HAVE YOURSELF A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS....

I think that the Christmas lyrics can be rolled out now, lol, I've missed playing carols with my brass band so much so can't hold back any longer..... ;-)

As the JanCave resembles Mission Control at Houston with all the computer stuff that my son needs for his job in cyber security, I've had to resort to crafting where I can! And it's pretty much what I showed you last week except things have moved on a bit....

The Aida has been shifted on the hoop so I can do the right hand bit of the pattern. You can see some new flosses in the small tub as I needed some greys. At the back you can see our games box, we love all sorts of games in our house, from board games of all sorts to Yahtzee. Eldest son and I have a Cribbage tournament going (I'm 4-3 up at the moment), it's a great game, my whole family play and that maybe explains why we're all good at maths, cos there's a lot of quick counting involved!

I was setting up for a video call and had the crochet to hand whilst chatting:

Note high tech stand for my ipad, lol!! The blanket has grown, I've just started the sequence of rainbow stripes at red again. Hey Shaz, can you see that the bay tree you and Doug bought me all those years ago is still doing well in the big blue pot?!

Annie Claxton sent me this gorgeous card to celebrate The Big 600, it's a keeper for sure!
The details are fantastic and so precise (I can see why you're so good at those book nooks Annie!)  The little crochet elves were sent to me years ago by a desker called Famfa, in Canada - they come out every year and I often wonder how she's getting on.

I was in our local Co-op and saw this amazing yarn bombed Christmas tree, the details were amazing and the knitting and crochet expertise too good not to share:
It was about 6' tall - I didn't know which detail to focus on first, they were all so good...

You can just see more and more detail! It must have taken ages to set up - I hadn't even spotted the Grinch whilst taking the pic.

A little nod to all the amazing NHS workers who continue to do such a fantastic job. I've just noticed the pompom Christmas pud, that's a fun idea!

Knitted prezzies and poinsettias....

And a mutant Santa/Mickey Mouse...room for everything, I suppose!

And of course, if you have a woolly tree, you have to have....

...the angel on the top - whoever made her is a fantastic knitter, great attention to detail, even her halo is covered in yarn, she's beautiful!

So, there you go, not the usual sort of desk reveal but I hope you enjoyed the tour nevertheless!  Enjoy the next week, avoid the crowds and make lots of time to fit in some crafting, whatever it is xxxxx

Lovely tree! Back in the olden days (last year, pre-Covid) I used to contribute to the Waitrose yarn-bombing via one of my knitting groups. This sort of tree was in the plan for this year. No idea if it is still happening!

and your stitching is coming along nicely - my USA friend who is ALSO xstitching says she is finding it hard to get DMC floss, as it's French! Will that be a casualty of Brexit too?? Hope not!

Happy too close to Christmas WOYWW!

Morning Jan. Definitely time for the Christmas music - I currently have The Spinners Christmas cd on!! I seem to remember being there at a live concert - absolutely years ago!!!
You are doing well with the cross stitch and the blanket! They look good. I also have a similar set up when on a whatsapp call - piles of books and cds in my case, stacked up in front of my computer or on the dining table!
That knitted Christmas tree is stunning - so much work has gone into it. You could spend hours in front of it - and still see new things all the time.
Take care. God bless.

Oh Jan that tree is simply gorgeous....so much work has gone into making it so you're right, it needed to be shared. It was so lovely to chat yesterday...we really must do it more often.

I have to go back and look at the tree again although I did spend time peeking as it is. What a fabulous tree. I would be impressed with the bare tree never mind all the little things on it. Did you find out who was responsible - I mean is it a WI thing or what? Amazing!
I am impressed with your embroidery, for some reason I imagined it was round, like the hoop, gosh it will be marvellous when finished. Love the crochet blanket and the Christmas shelf, I feel I have seen them somewhere!
Ah well, must get on, there is so much prep for this class.
Hugs as always, Neet 16 xx

That Christmas tree is amazing, it reminds me of one they normally have at the NEC for the Christmas Craft show but obviously not his year though it was much taller. Someone has spent a long time getting that together. Thanks for letting us see it. Have a lovely WOYWW and stay safe, Angela x12x

What a lot of fun Christmas goodies, Jan. The yarn bombed tree is amazing. Your crochet blanket has certainly grown since the Zoom, and your cross stitch is coming on a treat. Thanks for your visit, and I'm glad you are enjoying my kitty crochet!

Never hold back on Christmas songs Jan, in my humble opinion it’s never too early or late for a bit of Christmas to brighten our days. Thanks for popping by and I hope you have an opportunity to play in the band very soon. Smashing tree, very festive to put a smile on everyone’s face. Hugs for a happy Christmas, Sue. #20. xx

Hi Jan, Stitching is coming along, as is the blanket. So colourful.

My dads parents played various card games, so my dad had grown up with them. He then passed them on to mum, my brother and I. I've even got the peg board like you have. Don't play cards now. When my brother and sil visit we tend to play Trivial Pursuit.

The tree in the shop window is lovely. I noticed the NHS doll has the same problem as me, in that it's mask has ridden up to cover the eyes:)

Well you take care.

