WOYWW 576

THERE'S A WHOLE LOTTA MESSIN' GOING ON.....

Life in lockdown continues here in Wales and I've been kept quite busy pottering in the house and garden. We're still not allowed anywhere further than 5 miles so apart from walks, we're keeping ourselves to ourselves.
I have spent a lovely few hours in the JanCave too on a variety of projects...
I'd been in contact with Lizzy's Barn, a local dog rescue place asking if they wanted the leftover duvet covers from the Scrubs Bags assembly line (they did) and I thought I'd make some doggy related items for them to use or sell...

They were pleased with it all and I hope it helps them as they're only a small concern but do a great job.

And then I thought I would do a Giveaway this week having not done one for quite a while. The Oriental fabric is still calling to me, so that's what got chopped up:

Yup, another jewellery wallet! I'm particularly pleased with the colour combo and those plastic poppers are perfect (oooh, someone asked me on the blog where I got them from, sorry, can't remember who, it was Amazon, they've got loads on there)

So there it is - if you fancy it, just let me know in your comments. I don't mind posting abroad but it may take a while with the postal service being slightly topsy turvy at the moment.

I altered a new top that arrived this week, loved the fabric but it didn't fit right, so I lifted the shoulders, took in the side seams and sleeves and put darts in. I shouldn't look at the seams too closely but it looks a lot better. I thought I'd challenge myself so sent for two patterns....I'm going to have a go at the man's shirt using one of the duvet covers I'd hung onto, G won't be wearing it, it's just a way of making my mistakes on a fabric that doesn't matter. I'm scared.......

We've been trying to walk as much as possible and our local country park and big beach was reopened last Friday - so Saturday morning found us social distancing on the sand, it was a glorious couple of hours:

It did the whole family a world of good - room to breathe.

Anyway, I hope you're all safe and well. Don't forget, if you want to enter the giveaway, mention it in the comments and I'll let everyone know next Wednesday.

Love the doggie glasses cases. Do you ever buy fabrics online and if so where as you have such beautiful ones. Impossible to buy round here. That dress pattern is great just right for the hot weather.
I love your jewellery wallet pity I haven't jewellery for it but could always find a use for it!!
The beach looks lovely wish we had golden sand like that. Have a good week. Ani #1

Morning Jan. Someone else with beautiful clouds on their post today! Haven't the skies been amazing recently? You have certainly been busy this week - well done on all the doggy bits! Yay!! Go for it with that shirt! It was one of my life's unfulfilled ambitions to make a man's shirt for John - never got around to it unfortunately - so have parked the ambition somewhere and forgotten about it!
I confess I would love to be added to the draw for the jewellery case. I would dearly love to own something so lovely made in the Jan cave. Thanks for entering me.
Take care all of you - now with more space to wander in. Stay safe. God bless.

Hi Jan, Looking forward to seeing the shirt and the dress/dresses.

The jewellery case is lovely.

Glad you've been enjoying the outside.

Taske care. Sue

That is so generous of you Jan. I love the jewellery roll, but as I already have one I won't enter the draw but leave it for another very lucky possible recipient. I wish we had such a beautiful beach on our doorstep, I might be exercising a bit more. I bet G does end up wearing that shirt lol. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #8.

Morning, what a lovely giveaway, someone will enjoy using it, but don't include me in the choice for giveaway, beautiful as the fabric is, because I already have a lovely jewellery roll, given to me by a niece, and it would be better for someone who doesn't already have one to get it.
I have that dress pattern, not yet decided what to do it with, or whether to do it at all.
Have fun, thanks for sharing

Wow Jan the beach looks stunning and so few people on it too - idyllic - our local beaches have been crammed with people so we've been sticking to the Forest. Good luck with the shirt - I think you are brave tackling it but I also think if anyone can do it you can!
The jewellery roll is fabulous but as I have one already that was given to me by my sister I won't enter the draw, but some very lucky person is going to be thrilled with it I'm sure. I love your doggy fabric too, especially the white one with spaniels on it - just adorable, and what a great idea (and cause) to help the Rescue.
Hope you have a great week, stay safe,
Hugs, Diana xx #11

Well I think I need to go to specsavers. I was looking at your photo thinking where on earth did she find fabric with face masks on, that's so niche, when I realised they were in fact dogs with blankets on. My bad. Love all the goodies you've made, I'm sure the charity will be grateful, as you say it all helps. Love the look of that beach, if that was round the corner I might be a bit better at getting my steps in... Happy WOYWW, stay safe, stay well, hugs Cindyxx #11

What lovely fabrics you've been sewing with this week Jan. I love the jewellery bag...my fav colours and, like you, I really love my poppers [but please don't put me in the draw...let someone who doesn't sew win it]. Your beach is stunning...so much fresh sea air...you are lucky to have it close by.
Stay safe and well.

