YOU GOTTA HAVE FRIENDS...

I was having a proper sulk last weekend, the bounce properly went out of my bungee. It's not often I feel sorry for myself but I did for a couple of days. But my friends turned up trumps!

Firstly Helen came around and we had a socially distanced natter/cuppa whilst making 5" crochet squares for a community yarnbombing project for later in the year. We both had odds and sods of yarn to use up so it was a very satisfying couple of hours.

We even wove the threads in...what kind girls we are, lol!  Hopefully I'll share the project with you later in the year.

Then another friend Kim offered to make me some cards that I could use in my role as the local WI birthday card monitor - I can make cards but it takes me ages....
Bless her, Kim has made a goodly amount - when you have 40 members of the group, that's a lot of cards to buy and people really do love the handcrafted ones.

I provided the cardstock, toppers and embellishments (some of you may recognise things!) and Kim provided the glue and expertise. I am VERY grateful!! xx

And then another friend Mary invited me and G up for a coffee and natter. The subject got onto masks and I showed Mary the darted one featured last week - she had some fabric and commissioned me to make a couple:

So I got to it straight away as I'd done very little sewing this week....

Isn't it fun?! I can't stand Liqourice Allsorts normally but they do make for a great fabric design. And the finished masks still make me snigger cos they look like bras.....infantile, I know....

One of Mary's dogs is a whippet, she got bored with our conversation after a while:

That is the life eh? Absolute bliss!!

So I may have been in a grump but not anymore, thanks to friends, crochet, cards and dogs!

Have a good week everyone xxxxx

aw, it’s happening to us all over time isn’t it, losing the bounce a bit. It’s nice when it comes back though, and your friends are marvellous are they not. Wonderful selection of cards, they must have taken some time, and so good to know that you have a bit of a head start in terms of stock! I’m having a crazy week, but am home tomorrow, so you should prolly expect a call! Xxx

Sorry to hear you were feeling out of sorts last week, not like our Jan, whom we have all come to know and love, to feel like that.
Glad you have such good friends as you have who helped get you out of the doldrums AND make something good at the same time. Love that sunny yellow square.
Keep your chin up and when feeling down lie down like the dog in the photo and sleep it off.
Hugs, Neet 3 xx

Looks like you found the best way to bounce back Jan - a bit of crafting with friends works wonders. It is hard to keep cheerful all the time isn't it. We are very positive folk and it takes us down when we get a bit overwhelmed by stuff. I found a bit of light at the end of my tunnel!! xx Jo

I think it's something to do with us being like guinea pigs Jan....we are gregarious! We NEED company and I think that's been the biggest struggle over lockdown....but we will get there I'm sure. I love liquorice allsorts so send yours my way please [I know I shouldn't but a few do more good than harm if you know what I mean ;-) ]....and I really love that fabric.

Hiya Jan, glad you are feeling better this week! Thats what friends and hobbies are all about. Love the fabric, I must say I'm not a huge fan of Allsorts, but they can be very useful in cases of constipation, rofl! Fabulous amount of cards, they're lovely. Just looked at the masks from last week, lol. I too find the usual ones make it very hard for me to breathe properly, I'm swapping to a thinner face covering- the ones you can wear in lots of different ways normally.Lots of love & hugs to you all, hope you are all well and staying safe, Shaz #7 XxXxXxXx

Show me a cute dog and that's all I can see! Aaawww! Isn't she adorable? I wonder how Oreo would react if we got one of those? Funny, my boss just mentioned in our online team meeting that she has a mask with Liqourice Allsorts on it - I wonder if she knows your Mary LOL - that would be a small world - and she has ties to Wales as well! Your friend Kim obviously knows her craft - that's a whole lotta birthday cards - I love the ones with the cups best! Thanks for your visit Jan - I can't even imagine you sulking, but of course you're entitled to a few days off once in a while! Good of your friends to cheer you up. Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #23

Hello, my friend! I am glad to hear that your spirits are lifted. There is no way to go through this experience always happy. There will be dark days and then there will be light ones. My favorite saying is "This too shall pass". Friends, family, nature, and pets are great pickups. I wish we already had a dog. I want to get one but used to put it off because I hate to have to board it when we travel. Oh yeah and I would hate walking it in winter storms. But a dog would be fun. Now you have to make appointments at shelters to select pets. I don't know. Maybe one day I will get the ball rolling. I love the cards your friend made. I like seeing them all laid out like that. They are lovely. I think the new masks are going to be so cute. I like the idea of the extra space. I bought pretty masks on Etsy but they are flat and when I inhale, so do they!!! Next time I will look for the kind you make. They do look like bras though!! Stay well, my friend.

Hi, Jan!
Lucky to have friends to pull you out!!

I'm sure we all get that way, now and then. Easy to do, in the dark cold, gray winter, this blistering hot summer, isolation. . . .

I haven't really anything to post this week. Made two more Christmas cards. Sometimes the recommended themes are just a pain!

Stay safe and healthy.

Happy Wednesday!

Kathryn

Hi Jan, hope your bungee's bouncing good and proper again - what would we do without friends eh? and crafting?! Love all those bright crochet squares and wish I could go yarn bombing with you, WOW! look at all those cards and LOVE that allsorts fabric - though like you I can't stand to eat them but they do make a lovely design, I used to make allsorts necklaces out of Fimo years ago. Any time you're in the NOrwich area and want to come and rummage in my crafty drawers Jan you'll be very welcome :)

Yay for friends, Jan, turning up just at the right time to cheer you up! I love that licorice allsorts fabric - really fun. Thank you for visiting and I'm glad you like my tiny carpets. Friends are so important when we are feeling blue aren't they. I'm so glad that yours came up trumps when you needed them. I love all the cards and the crochet squares. I sat out in the garden with 6 girl friends in the freezing cold last night, drinking tea and laughing and chatting - real therapy. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#8)

Some lovely craft work going on this week at yours.

Smart cards! Mary's done a proper job for you.

I love seeing all the different masks folks are making. The darted masks sound much simpler than the ones I've been making. And I tell you, Mrs Sewing Machine was not wanting to play ball on Saturday - I swear I spent more time unpicking and rethreading that I actually did with the sewing!

My goodness you certainly have been busy with friends and production. Loads of crochet and cards, all super. Not tried a 5 dart mask (first I have heard of them actually) I like the fitted seam down the front version and fit to face with additional darts. Had to make one bigger than the male size for hubby, I do a bit then fit and it takes a while but he's happy with his now.
Thanks for the visit BJ#11

Sometimes, if it's too much for the soul, it talks to the body: I need a break! It's normaly not your kind of beeing "JAN", so take the time you need to be happy again.
Thanks your friends - who cheers you up!
And it's your right to have other days too.
In our life there isn't always sunshine.
Send you a big hug and a smile.
