woohoo! Let's see how long this lasts, lol!!
Another couple of pics from G - there's a properly good range of scenes and this made me smile:
The family posing in their car (note little girl with a huuuuuuge bonnet) which is a nice enough photo but when you zoom in....
I wonder if the driver got told off for ruining the pic by pulling a face, lol! Kids will be kids, even over a hundred years ago. It made me very happy seeing that.

Hi Jan, that’s a great drawing of BP harbour. You always were good at drawing. I’ve still got a condor you drew.
That’s a fine crop of fabrics for your bags. Brian is partial to a bright beach shirt now and then, too.
When I zoomed into your photo, they all seemed to be pulling faces, especially the girl behind the driver.
That’s such a good collection of photos. I wonder if there are any family members left?

Ah, wonderful fabrics and you're now drawing too! Is there anything you can't do? The landscape looks amazing. The old photos are very good quality - just imagine all these moments were hidden for long decades and now we get a glimpse into the lives of real people all those years ago. Incredible really! Gorgeous fabrics Jan - they will be put to very good use I am sure. Your sketch of Burry Port Lighthouse is lovely - makes me feel I want to do a fabric collage of same pic! G's photo is funny isn't it - kids don't change over the years do they. I love to see the hats and costumes. Hope you are well - sounds like you are enjoying getting out and about a bit. xx Jo

Morning Jan. Oh my - everyone has been so very busy this week! And you are no exception! Fabulous material - it will all look so good when made into bags and put out on the counter to sell. Oooo... new pencils - good for you. Nothing like a good set of pencils to have a go with. I do like the oranges and lemon picture, and the one of the lighthouse is gorgeous - well done. Your latent talent for drawing and painting is really coming out young lady!!!

Gorgeous fabrics Jan, I'm rather partial to the jungle one too - perhaps it's reminding us of warmer sunnier days to come! I love your little sketch - those colouring pencils look so irresistible all in colour order - just lovely.
Thank you so much for the suggestion on mending Looby Loo, I think you are right about the holes puckering if they are gathered - I shall definitely use a stabiliser and I shall try some proper darning too - not done that since I was a gal!
I love the photo of the little boy at the wheel, although the girl behind looks rather mischievous too!

When I was a stroppy kid with my bottom lip out mum used to call it my "doorstep" and say it was "big enough to sit on". I definitely recognise the look of that little boy. G has some beauties in his collection - keep them coming.
Love your sketch, you have been hiding your talent for drawing and papercraft in general and that range of B pencils is fantastic. Should get some great shading done with those.
Fab fabric too - I do like that seaside pattern, hope you find something to make with it - carpet bags?

Oh my think I missed last week and the sewing machine return, I was rather late to the party (had had mine out too LOL). Anyway jolly fine seeing the sewing machine back and at the ready with super new fabrics begging to be put to use. Oh the rainbow organised pencils are perfect and your lighthouse page is super. Aww! Nice to see you treating yourself. The drawing of your local scene is beautiful. You have a real talent. I like your choice of fabric, especially the nautically patterned furnishing fabric. As you say, perfect for the shop. The faces of the children in the photos are priceless - a reminder that kids of every generation will be kids. Well that’s a fab pose from the Car family, how fun. Wonder how pleased the parents were when they saw it, I mean, those pics aren’t exactly point and shoot! Your drawing of the lighthouse is fab, I love the rendition of the stone wall, recognised it immediately. You would I think like the architectural painting style of Kate Lycett, all accuracy and perspective swathed in colour and gold. Lovely stuff. I’ve finished and packed the sewing machine away already, but quite enjoyed the change of material and project for a minute. Got Jenny home this week, catch up with you before long. Xxxxxx
