SILENCE IS GOLDEN....

I don't live in a particularly busy place but the lack of noise has been amazing - you can hear so much more birdsong without the drone of traffic! The fantastic weather has meant that I've enjoyed some slow time in the garden just watching the butterflies and bees, it's good for the soul to stop and stare.

Anyway, tis a quick one this week. I have been very busy sewing more scrubs bags after having a request from someone who works for the Welsh Ambulance service.
An appeal for more duvet covers to my friends resulted in a good haul and there's loads more that arrived yesterday.

The reels of cotton twill tape have come in so handy for the drawstrings!

And the mask making has begun, again for friends. Thanks Annie for the pattern, it's been invaluable xx

I look like a police mug shot!!!

And the grand total up til yesterday was 60 bags. I couldn't have done it without my wonderful menfolk, who have ironed, pinked, threaded and parcelled up. They are stars!

Thanks lads! It's Rhys' 24th birthday today so I may not get round to commenting much or will be later at least. I managed to score some flour and sugar yesterday so at least I can make him a cake!!

Have a good week everyone xxxxx  and stay safe xxxx

Happy birthday to your lovely lad - I hope he has a great day. Gold stars to your menfolk too for getting involved in the making of the bags. I'm finding it hard going, each ones takes so long, although I'm trying to do them in batches - I'm impressed with your tally.
Hope you have a lovely week and stay safe and well,
Hugs, Diana xx #12

How can he be 24!! Good grief. many many happy returns to Rhys. Wish I could be there to hurt him, embarrass him and eat cake! Wonderful effort with the bags, they are such a Straightforward good idea that you wonder why they actually haven’t been doing things this way for ever! Brilliant numbers you’ve rolled out, and your production team look very friendly. Always good to work with people you get on with!! Doesn’t your JanCave look bright with the sun streaming through those pretty curtains. It’s a good mask pattern that gives good coverage I must say, brilliant you at turning these out too.

Happy Birthday Rhys, I hope he has a lovely day. You are a well oiled machine by the looks of it. I'm busy with the mask making for family and work colleagues. Scrub bags are also on the agenda. My SIL has been busy with those. It's nice to do your bit isn't it.
The peace and quiet is amazing. We don't live in a busy place either but are very close to an airport so the lack of planes is the biggest thing. It's wonderful to hear all the birds, I've noticed they talk to each other.
Have a good week and stay safe

Happy birthday, Rhys - wow! you can belong to no other than your mum and dad!! Loving the glorious hair colour - but then I am a teensy bit biased! Enjoy the cake after all that hard work!!!
Jan, I am exhausted just reading your post today. 60 bags??? Your house is a production line - who needs giant companies when you lot are around? Industry should be watching out. There are lots seeming to greatly appreciate the slower pace at the moment. Whilst I'm not keen on no hugs(!), long may the slower pace last!
Take care you beautiful bunch. Stay safe. God bless.

Aw what a family of heroes you are! My neighbour is also doing this so I managed to find some duvets for her. I doubt she has reached those kind of numbers though! Happy Birthday Rhys, I feel bad for everyone having a lockdown birthday - but I do think they will be memorable! One of the neighbours girls was 21 last Thursday, so after our NHS Clap the whole road sang Happy Birthday. I totally agree with you regarding just taking some be still time in the garden. I think its probably why I am getting nothing done!! Stay Safe, Stay well, Happy WOYWW Cindy #18

Happy birthday Rhys and I am sure there won't be too many 24 year olds who can say I spent my birthday pinking, threading and ironing. Well done. Love the mug shot and well done for persevering with making masks. I rarely follow through with an idea unless it involves a paint brush. stay safe and enjoy your birthday celebrations.

Happy WOYWW to you and Happy Birthday to Rhys. Enjoy the cake. Our local shop has plenty of flour, eggs etc, so my pantry is full with all the baking ingredients. However, I rarely find the time or energy to actually do any baking! I have got 2 very ripe bananas in the fruit bowl today that need to be used, so will make a small batch of the energy bars I enjoy (very simple - mainly just oats and bananas). Well done for producing all of the bags and masks. I keep saying to Rich that I wish I still had my sewing machine (and fabric stash), and then I would get creating. The Paddington fabric is fab! It isn't any quieter here, except for very few planes going over. All of the farms in the area are busy with tractor work, so lots of machines going up and down the roads and in the fields. We have lots of very noisy crows in the trees next to the farmhouse, and they make a lot of mess everywhere. Carry on enjoying this sunshine. Ali x #1

Happy birthday to Rhys! He obviously wasn't swapped in the hospital LOL! He looks just like you! How good of them to help out. Well done on all those scrub bags and masks. I need to learn how to make masks too - at least they're washable - I hate the idea of the disposable ones. Enjoy your garden - lovely weather we've been having! xx zsuzsa #20

Hi Jan, Thanks for helping our the NHS staff. Thanks to your menfolk as well and happy birthday to Rhys.

Saw a way to make a mask with no sewing, so I have saved that YouTube video (https://youtu.be/r51YroAFPds).

Thought you might find this funny:

Glad you got some flour my lovely. Gosh doesn't Rhys look like you - "spitten' image"! Happy Birthday to him from me.
You are a love doing all of this sewing, I don't even know how to make a pump bag as I call them. it is the drawstring bit I would have problems with but then I don't have the cotton either but I am hoping to make some masks for us to wear when I have to go to the hospital next month. Nobody else will see them, from the inside.
Scared stiff of going I am so I think I might have three layers of cotton on mine. I saw a link to a pattern somewhere so I am sure I can fiddle how to do one of those, I am not that hopeless, really. I made Andrew a christening dress and used to make clothes for myself. he has never forgiven me for a pair of trousers I made him once. Tells me I left a pin in and wouldn't believe him. I cannot remember the incident but I can believe it, its a thing I do at times, leave pins in.
Right, must go, thanks for keep joining in with the #Cheers, it is appreciated.
Stay well and stay safe all of you

Happy birthday, Rhys!! Hope you have a wonderful celebration!
Great job on the scrub bags and masks! I see Betty is not dressed quite so fancy today. And with the masks, this is probably the only time one can enter a bank with a mask on! Well, that thought just came to me. Anyway, have a great party and wonderful week!

You are so amazing to make themselves bags, such a worthwhile thing to do. I am sure the cotton masks are more comfortable than the plastic ones. We managed to get some flour the other day and I ordered some from Holland and Barret, but that takes up to 15 days to arrive. Happy birthday to Rhys, I am sure your cake will be delicious x Angela #38

Hi Jan, I just love that your guys are helping and how happy they look too :) Happy Birthday to your son and YAY for home baked cake. it also really caught my attention how happy the colors are in your studio from the curtains to the ironing cover and I thought to my self, I want to clear everything out of my space and declutter a great deal more now. ( the charity places that accept donations are all closed here though so, I have not started making any piles as it would annoy me to look at them and have no way to continue) ~Stacy #33
