THEY UNFOLDED YOUR LIVES ONE BY ONE,
THEY LAID OUT YOUR PATCHWORK UNDER THE SUN,
AND PEOPLE GATHERED FOR MILES AROUND
TO WITNESS YOUR QUILT SPREAD OUT ON THE GROUND.
Hello dear bloggy friends...I'm back after a week off...I was in Wales, you see, visiting my dad and hadn't done any crafting whatsoever.
However, that situation has been rectified and over the weekend I started on my third quilt for Jozart's LillyBo group. I'd started cutting out before my visit to The Land of my Fathers and had had a play with them seeing what order looked best...
Each square is 20cm and they took up quite a space on the floor! But after a bit of moving the odd square around, I settled on this configuration. Note I'm going for the easy option of large squares! I shall have to steel myself for anything smaller :)
This was the pile after the cutting out....tut tut......
Pinning on the border. I just had enough of the dark pink to make a sufficient length to go all the way around...talk about luck! By the way, I caught someone called Mandy Shaw on Create and Craft today..she's a patchwork expert and she only does bias binding on curved edges. She said that straight border pieces were fine. YAY!! And...she doesn't tack either...woohoo!
Anyway...the finished quilt:
There is a dark pink fleecy backing, but I forgot to take pics of that, doh....
I didn't have quite enough of the quilts fabrics to make a bag - they were all last pieces of those materials - so I dug out something else.
Similar-ish colours?? It has a lilac gingham lining, but I didn't take pics of that either! I'm rubbish this week, gotta get my act together for next time.....
We've had blue skies and sunshine for three days now..it doesn't half make me feel better! On a tramp around our village, I spotted these teasels. They were taller than me (5'7"!) and stood out really well against the azure sky...
Well, it pleased me anyway!!
Have a good week :)

That is a beautiful quilt you have done. Lucky with the edging. I would not even begin to attempt one! Nothing would line up when I am done and that just irritates me! Give me paper any day!
:O
WOW!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the projects :)
The colours are fantastic - so beautiful together and a bit reminiscent of Cath Kidston (but yours is much more stylish *lol*)
Have a wonderful WOYWW!

Oh, an "azure" sky, LLJ. What a delight that is whatever is lurking in the forefront! In this case your tassles, no, teasles are stunning!
Your baby quilt is very cheerful. Well done! Your twinkled eye is quite fetching o'er the top! And I think the bag works beautifully with the quilt!!
I missed you last week. Glad to hear you were just off visiting old Dad and not down with a nasty virus! Have a wonderful week! xxoo Darnell #39 (That's prolly changed tho.)

Isn't it funny how a blue sky makes us all feel better? :-) Gorgeous colours in your latest quilt Jan....I'm with you when it comes to large pieces....can't quite see the point of cutting it all up just to join it back together lol

I love the photo - and teasels are so structural. The quilt is beautiful. I really wish I could sew... Thanks for stopping by today and your comment - I regularly take photos outdoors (in the dry obviously) from the prone angle - love the bird's eye view! Helen, 5
awesome quilt! I did dig the sewing machine out but don't have space in the room of stash to put it anywhere...I can see work in my future. How's your Dad doing? Getting along well I hope. Love the picture of the teasels. Very nice!. Thanks for sharing and have a great week! Vickie #28
Bore da, Sut wyt ti heddiw? Lovely to have you back in WOYWWWorld!
Me, I'm doing the happy dance as the post van came ! Woo hoo! Thank you so much, the quilt has arrived this morning!! It is super, lovely fabrics and colours and it will make another little one very happy. Eddie from CHICS told me of the first little 8 year old girl who received her quilt the day before they removed her tumour and he told how thrilled she was. He said that she cuddled it so much and it really took her mind off all that was happening. He's off till next week caring for his wife, post op, so things will move again when I get back from Brighton.
Love the teasels pic!

