YOU GOTTA HAVE FRIENDS....

Another week has whooshed by with so many different things going on - but the weather here in Wales has been foul for a lot of that so my downtime has mostly been spent in the JanCave. I'm trying to get as many things made and put by for the various things I'm doing.

*WARNING* this is a photo heavy post (sorry Julia!)

I've been having fun with some fabrics that were gifted to me recently - Debbie Rock passed on about 4m worth of the paw print fabric out of which I've made shopping totes, specs cases and little coin purses. It was great getting those coloured pop fastenings out again, I love them, they're so bright and cheerful.

Now doesn't that pic just make you smile?

A dear friend from Wiltshire, Helen, sent me a surprise parcel of fabric out of the blue - they are brilliant and I've dived in already:

Those bright colours are FQs that I got from Hobbycraft a couple of weeks ago and they are perfect as linings for the various projects! The colours couldn't match better if they tried.

See? What a great combo!

We got some new bedside cabinets recently and I didn't want to throw the old rattan ones away so they're being recycled in the JanCave as fabric storage - and jolly handy they are too!

Now then you may remember that I was hosting the WI Craft club here last week - everybody was surprisingly well behaved (!) but it made me smile as, true to form, just like the Crop attenders, there was more chatting and eating of cake than crafting, lol!!

Everyone's very studious here - it's only cos I was taking their photo! Some were in the kitchen and others were in the dining room:

Well done Jean and Kathleen, you did crack on.

I'd set up all my fabrics, beads, buttons and ribbons on the worktop so people could pick what they wanted...

There were various templates to choose from, most went for Christmas trees.

And everyone managed to thread the needles ok (with the help of reading glasses, lol)

Some chose traditional colours...

I do love a bit of tartan ribbon....

While others went down the Boho route...

Rightly pleased with their efforts!

Well done girls! It was great fun and a good morning. The December one is going to be Tags and Toppers, led by Janet who is a far more experienced paper crafter than me!

But the girls weren't the only ones creating - you remember G in the garage last week? Well, this is the result:

A two tier set of shelves made from decking cutoffs and other bits of wood, painted with left over white emulsion and cream and grey chalk paint testers. I like it so much I'm going to use it as part of my Christmas decorations later. And G made the marmalade too - he's a keeper :-D

Have a great crafty week - see you soon! xxx

Happy WOYWW. Your bright fabric colours and fabulous colour poppers definitely made me smile. The craft workshop looked fun, and the results are fantastic. G is very clever - shelves and marmalade! Unfortunately, Rich has definitely got the cycling bug, from which no man ever recovers, so his every spare moment is spent on a bike/planning the next route/purchase! I keep reminding him of jobs that need doing around the house/garden, which I cannot tackle, like cleaning out the gutters - but another day passes and still my list is not done. Oh well, I will have to earn enough money to afford to pay for a 'man' to come in and do all the little jobs. Ali x #12 (ps I haven't forgotten meeting up with you. Will consult my planner later and hopefully find a few possible dates.)

I'm sorry to say it's a copied and pasted comment today to let you know I've visited you and read your blog. My ipad isn't playing nicely and wont let me comment on many of the blogs and I am unable to sit for long sessions at the lap top with my painful hip.
Thanks for making me smile.

Your photo heavy is busting with color and fun. Loving all the little trees they created. Great fun to have these gatherings. Your DH and mine, pretty much the same. Mine enjoys the kitchen and I enjoy letting him alone in there as he's great at creating goodies of any type. Love the layered shelves, you'll enjoy them. Have another fun week doing what you love. I need to catch a few more hours of sleep.

Hi Jan, It is so nice to craft with others and what a good job they did.

Hubbys two tier shelf is just the ticket to display your items.

Your fabrics are scrummy.

Looks like your crafty get together was very much enjoyed- we crafters know how to do chat & cake, don't we? lol. G did a great job of course, and I know how fab his marmalade tastes! Ooooh, those lovely fabric colours and indeed, the dotted fabric is the perfect match... the photos indeed made me smile, and so did the photos of your workshop... lovely little trees! It certainly looks as though everyone had a great time at your WI get together. Lots of lovely colourful results too. Thank you for your visit today and your lovely comments. Parchment is not for everyone but most people who try Groovi are totally hooked and addicted within seconds of trying. It is incredibly relaxing and there are lots of trouble children who have their own kit in school for the times when they find their self control slipping. They go off into a corner and do some parchment work until they feel the pressure has relaxed. Have a great week. xxx Maggie #8

Hi Jan, oh, I love your sewing room and those fabrics had me salivating (disgusting image), especially the sausage dog one. Great to see the finished shelving unit - brilliant and so practical. G is definitely a keeper! Love the photos of your WI ladies ... they're more productive than us crop ladies judging by results. I'm coorieing doon in my craftroom today for sure. By the way, the book is cheaper by a fair few pounds on Amazon. Hope you have better weather this week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #23

Hi Jan! You continue to WOW me with your beautiful creations! You always make me itch to get to my sewing machine, but the closest I've come so far is pinning ideas to Pinterest! I love the camper van fabric - that would be perfect for my DD! Your WI Craft Club looks like so much fun! Have a great week, Lindart #29

Love crafting with friends, Jan, and didn’t they do well. My keeper has just built a seven foot tall christmas tree from left over fencing for the older peoples assembly at the start of December. Your makes are fab as always.

Hi Jan, looks like a great crafty day with your WI buddies, and crafting was done too! Well done to all of you. I saw the Hobbycraft FQs and loved the bright fabrics, but went for pastel ones for the quilts. Maybe next time I'll choose the brights. G is definitely a keeper, I've shown Mr M the picture of the shelves, I won't hold my breath, but you never know! Thanks for stopping by earlier - up until last year I would have unpicked the quilt squares, and resewn them, but am far more relaxed now, so the quilt doesn't worry me that the seams don't line up. Have a lovely week Heather x #13

What a lovely happy post, Jan, and what a great time you had with all the ladies and their smashing efforts!! All those gorgeous bright fabrics and the co-ordinating linings too, and I love all the bright little snap fasteners. The paw print fabric is adorable, and I love the camper vans too. What fun. All a delight for the eyes. Your hubby’s little shelf and marmalade are a triumph. Mine’s a keeper too but no hand at DIY - or cooking for that matter haha!! His gifts lie elsewhere... Thank you for your visit and I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the CT scan pic - something a bit different for WOYWW lol! I am fascinated by all our modern technology and always love to see what’s going on and be fully informed about what they are doing to me. Because of it all, I’m still here to fight another day!!

Happy belated WOYWW,

Love G.s shelving Jan, very clever Vegemite, and well done to the girls for making some and talking!! Skilled indeedy! 😉
Love your stash matching so nicely, and those little tabs bring a smile because they’re so nicely colour shaded in right rainbow spot, if they weren’t they wouldn’t look anywhere near as nice.
Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz.x

Wait! You're supposed to craft at those gatherings? I thought it was all about the cake and visiting. ;-) Great looking trees. Love that each has its own personality. Great use of those end tables and repurposing the cut-offs. I'll make southern biscuits to go with that marmalade. Creative Blessings! Kelly #27
