THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD
THAT LEADS TO YOUR DOOR....
I am extremely fortunate that I can step out of my front door and walk in any direction and I will end up in glorious countryside. This is one of the favourite family routes - this was taken last week when we'd had a frost one morning. You see that puddle in the mid distance?? Great fun was had, jumping on the ice listening to it crunch :D  LOL. As my DH says, growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional! I think we're regressing... *grin*

My desk this week is covered in the fabric that I bought in C&H Fabrics in Winchester last Wednesday.
Actually, the photo doesn't do it justice - it's fresh and zingy in 'real life'! I'm cutting out a peg bag and a tote at the moment.

It's an optical illusion pattern - sometimes I see citrus slices, when in fact, they are stylised flowers. Two for the price of one, like it!
Julia and I had gone down to Winchester to meet up with Lisa-Jane for a couple of hours. What a lovely lady she is! We had fun browsing around C&H, then whom should we espy in the haberdashery dept but Janet (aka Fairythoughts). It was like a mini WOYWW convention!!  It was fab to meet you both, ladies :D
This is how the pegbag/tote turned out...

I really like the tote bag, you can't see it but I've done a double line of top stitching around the edge and it's made all the difference. Think I'll do one for me!  I bought the same print but in a different colourway which both Julia and Lisa Jane liked but which I forgot to photograph...duh...

I found the tutorial for the tissue covers!! Huzzah!  It's Cut the Scraps by a WOYWWer called Jane H aka HappypaperCrafter. Thank you Jane, I've really enjoyed making this lot up for prezzies..
Ever so easy to do and a good way to use up those scraps!

I do have serious ribbon envy when reading some of your blogs, but don't buy masses myself. I think it's because I tend to match it to the fabrics I have at the time. Here are two that were part of a Christmas Box of Bits from my mate, Sue. They're almost too nice to use!
Nah, I've got over that now.  I'm going to start making some bread baskets and they'll look lovely tying up the corners!

Hope you have a fab week, all you lovely WOYWWers. See you soon xx

Morning Pet - aren't we both lucky living near the countryside!
Loving those fabrics and I know what you mean about the ribbon envy thing. I have both those ribbons but the one is in a green colourway.
I am going to have to come to Winchester some day and "bump" into you!
See ya soon Honey

I have already been cutting up some of them for my zippy pouch project (it is travelling all the way to the USA when it is done :) Have a lovely week hugs Wend x

That cream ribbon with red dots is one of my faves! Love the peg bag. I'll be making bunting today so can you guess what's on my worksurface today?!!
Lisa-Jane is lovely, isn't she? Although I spent far too much money when we went to Ikea in SOuthampton, she's a bad influence!
Happy Wednesday

Loverly fabric...at first I thought it was citrus fruit but now I see the flowers. The tote bag is lovely and those tissue holders are a great idea. I'm going to make some. No more wads of tissue at the bottom of the bag:)

Oh. My. Pink. Polka. Dots. LOVE. And that citrusy bag has indeed turned out well. I preferred the colourway you've used there - much fresher and more gardeny (if that is not a real word, it jolly well is now). You guys are lovely too - happy days xx

Lovely post....How lucky you are to live so close to country walks. We have to drive a little way first. I can just imagine you having a "cracking" time and your DHs quote is so apt... .you big soft kid!!!
Lovely delicious new fabrics and you've made great stuff with them.
The Flag Tag card I made looks complex but is so easy.... just tags stuck on to either side of a concertina of card. Simples!

Like the peg bag but loved the tote bag, very jealous you are wonderfully talented, hehe laughed thinking of you jumping on the puddle of ice, there was lots of lovely ribbons on display last week, i have a small collection of my own and yet i think i have only ever used it on one card (to make a bow) so i am hoping all this nosing about will give me the idea's inspiration and know how on how to use it. Hope you have a wonderful week Lou #84

That flower pattern is beautiful. I love the tote also.
It would be nice to step outside and right down the rode. We live about 1/2 mile from downtown, so that is fun too, but another way of living.

You're going to have to stop posting these beautiful pictures of England, you're making me homesick! I immediately saw the citrus fruit in that fabric too, but can now see the flowers also. Love the funky tote it made. Would you believe I have that first country style ribbon your friend gave you, I can't bear to cut into it either!

I love the flower/citrus fabric! I actually saw the citrus slices first! The tote bag is fabulous, it would be perfect for a spring or summer day, in fact, its making me excited for warmer weather just looking at it!

Thank you for your lovely comment. That is a carousel tea pot in the back, my parents brought it back from London years ago for my Nonni, and now its mine :) I will take some close up shots of my tote for you and post them up this week. I'll let you know when I do!

LLJ that's a really stunning view... So flat where you are! We have hills and more hills here in Devon! I love your zingy material and what you are doing with it! Great fun. I've got some of that lovely ribbon, too - mostly for stroking, but I have used a bit lol!

Feeling slightly better now, with a few better days interspersing the bad ones and trying to take advantage of them when they come!

Glad you like Sheba's first cut. Yes, the card behind the cut part is silver - a sort of brushed metal effect, not mirror card. The photo just doesn't pick it up properly and it just looks white. It's got a lot more depth in reality!
