WOYWW 571

THANK YOU FOR THE DAYS.....

....and by that, I mean that I do appreciate each and every day even though they are all blurring into one another now. I'm very fortunate to be in the situation I'm in but feel for those who are worrying about jobs, money, children etc. Thank goodness Alan is slowly improving, I know Elizabeth will be happy when he's back home.

The desk is full of mask making stuff - I asked if any of the RNLI gang wanted some and they did. Most of the scrubs bag fabric was donated by them so it's just a little thank you from me.

I still love the duvet cover cut offs, it's done well. The seaside fabric is mine though and makes for a fun mask.

I've had loads of elastic given to me by my SiL Jill and my mate Helen - it's much appreciated and worth more than gold at the moment!

And a friend asked if I could make a headband with buttons on to save her ears when wearing a mask. I printed one out but it was at the wrong scale so I had to do hard sums and work out the ratio in order to upscale it. It seemed to work ok but my brain hurt afterwards, lol!

And I know Shaz is the Queen of And Finally, but this one really made me laugh because I'm sick of seeing lithe beauties show off how flexible they are on FB.

Ain't that the truth!!

Keep well, stay safe and see you for the special Anniversary WOYWW 11 next week. I have no idea what I'm going to share yet.....hopefully inspiration will strike soon.

xxxxxx

That sure is the truth - I do the balancing act each and every morning.
Mask making this afternoon, thanks for the link. Not sure on my elastic supply but I have some, maybe not the right width but who cares, I don't intend being out that much or for any length of time. Did think of the elastics for my (new) pony tail. Not sure if they would hold but could try them.
What a lovely idea to make masks for the ladies who donated fabric for all the wonderful work you have been doing - you 've been like a little sewing factory on your own. Well done Jan!
Hugs, Neet 3 xx

Aw good for you, the mask making is a great way to pay back for the fabrics! I can’t see why the button thingy instead of elastic is shaped like that.....show and explain will ya? Also super impressed at you doing hard sums, been a while since I’ve tried that. Although I’m just back from meeting a Big Bill if that counts!! As for the fat chicken .....oh yeah!

I am in full blown admiration of how many wonderful scrubs and masks you have created for others. My helping out generally does not involve a sewing machine thank goodness. Your final pic had me in stitches and almost spat out my cup of tea. Not a good look but I sooooo relate. Stay safe and keep stitching.

I'm with the chicken!!
I have made masks for PJ and me as we are venturing out to get some chicken feed etc. We have to travel out into the countryside to our supplier's place, it's not usually very crowded but I am taking the masks just in case. I am sooooo looking forward to seeing something other than houses!
I love your photos of when you go walking, especially of the sea.
Carry on the good work.
Have a good week and stay safe

Hello Jan, certainly with you over the feeling grateful, even living here in NW London we are in a fairly nice locale with everything we need and, being retired that ain't a lot these days! Yes it is good to have my daughter cooking but her dad and brother are struggling a bit (but far too polite to say anything). She is a tad adventurous and likes a bit of spice where as my boys are both are pretty plain feeders!! I'll eat anything I don't have to cook myself!! Trouble is she bakes as well, I can feel the waistline expanding as I type..... Good on you for sorting out those headband dimensions, that is how my head feels with anything to with needlecraft I'm afraid. I'm gonna see that chicken when I'm struggling every morning now! Lots of love n hugs, Cindy #24

Oh I do love your lovely fabrics. Hubby is going to have to just have green for his mask which I have just cut out, the shaped ones seem to fit me better and now he wants one, typical. Thanks for the visit BJ#7

OH, that 'finally' made me laugh... ain't that a thing when you get older! I, too, had to size a pattern to make it fit, and I'm not much of a calculator either - it's quite an accomplishment when you manage to get it right isn't it?! Take care lovely one, big hug from Holland. Marit #20

Good news re Elizabeth and Alan too l.. praying every day.. and for all over there, we are very blessed here! No deaths in our whole north coast area which is truly miraculous. Cities were main victims esp Sydney and Melbourne.
Loved your garden pickies below and your walks sound great I didn’t get to see folks last week as didn’t WOYWW. Too busy here too.
Will wait to see UFOs too .. and pretty fabrics do bring a smile!

Hiya Jan, the funny really made me laugh- mainly for how true it is! That seaside material is fab- just what someone will need to help brighten their day up. Well done on the maths, it would have left my brain hurting too. Tech seems to be failing left, right & centre. I was actually a bit concerned getting a new monitor would take longer than it did, due to everyone buying stuff online to work from home. Stay safe, lots of love & hugs to you all, Shaz #10 XxXxXx

Hi Jan, I love the fabrics, especially the stripey. You're doing a fab job with the masks. I've given myself a couple of days off sewing the scrubs bags as demand has dropped for them now - I think our group has saturated Hampshire with them! I'm going to have a go at masks next but don't know I'd but up for hard sums - you lost me at the word ratio!!
Laughed so much at the chicken - how true!
Hope you have a great week,
Hugs, Diana xx #21

You always beat me to comment. Today I said I am going to pop on by before you and then I got side-tracked with my son and something for school. So once again you beat me!
Look at you making masks. I have a few friends that have been making and donating masks. I am so envious because I don't know how to sew. You are wonderful for making them and donating to the nurses. Elastic is definitely gold. It is scarce like toilet paper was a few weeks ago.
Oh my goodness that photo with the quote has me laughing because I agree. I held my sink this moment putting on mine!! Stay well my friend and thanks for stopping by.

Laughed at what you said about calculations when I was making my daughters birthday card I had measurements for a samll one but wanted to add more pages, it nearly killed my brain. Like you say something I would have been able to do just like that years ago.
Bet you will be glad to get to your everyday sewing after all this passes. Keep safe and have a good week. Ani #12

Thanks for your visit, Jan, and for your kind words! I love recycling things. It's amazing what a bit of gesso will do to improve things, too. So glad you like the teddies project - it's turning out to be a really fun project. I am trying to do colouring downstairs and have to keep putting it away when my hubby comes in! Fortunately he's not the most observant person on earth... I've taken the knitting off the blocking mat and I'm extremely pleased with the result. This circles jumper is definitely a UFO in need of being finished asap!! (Not that I'll manage to finish it in a week.)

HI Jan, oh there is a pattern to crochet those ear saver thingys for the loops of masks where you put buttons on the ends. I will hunt down the pattern someone shared with me. ( I don't crochet anymore but, I think a lot of people who peek at the WOYWW desks do) (and it may be easier than sewing fabric ones?)haha I loved the joke. ~Stacy #30

Hi Jan! I'm trying to make a mask for my very picky hubby. He seems to have very fold-able ears, so elastics pop off. I then converted it into a mask with ties, well, he says the ties are too short. I will try again, I wonder what will be wrong next time? Oh well, I suppose once I get it right it will be easier. He is so much different than me, who would have gratefully taken the first mask without complaint, and then figured out on my own how to get it to work. Oh well! I wonder if your idea of the button extension would work? I will look into that! Can't wait to see what you come up with next week! Have a wonderful week, stay safe, Lindart #31
