ALL KINDS OF EVERYTHING REMIND ME OF YOU...

A lot went on in the JanCave last week - feeling a bit rough meant I didn't go out and, after a couple of days not doing much, got a bit bored and got a proper crack on with some stuff for the Christmas fairs that are fast approaching. So there's a few things to share with you this morning!

I'm making a few little stocking ornaments and will get some candy canes to put in - that bead box you gave me is still earning its keep Shaz!

These were quick to run up on the machine, using scraps of ribbon and lace. I glued the buttons on though as getting the needle through at this point was impossible! The poppy is there cos I took this pic to send to another WI friend as a reference for something.

The long view!  I've tidied up the ribbons since then - can't bear wasting time searching for stuff....

And today I've started making the fairy wands. As me and the hot glue gun are sworn enemies, I find that doing things in stages is the best way forward! So I've gathered the little bundles of ribbon and held them with a Clover clip, then I wound ribbon around the wands and glued them - lastly, I'll insert them between two glittery felt stars and glue those too. Then I'll spend a happy half hour trying to unglue fingers, eyelashes, clothes, etc etc.....sigh. It'll be worth it though, they do turn out quite nicely.

I always have a stash of the sunglasses cases to hand...

..and have been playing Jenga with the tissue holders!  I'm actually getting quite low on fabric at the moment as I've used so much up this past year and generally haven't bought that much.

When we were staying with Julia last week, G and I went down to Salisbury to revisit old haunts. I went into B&R Textiles, one of my favourite shops which was hard hit when Salisbury was shut during the Novichok poisoning - the poor folk had to close their shop for months and trade was limited to their online presence. So it was good to go in and support them by buying some fabric.

I bought a metre each of the three on the left and the lady gave me the samples on the right when she found out I was making stuff for the RNLI. I've already cut into my three, they're lovely quality and I hope will sell well at the fairs.

That's it for now, me and the b"£$&* glue gun are going to get reacquainted again....sigh....can't type any mor..al..st8ck toge^&$r....

Love the new fabrics - especially the William Morris type one - how generous of the lady to give you some pieces for the RNLI. I found a lovely little shop at weekend That had some RNLI stuff in - so had a buy.
Good luck with the sewing and things - have a great week.

Morning Jan. Your posts are always so full of humour - as well as hard work!!! You have a good pile of things getting ready for the craft fairs... Hope you and the heat gun have become more friends than enemies by now - or are you silenced because you ate something with sticky fingers???:-( That fabric is gorgeous. Well found.
Take care with that glue gun dear girl. Is G on hand to help out??? God bless.

Such lovely makes - festive and non festive alike. Love how the glasses cases are organised in that shoe box - I bet it is so satisfying looking at them all together knowing that you made them! Those fabrics are to die for - for someone, who doesn't/can't sew, I have an irresistible fetish about fabrics! Thanks for stopping by earlier! Have a lovely week, Jan! xx zsuzsa #15

Hello my dear! Now that is a very busy desk! I've been poorly this week too but I have actually got quite a lot done - been keeping it simple and just do one thing at a time. Surprisingly productive! Ribbon storage is the bane of my life. Gets in a mess so quickly. Can't say I've developed a foolproof system yet - other than tidy it all up and never touch it again! Happy WOYWW Cindy #19

Gosh, such a lot of hard work, and all so beautifully made! I'm sure with all that careful forethought and preparation the dreaded glue gun will have no choice but to knuckle down and behave itself. Hope the fairs go well!

Hi Jan, sorry you haven't been feeling too good but there's a lot to show for your time confined to quarters. Love the wee stockings and the crochet flower is gorgeous too. Great stock of goodies to sell. Commiserations for your dwindling fabric stash ... just as well you managed a trip to Salisbury and the fabric shop. I'm sure your support is much appreciated too. Good luck with the ****** glue gun. Hugs, Elizabeth x #20

Theres no snot like glue gun snot! As always, admiring of your works missus, the wands will be fab. VERY VERY satisfied by that neat shoe box filled with glasses cases; very satisfying! I didnt realise from the first shot how small and fiddly those little stockings are...or how big the poppy..you decide!

You've done so well Jan considering you have been under the weather, hope you are on the mend now and if so it doesn't come back to revisit as it tends to do :( Love those little stockings I've made quite a few of those in my time, always look lovely on the tree or as parcel tags.
Those glue guns can be lethal.. hope you have managed to tame it now.
Sending warm hugs Tracey & Happy WoywW Tracey #11

Sorry you haven't felt A1, but you've been busier than me. Remembered after seeing your felt decorations I have some cut out from last year. Another idea I had was a material case for a fan, we use fans alot here in summer and they can get broken so easily in your handbags. Keep up the good work. Ani #1

Jan, I really look forward to seeing your desk. I love seeing all the goodies you are working on. Those ornaments are so cute. My boys eat all the candy canes when I put them on the tree so I usually have to bribe them with some or put them up late! I like seeing all of the supplies organized. I like your tissue holders. I am awful at Jenga! But I have some Jenga piles in my craft room too!! Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for the visit my friend.
