I SAW A MOUSE! WHERE? THERE ON THE STAIR....
How can it be the 1st of September today? It was only yesterday that we celebrated New Year. Tempus Fugit extremely quickly, that's all I can say!
I haven't done much crafting at all this week, the weather has been fantastic in Wales and so we were seeing friends or in the garden, even arranging the schedule for the WI Craft Club which starts in October (hooray!)
G needed a new mask and I'd seen a different design (supposedly better for fog free glasses) on YouTube, so I thought I'd give it a go.
I found a nice blue bit of fabric, drew out the template and set to.
There was a bit of origami to do but it was straightforward...
It's an odd shape but seems to do the trick with the glasses so that's a result!
I also had time on Monday to do a bit of painting - whilst following my nose on YouTube, I'd come across Ellen Crimi Trent's tutorials and liked the ones she calls Mini Mondays (there's loads, too many to link) so had a bit of a play.
There were mini flower meadows:
Bit more practise needed I think! Ellen uses 3x3" squares but I just drew around a coaster as that was to hand!

and a bit of nonsense but I needed something for a birthday card as well:
A mouse in some tea cups just because, lol! Not high art but a lot of fun to do :-D

Oh sweet, those mousies, but not when they are scampering around the house! Love the mask, I have ade that design as well, but for me they don't keep glasses clear as much as the anti-fog spray/wipe. Ah well.
Is Julia having a lie-in? Good for her!

Hi Jan, your watercolour painting is beautiful - the flowers are exquisite and I love the mouse in the teacups - so cute. The mask looks interesting, I'm glad it does the job, misty glasses seems to be a big problem with mask wearing.

The mouse in the cup is gorgeous and the new mask looks good too. I saw one made from a circular piece that worked really well as it had a piece for the nose and chin by turning parts in a similar way. Have a lovely woyww, Angela x6x
That little mouse pic is brilliant Jan - high art? of course it is!! I love the soft muted watercolours - they will make fab cards or tiny framed pics. Still chuckling at your bush/secateurs comment and suddenly Brazillian rainforest popped into my head! xx Jo

That mask looks a lot more comfortable than most of the patterns I have found.

I could do with frost free glasses with a mask on, might have to search out that pattern...Super paintings again, maybe when I get my hand sorted I might try some!!! Adore the mouse. Have to say all the scrapbooking is great to look back on, even my son is amazed of the things we have done and get reminded of. I guess they are my sort of diary. BJ#18
Awww, the mouse is so cute! I do a lot of "following my nose" on YT too! Your watercolour florals are fantastic - so light and delicate! I've never seen a mask with that design - does it really stop the misting of your glasses? I don't normally wear glasses out and about, but I do need them for checking product information in shops and it's annoying when they mist up. I've become a bit lax with my mask wearing lately - I only wear them where the majority of people wear them (interesting the difference between Waitrose and Home Bargains, both of which I frequent) - but if a shop is crowded, I won't even go in. Such an educational morning! First I looked up Tempus Fugit, although I had a pretty good idea what it meant. Did you know you can get a Tempus Fugit Grandfather Clock? What's with all this papercrafting? And not a rubber stamp in sight - all hand drawn or painted freely byj you! Wow, you have had this talent hidden and I am so glad it has come out at last. Lovely work Jan.
The mask sounds interesting, was thinking of asking for the pattern but if it involves anything resembling origami forget it, I am hopeless with a piece of paper and instructions never mind fabric.

Thank you for your visit, and I'm pleased you like my Fibonacci spiral nautilus pendant! It is rather special. I have wanted to own a nautilus shell for so many years and this miniature one is just the ticket. As for the mosaic, this afternoon I decided to take your advice and see if I could darken the grout. I did my old mixed media trick of painting the whole thing with black acrylic and before it dried, rubbed it off the surface with a damp sponge so that the paint in the recessed bits remained. I need to do it two or three times more, but already I think it's a great improvement! Photos next week. Thanks so much - I think I may get to like the piece a bit more now! I'm hoping to have some pics of Phase Two of the DVD project by next week too.

What a super idea with the mask, it’s a pain in the backside when your glasses get fogged up. I’ve never enough free hands to clear them as it’s usually when I’m shopping

Hi Jan! Neat new mask! Do you have a link for it? I was at the theater last night, wearing a mask, of course, and my glasses kept fogging up. I may get a job soon, and I'm sure the same thing will happen in I have to wear a mask for long periods of time. I love the yarn bombing in your last post, so colourful and happy! Your painting skills are awesome. I Love that stack of teacups, one of my favourite sort of image, in picture or for real. You clever old brush.
I hope your weather is a bit good this week too, we seem to have long cloudy days that just don’t shift till about 6pm, then the sun appears but it’s a bit low for warmth. Frustrating!