Happy WOYWW
Sue

The tree is lovely - what a huge amount of work gone into it and the angel is so beautifully made - what a lift to the spirits to see that while out shopping. I used to love Cribbage and played it a lot but haven't for years now - I don't know why - I seem to recall counting and saying 'one for his knob'- is that still a thing!? The embroidery is looking fabulous and growing quickly.
Hope you have a great week,

Oh Jan - what a gorgeous tree - all those wonderful little knitty detail. I might make one for next year - then my other half won't need to moan about buying a real tree! Lovely to "see" you yesterday. Let's do it again but with a gin and tonic next time! xx Jo

"Mission Control at Houston" LOL that's funny! I had to look up Cribbage as I didn't know how it was played - it sounds a bit complicated to me! Why 31, I wonder? There must be a mathematical reason. The yarn Christmas tree looks awesome - surely a community project as one person would not have been able to create it. How did they even come up with this idea? Thanks for your visit Jan! Enjoy your son's company, but I bet you're looking forward to reclaiming the Jan Cave in January! xx zsuzsa #27

Hi Jan - Jan Jan, craft where you can! :) I have colonised the dining table and the conservatory as well as my craft room - well that's what tables are for I think! Ah cribbage, haven't played that for ages, but we do have a board, must get that out at Christmas. My hubby used to be capt of a cribbage team years ago, so he would love that. WE have loads of games too, love board games. OMG that TREE!! I love it, what a brilliant idea and clearly so many people have come together to create it. Might pinch your photos to save for inspiration :) Annie C #28

Lot's of great projects to see! Your rainbow blanket is going to be so fun! We like games too, but only play them on vacations. We watch too much tv mostly because you don't have to think I guess. That crochet tree is amazing! so much to see ~ I love the stars, they would make nice present toppers too.
Enjoy the season! Love, Karen #32

Jan, I still love how your stitching is coming along! I really can't wait to see the finished product! And can we give a high five for how neatly all your flosses are put together and organized. I have bins that are organized by color of flosses that I acquired from my father after his passing! He was MORE OCD than me.....if that's possible. He was quite the talented needlepoint crafter and I have a couple of his unfinished pieces that I took along with his floss stash when he passed. I aim to finish them one day in his honor, but goodness, can we get a few more days in the week???? LOL Anywho, my point was that he, like you, was very floss organized and mine would be all thrown together, tangled and a mess! LOL Blanket is looking great!! And can we talk about those super super cute elves!!!!! Love, love them! Ok and the tree!!!! Oh my stars, its awesome!! Goodness knows how long it took to assemble, but the crafter's talent that is displayed is so lovely! Especially that angel!! The Merriest of Christmas's to you Jan and many blessings come your way! Oh that yarn bombed tree is just amazing!! So many details and the tree itself is pretty impressive. I have to 'fess up Jan it was no big hardship getting the prosecco corks for my snowmen and reindeer - I still have about a 100!! I'm not sure why we keep them. Thank you for your visit and your christmas card - that will be kept after the festivities. I'm sure you are missing 'carolling' - I know nothing makes it feel more like Christmas than hearing a brass band (usually the Sally Army) belting out the carols in the local pub. Sad times, but always next year I guess. Have a good week, stay well, stay safe, Cindy #26

Wow that tree is fantastic, the angel on the top reminds me of a smaller version of angels we made at church last year and left around the village telling folk of the Christmas services. Ani

Hi Jan, your lovely threads might tempt me to get my cross stitching out over Christmas and tackle the completion of David's birth chart, but I don't want to rush it. He was only born in 2012, so I'm so far behind he will get it for a wedding present lol. I'm in awe of the yarn Christmas tree and ornaments - there must be some very patient crocheters in your area. Ooh Yahtzee - one of our favourite games (my daughters and I). Thanks for stopping by earlier... Aye my dear - I have lots of projects on the go at any one time - stops me from ever getting bored! I'm not sure of my favourite stitch yet - the latest blue one "mini waffle" is quite nice - but so is the yellow one "mesh". I have no idea what the stitches are actually called though. All good fun! Have a lovely week, Heather xx #30

Oh I spotted the cribbage board straight away. Ironically, as I had it in my Amazon wish list my Hubby bought me one for my Birthday last February BUT he isn't a card player and doesn't really want to learn although he has tried a couple of times. Son much the same, so it has sat UNUSED all year! Such a shame, same goes for the backgammon set. Son will play UNO, Hubby just doesn't concentrate so we had to draw an arrow to pass on the the next player to get him to play his turn!!! Sigh.
Amazing tree, close ups much appreciated.
Glad I give you a surprise with some of my scrapbook pages - LOL

That tree is amazing. I love the knitted shapes that actually make the tree, how clever it is. And the Angel is a beauty, my mum had a book full of those character patterns, she made loads over the years. Happy memory! Your Christmas cards have been on show around the desks and I keep meaning to tell you how fab they all are. I’m not going to say you should do more, because that will cause you to shut down, but I encourage you to do more!!! Must catch up, maybe you want to watch me tidy up tomorrow afternoon?!!

It's all around us. Son in NJ on east coast could get 36 in. with the Noreaster coming. WOW that woolly tree is amazing. Great to see you Saturday. Enjoy the weekend.

What a fantastic tree! So many things to look at, and all knitted or crocheted! Are you allowed to donate to the tree?
Your embroidery is coming along beautifully! And your blanket just radiates joy and Spring to come, such lovely happy colours. My hubby has been playing Christmas Carols non-stop in his cave since last week, every once in awhile he bursts out in song, which is lovely to hear from upstairs! So get those carols playing and sing along! Have a lovely week, Lindart #33