Wow! Love your jewellery roll, but I don't have any jewellery so I shan't be vying for it. I've taken note of the pattern for the dress - looks right up my street. We are so fortunate to be by the sea, aren't we?

Glorious to see that Kevin is open again, there’s nowhere like it is there, and I’m really jealous. Oh the space. Big skies and sand...bliss!
So glad that the shoulder lifting has given you courage mon brave, I think trying out on a duvet cover is a good idea...I think the placket and shirt collar is a scared first, you can do it of course, but I’d tackle the dress first - nice pattern! Don’t be put off though, you so can do any of it - you just might need to refer to the instructions a bit. Sorry!!

What a fantastic place you are living at. WOW! To be envy isn't a good thing but I am ..hehe.. in a good way. Your photos are wonderful!! - I think the doggie ones you made looks so great! Wow! They must be very happy to receive those. Great work on all you have done.

Thank you so much for sharing!

Love the beautiful dress pattern, is it shearing elastic under the bust?
Love that doggy material, PJ's new sister is mad over those dogs. She's over in Whitland. Would love one of the masks if you have any left, if not can you send me the address of the animal centre and I will buy one from them.
Thank you for the photos of the sea, love them. The only expanse of water I have seen lately is the flooded road outside after the storm last night!!!
Take care, hug to G

Oh Lunch Lady Jan... dopey Dora here!
Truly dumb. Just spent half an hour using Julia's last week WOYWW links! 😁
Ah well. Yes cute doggy masks on first pickie, great gifts.
As I adore the fabric, mauve and Washi paper pattern.. I'd love to say yes, but have a lovely sewn one in Liberty print from family who lived in London in 1980s. Lovely and very kind idea! ❤
Our skies have bern stunning too. So peaceful and comforting ... agree totally re make up new pattern in scrap fabric to check it out. My habit too... never trust myself with sewing. Am sure they'll both be wonderful!
Happy WOYWW 😊
Thanks for sharing, and may God bless and keep you and all whom you love safe and well.

I wish I was on that beach right now. Sigh. The jewellery wallet is lovely. Love the fabric. That's also a great idea to make something for your local dog shelter to sell. Interestingly enough our local one had a run on people fostering pets while they were required to stay at home. Many of those fostered now have permanent homes :)

I LOVE those doggie items you made! I hope they help them to raise lots of money. Every charity is struggling more than ever now isn't it? I have an idea for you for any Christmassy fabric particularly so I shall message you ;-) That beach looks glorious - I so wish we were there but I shall have to be patient. Rather selfishly, the lack of movement with the sale of the Welsh house means we can visit a bit more before we have to say goodbye for good and then I will be inconsolable! Have a great week my lovely xx

Loving the oriental fabric Jan especially the colour as it would match my hair perfectly, the giveaway looks fab but as I don't wear jewellery I guess I should pass. Still have my Union Jack bunting up :)))) All the best with the sewing, you'll have no problem with those patterns. Thanks for the visit BJ#7 and YES it had wiggly edges!!!

I love the makes this week Jan - your choice of fabric is fab! I would love a "j" roll - I know I could make one but yours looks so lovely so put me in the draw please! Well done on doing a bit of dress making. I always find patterns are a funny fit - maybe its just my funny shape but with a bit of tweaking here and there its worth having a go I think. Your seascape photos are stunning. We had a lovely walk around Attingham today. First time we have seen friends since before lockdown so it was so good. A one way system all round park and very well organised of course. Keep well and stay safe. xx Jo

Hiya Jan, love all the fabrics. And as soon as I saw the Jewellery purse, it reminded me I've still forgotten to photograph my papers, lol. Knew I would. I'm sure the doggy themed pieces will sell well for them. Nice that you've been able to get to the beach, lovely photos. Stay safe, Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #16 X

Oh my what a fabulous beach! It's WAY too hot to walk here.
Cute dog goodies. Bet they'll sell quickly!
Gorgeous jewelry wallet. Not entering your drawing but someone will be greatly blessed!
Hope your sewing goes well. I made a lot of my clothing in school and most of our son's when he was born to about 13, and some of my hubby's. Boy, that was a lifetime ago.
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week!