Glad that you said that bout the edging strip and the bag as I won't have enough to make bag from same fabric. We have had some lovely days but today back to dark and cold. Anne x #99

Heh you were in Wales and you didn't call, tut tut?
Lovely patchwork cover Jan, it's something l've always been keen to make myself but never got round to it.
Happy WOYWW, have a good week xx
Love it. I have pulled out fabric and pushed it around to see if I could make a reasonable size quilt from the scraps of another project and I think I actually might just about have it. YOURS looks like it was actually designed :) Therein lies the difference between us, I fear. But hey, ho - it takes all types right? :D

Hi Jan, just back to answer your question - yes it is one of the Rainbow Fish. GD 2 has asked if I can copy it so she can colour it in but I am going to surprise her with a little canvas too, it won't be quite a sparkly though....... Hugs, Anne x
Stunning quilt. Now don't faint but I bought a sewing machine! Nothing too grand just a small starter one so that I can add stitch details to my crafty projects. Maybe stitch the odd trouser hem too, we'll see. But first I taught myself how to do the bobbin thing and then thread the whole machine up. I had a go on some scraps and actually stitched some stitches... they were very straight but they were there!! Ha ha Take care & enjoy this week whatever it brings. Zo xx 59
your quilt is beautiful, I love the colours and patterns, fabulous bag too!

Oh my goodness...I just love all the fabrics that make up your quilt squares! What fun you are having! Yes, it is good to take some time off, and hope your dad is doing well. Your bag is so pretty too--hey thanks for visiting my bohemian bag the other day! I think we need to make a book of all your verses. Hugs dear soul sister! Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #113
Cute quilt and the bag goes together well. You're so clever with the machine and I'm sure the recipients will love them. Happy WOYWW! Karen 142 x
Helloooo Jan! Its so good to be back! I'm about to get my sewing machine out myself - wish me luck! I hope your Dad is okay now. Its such a worry when they are so far away. Wonderful quilt and wonderful bag too!
Hello LLJ,
I love your quilt and the purse! I spy that butterfly fabric..... yum!
I'm thinking I might change the bird -- but you do bring up a very valid point! Thanks for visiting.
Happy WOYWW
Hugs, Kay #2
Fabulous quilt there darling! I see you're still just teasing us with the new haircut :)
Super shot of the teasels too.
Happy WOYWW, hugs, Di xx #53
Wow Jan, we are seriously not worthy, can't believe you got to meet Freddie, hubby will be so jealous when l tell him. He is a huge fan as well as Cal's friend, in fact, he stupidly passed up the chance when he was younger to go and see him in concert. He secretly modelled himself on Freddie (quite worrying l know) and even requested a haircut like his lol!
Do you have any photo's of you and Freddie? Did you meet anyone else famous?
It's a fantastic claim to fame and something wonderful to tell your grand kids :)
Big hugs xx
Love the quilt.
Teasles are one of my favourites, especially when they are surrounded by goldfinch having a good feed up.
Happy WOYWW, have a super week,
Laura 146
Great work with the quilt and I really like the co-ordinating bag.
Bernice #61
Another gorgeous quilt for JoZarts cause! I like the little bag you chose! It is colourful and a print that a child will just love to keep their quilt in!
Love the randomness (is that a word?) of your quilt and the bag fabric is gorgeous. But the picture of the day is the gorgeous teasels..... spring is on the way.
Have a great crafty week

Hello Jan!! Love the quilt and bag, gorgeous colours. It is so true about the cost of printers and ink, it is really scandalous and one of the reasons I changed - I just hope I haven't jumped form the frying pan into the fire so to speak!! The blue skies were beautiful and reallylifted my mood. I took my mum out for s atroll on Monday and we counted 14 plants in flower which really surprised us but it was so cold today perhaps Spring isn't quite here yet!! Hugs, Cindy x
You should have called by for a cuppa!!
Great quilt there Mrs! It is amazing how many photos of quilts I see with a pair of hands and top of head poking out!! Tee Hee!
Those teasels look wonderful!
Hugs

Love the button idea! I'm not much good at that sort of thing, HOWEVER,Beloved Hubby is the tech geek in this household(he's always fixing computers), and a bit of a whiz with Photoshop on the quiet, so I have passed the idea over to my IT dept, lol! Hugs, Shaz xx
Gorgeous projects, love the colours...happy WOYWW Gill x #103

Another lovely quit, and that picture of the teasels is perfect. I see the weather has dropped back into winter today, we have had some snow already. Just hoping that the worst holds off until we have had Christmas at our son's house tomorrow. Have a good week with your quilting. xx Maggie #42
Oh how lovely! What a cheerful quilt. You seem to have put that together in no time at all! :)
Just had to pop back a post to say that yes, I am seeing more and more people who say the same - bias binding only on curves. RESULT! I feel vindicated in my laziness.....
:D
