WOYWW 604

FOR AULD LANG SYNE, MY DEAR.....

Here we are at the end of one of the most tumultuous years ever, it seems to have whipped by so quickly which is strange given how life has been less frenetic. The Wednesdays have been a point of focus in all those weeks and I thank you for the support and friendship - let's hope that 2021 is a kinder year for us all.

The JanCave is still out of bounds so crafting continues at the dining table and on the sofa:

My school friends and I are all turning 60 in 2021 and Diane is the first so that's why the card making paraphernalia is out!

The 'ballerina' photo is from a sketch we did at school, I was also dressed up like that!! Note the gorgeous 70s blue eye shadow, lol! That pic is going on the inside of the card to give her a surprise *grin*  She doesn't read my blog so I think it's safe to share!  There'll be a whole series of 60ths until it's my turn in August!

I started a crochet stripey blanket on the Zoom Crop day and finished it a couple of days back:
Rainbow stripes made me smile! I picked these two variegated balls up in a bargain bin and fancy knitting up some beanies.

I had a lot of lovely presents for Christmas including three jigsaws, this was my favourite.....

My boys, then and now, I may have shed a tear..... :-)

Happy New Year everyone, thanks for the desky nonsense that has helped me immeasurably this year, I look forward to seeing what you're all getting up to in 2021 xxxxxxxx

Aw mate, you get out what you put in and your activity in staying in touch is legendary. I want to see you in 2021, so could you please get it sorted, I’m bored and a bit scared of it now. Meanwhile, back in the 90s...that puzzle is amazing, especially in context of the current photo! What I hadn’t noticed is that the boys are standing in front of similar backgrounds, one more modern than the other, that’s all! Loved today’s post.

What a fabulous birthday card that is going to be. I just would not have thought of something like that (I am brainless when it comes to things like that) but would have loved to be your friend from school and be turning 60 this year. Lucky Diane!
Lucky you too to get a jigsaw like that from your sons. What a beautiful present. I must remember about that for one of my jigsaw making friends.
All the Very Best for the New Year Jan, may you and yours stay safe and well, and thanks for the friendship which means a lot to me.
Hug, Neet xx 13

OMG! That puzzle is wonderful! Lucky you. I so need one of them - with my kids on it obviously, although yours ARE lovely.

The blankie is sweet and the yarn yummy. I do love a bit of squishy goodness. I am on the sleeves of a bulky, comfy sweater and with luck will finish it up in a day or so. I love the finishing up of a long project - so nice to feel like you have accomplished something.

Happy (almost) 2021 to you and yours, and wishing you well in the year to come!

Gorgeous blanket Jan but even more gorgeous jig-saw. What a great idea and so typical of your two to come up with it for you. All the best for 2021 - we WILL see you I am sure!! xxx

Great idea for the puzzle - glad they are still with you even if you can't get into your Jancave. the blanket is beautiful, you've been much more creative than me the last few days. Looking forward to a much more normal year, although I fear we may have to wait until 2022 for that! Wishing you all a very Happy New Year, however! I hope to have something more productive soon.. not sure when, just soon! Helen #5

What a great photo they’ve chosen for your jigsaw!
That blanket is going to make someone very happy.
Love to you all, stay safe and happy WOYWW

Awww, that's a brilliant jigsaw and your boys look so much like you - especially Owen (in the red hoody?) - he has the same exact eyes and smile as you and his brother bears some resemblance to you as well! Wishing you and your family lots of happiness in 2021, Jan! Hopefully, you can be out and about with your band soon - I know you must have missed it! xx zsuzsa #24

And thank you for your desky nonsense too, Jan. You have certainly helped me get through this annus terribilis which, by the way, hasn't got much better - not yet - but I have high hopes for 2021. Love the then and now photos of your lovely boys ... what a brilliant jigsaw that is! I can't believe you are turning 60 - surely not!!! Your friend is going to love the card too, especially when she sees that photo inside. Love your stripey blanket and the balls of yarn will make lovely beanies. Take care my lovely friend. I wish you and yours all the best for 2021. Hugs, Elizabeth x #32

Jan, I know you will be ready to get things back in order for your crafting area, but I also know it's probably worth the putout! I LOVE the card you are doing for your friend! It's hysterical! I know she will get a kick out of it!! I remember that blue eye shadow all too well! My mother would not let me wear it, so I would sneak and put it on at school because I kept the shadow in my locker!! LOL Those were the days! I'm only a few years behind you, so my turn is coming!! I'm just amazed that I have made it this long considering the rough road I led in my teen years! LOL I LOVE your puzzle from your boys!! What a treasured gift! I am SURE there were a few tears, I know I would have balled like a baby! And the finished blanket is so yummy! I LOVE IT!! I did not do any knitting this past holiday....shame on me...I need to do some new years projects! Happy New Year to you friend and many blessings, Felica #31

Wow! Awesome puzzle! I would love to have one of my DD! Anyway, speaking of Birthdays...Happy 60th whenever that may be! Welcome to the sexy 60's (I just made that up - works though!)! I will be 67 on Friday...why can't we just go backwards when we hit 60? Anyway, I'm sure your friend will get a hoot out of that photo! Happy New Year...it HAS to be better than 2020, at least we are seeing the light at the end of the long long tunnel...stay safe! Lindart #34

Hi Jan, the jigsaw definitely made me smile - have you completed it yet? The picture of your boys holding the jigsaw is lovely, they are so thoughtful - I would have shed a tear or two! Either you are superwoman when it comes to crochet or it stitches up really fast (or both). I know you told me the stitch you were doing, but I can't remember - I'll see if I can work it out lol. Glad your son liked the blanket - does that mean it is destined for him? It's so cheery with the rainbow colours. Thanks for the visit - the Lavinia card just needs a bit of embossing to make it pop! It was good fun all of us dressing up for Christmas Day - so I have decided when we have our biennial family holiday this year (fingers crossed it goes ahead) that we should have a fancy dress day/evening- 70s theme for the adults and a favourite character theme for the kids. Have a lovely week, and take care, hugs Heather xx #30

Your blanket is amazing! I was so inspired, I have ordered some new yard and plan to make one of my own. Thanks for the inspiration! I will have to go back through your posts to see the stitch you used, I don't recognize it!

Love the puzzle! What a great gift!

Happy New Year!

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness what an AMAZING jigsaw your boys got for you!!!

The gradient jigsaw from my boy was quite straight forward doing the edges but not so sure about the rest but all sorted colour wise so set to go.

Obviously I love the stripy blanket, adore colours as the gradient jigsaw highlights.

Oh gosh 60yrs this coming year, I'm not far behind only 3yrs, doesn't it creep up on you somewhat. Like the sentiment about it only being on the outside, that's definitely true.

Happy New Year BJ#10

Wow Jan, you are going to have to make a lot of special cards this year if you and your friends are all turning 60! I suggest die-cutting a whole batch of sixties - it will save a lot of work!! Your blanket is fantastic, and well done, finishing it so quickly. I adore rainbow stripes, too. So bright and colourful and cheerful.

Thank you for your visit, and I'm glad the bee doing a Celtic knot dance made you smile! Just the way my weird imagination takes me, sometimes! The kitty throw is coming on fine, but there was no way I was going to get it finished in time for Christmas.

Happy New Year to you, too, and happy WOYWW,
Shoshi x #25

I just wanted to pop and say Happy New Year - well I hope it will be. I blogged but still struggling to link up :-( Take care, stay safe. Anne x