Hi, Jan!
Your water views are "to die for." So calming.

And the Asian fabric is sumptuous! (I'd love to be considered for a prize! :) )

It must be what I call the "quilter mentality". You are so prolific, turning out so many projects. And more than just one offs. I have a long time girlfriend (we're in our 60's) She's been a quilter since her teens. She has been a sport and come with me to stamp and papercraft stores and events over the years. She even purchased some stamps here and there. She is now finally hooked with my craft of choice but where I make onesie twosies (usually just one of a kinds) she'll make 4-12. She started a project for Christmas. She is making gift cards sets. 12 different flower designs for 12 sets. If my math serves me, that's 144, a gross of cards! She makes my head spin! Could never keep up.

Anyway, love your work!
Stay safe,

Happy Wednesday!

Hi Jan, you're certainly one of the most productive crafters on this blog hop. I feel exhausted looking at all that you make! It was me who asked about the poppers. I shall check out Amazon for something similar, for my grandsons quilts' secret pockets! Those are gorgeous colours on the jewellery roll - I would love to be entered in the draw. Who ever wins it will be most delighted, I'm sure. Great photos of the beach just to make us completely envious of where you live. We are probably about an hour's drive from the coast - but have not been since lockdown started. Gardening seems to be the big attraction for me at the moment. Thanks for stopping by my blog - I hope Mr M never feels the urge to slip into a pair of skinny jeans- he would do himself an injury trying to get out of them! I was overjoyed to see my girls, and grandchildren, they have grown so much in 3 months! Have a lovely week and stay safe and well, Heather xx #13

A year ago we were first introduced to that beautiful beach and stayed in the Country Park-such lovely memories of that holiday in your beautiful South Wales. The jewellery roll is gorgeous and I loved all those fabrics you bought. Your makes fir the doggy charity are just perfect and it was kind of you to make them-they will be great sellers. Happy sewing. Catriona

Where is the beach? Hubby is from Pembroke and is missing his beach walks this year. Looks heavenly. Have a great week xx soojay x

Very impressed with all your doggie makes - great to support that charity!
Love your jewellery case - but I live in Australia and the post is definitely variable at the moment. However the restrictions are lifting a little and we can enter the beaches here again - they were all closed until a couple of weeks ago. It is lovely to see those lovely photos though!

`Hi Jan sorry I am so late, had a bad day yesterday and today is not much better as yet. But did have two and a bit days of no pain before hence the crafting (big grin).
What a lovely idea to make things for the doggy shelter to sell. I send old towels to a friend for her local centre. Always glad of them for wet feet that come in fours!
As soon as I saw that fabric I did a "ooh" and now this week you are offering something made from it. I have to ask to go in the draw please. It would be handy for my jewellery to go back and forth with the caravan (whey hey it opens on the 4th July)- better than the poly bag they get thrown in. Just thinking of my lovely polymer pieces bought just before the lockdown that are not getting worn in particular.
Love the thoughts of you making a shirt but don't envy you one bit - collars and sleeves! Make the dress to begin with, I can already see you in it. Love the blue and green one.
Take care, enjoy that gorgeous beach.
Hugs, Neet 6 xx

I can imagine they were pleased at the dog rescue place with the items you made, it toally fits their business and looks awesome! I am a qualified seamstress myself but haven't made cloths 'from scratch' for ages... we had to draw our own patterns back then and I still have the folder with all the 'how to's'... I rather sew on paper though... I never was a neat sewer anyway (you would have got high ranks from my teacher, your sewing looks so neat!) Thanks for stopping by my blog last week, I'm rather late but took a break from creating to visit you back ;) Enjoy your weekend, hug from Holland, Marit #24

What beautiful photos this week, Jan - fabulous clouds and wide open spaces. Lovely sewing you've been doing, too! I adore your little jewellery pouch and would love to own it, but I think it would be best going to another good home because I've just got far too much stuff to go in it!! I am sure that whoever receives it will really appreciate it! I still have your gorgeous little pincushion on my desk. I haven't got around to visiting the Oriental fabrics website yet - I seem to have been very busy this week one way and another and wrestling with attempt #3 at getting the band right on the green cardigan!

Happy belated WOYWW,
