WOYWW 572 - HAPPY 11TH BLOGGYVERSARY!!

FOR ALL MY FRIENDS......

I didn't have a UFO so I made this instead - make sure you have the volume turned up and click on the photo below.

It's not what you make that's important, it's the crafters you meet along the way.....

I hope it's not too long before we can see each other at the next Crop. Thank you for the friendship and support over the past 11 years and lots of gratitude to Julia for keeping us all on the straight and narrow! Lots of love to all the overseas friends as well, you are very important to me, I just didn't have any pics of you, sorry xx

Huge thanks for my wonderful tech supervisor G, without whom the video wouldn't have happened!!

Enjoy the celebrations today, I'm looking forward to seeing all those Finished Projects, lol!

Morning, that is a finished project. A project reminding us why we keep coming back week after week to celebrate a crafty community that Julia initiated, but I suspect you were significant at the beginning as well.
So happy anniversary and thanks for your encouragement over the years

That is just awesome Jan - made me a little teary eyed! Had really hoped to make the crop this year - had persuaded OH to come and we were planning a little trip - I've only been a few times but remember the days with great fondness. I had a feeling you might have photos (little did I know!) and - I did check your blog a bit but couldn't grab very good quality. Any chance you could send me jpegs? Thank you so much for your friendship over the years - feels very real to me. Happy WOYWW Anniversary, stay safe, stay well, Cindy #26

Thanks for all your kind words and wishing you a very happy woyww 11th Anniversary. Big hugs, Angela x17x

Hi Jan, loved the video. It brought so many lovely memories of Crops past and the wonderful people we've met through WOYWW, all thanks to Julia's brilliant brainchild. Hopefully, Alan will see it in hospital on his phone - I know he enjoys the crops every bit as much as I do. Take care, stay safe, and hugs to you and G. Elizabeth x #36

Good evening, Jan!
I must say again, I love your video! Makes me smile and makes me feel "included."
Thank you!

The world would stop on its axis if I didn't have any UFO's. The only way this will happen is if I give everything away! But that won't happen either because I tend to be a packrat too! Such a combination!

Happy Wednesday! Stay safe!

Thank you for visiting, Jan, and I'm really glad you liked my various UFOs! I have always loved anything ethnic and many years ago my hubby and I went to an exhibition of Palestinian embroidery at the Museum of Mankind in London and I bought a huge coffee-table style book just stuffed with designs. I bought some embroidered pieces when we visited Israel too. I love the shapes of the Hebrew letters which lend themselves very well to calligraphy, as well as each one having deep mystical significance. I studied Biblical Hebrew with a group for 5 years when we lived in Plymouth in the 90s and thought what fun it would be to make a sampler, like the old alphabet samplers the Victorians used to make. The borders on my sampler are from a Russian design book I have (they have beautiful designs and colours) and there are also some details in the Dutch sampler tradition, so lots of influences there!! I also have examples of Romanian embroideries and textiles as my hubby used to visit almost every year, and I have design books too. Now I've lost weight, I can wear my Romanian embroidered blouses again too! Getting my UFOs out to photograph them has inspired me to start working on them again so I hope I don't go off the boil again!

OMG I LOVE IT! How clever you are, and probably way more patient than any UFO I’ve had to do!! How fab! Such a variety of people and things being done, and some fun had! Lovely to see Erika with Shaz, and Christine with ‘normal’ coloured hair!!! That was a great trip down memory lane for me, I shall be watching a lot of that. Loads of pics that I’d like to lift....will try to be more specific at some point. Bit lost for words at the mo!
