WOYWW 124

IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS......!!

Someone once remarked that my desk wasn't messy enough - well, this should prove 'em wrong!!  It's all going on here.  I'm flitting from one project to another without settling to a particular task.  Get a grip, LLJ, you still have two weeks before the first fair..

So, here are some stockings, hearts, bunting all waiting for me to get my act together!

Some random Christmassy -ness...

Here's one I made earlier :)  It was too cold to photograph the bunting outside today so here's my fireplace instead!  I will have to inform people that the material is not flame retardant when I come to selling the stuff though!

Variations on the theme of Christmas Bunting!  You may notice that I've got a bit of a hare thing going on - I'm fascinated by hares, can't explain it, I just am. There's lots of them around where I live and they are amazing to watch. Wild and magical they are - so much more than just big bunnies!!

I decided to make some Christmas Stockings too, using funky materials. They may sell, they may not, but I've really enjoyed making them.  Love this decorations fabric...

The tartan cutouts are for my Gentlemen's Stockings range - no, no, no, NOT like Priscilla, Queen of the Desert at all !!! Am going to do a contrast lining with buttons round the turned over top.  Dunno if they'll work but I'm game for a laugh...

Look - it's the return of the blue, bubblicious material again!  Carmen wanted a pegbag in funky colours and this one had her name right on it.  She emailed me and said that when it got there, her 4yr old thought it was a Mr Tumble (much beloved children's TV character) bag and refused to let it go!  Carmen eventually managed to get it back to put her pegs in but.....

we can't have a little girl going bagless now, can we??

Hope she'll like it :)

I am fortunate to live in a really beautiful part of Wiltshire - we really are spoiled by the gorgeous landscape around. Avebury and Stonehenge are on our doorstep as is the Savernake Forest. This is one of the old Norman Royal hunting forests and still covers a large area, even today.  DH usually travels through here at around 7am and is in the habit of taking his camera.  These shots were taken early one particularly lovely morning last week.

That was a mixed bag from me this time - or maybe I AM the mixed up bag, lol!!  Had a conflab with Son No 2 about his name for this blog and he came up with G3 - Ginger Gentle Giant.  Anything to keep him happy... :D

May your Distressed Inks never be too emotional and your glitter flow freely.  Have a happy week everyone! xx

I don't think it is a case of not settling to anything, more a case of lots already achieved - nice fireplace :) We had a hare at my parents house once came up to the doorstep - I was amazed how big they actually are......

I think the gentlemen stockings will work a treat. Roll on next week and more productivity :)

Such a lovely post... great makes with your fabrics and superb photos by DH. I adore the early morning mist rising in his first one.
I love the hares on your mantle too.
Re my gilded wings. I think they are just going to be a wall decoration ... don't know yet how they'll end up until I get a eureka moment. Watch my space!

Wow, all those christmassy-ness items look so scrummy!!! Your landscape view is fantastic......oh how I'd love to look out the window and see that view too. Enjoy WOYWW!

Oh, I love all your X-mas items. I didn't have finished anything at all yet. I can't find the real Xmas inspiration. Maybe the weather is too bright an sunny. My lovely hubby advised me (with a big smile) to sit in the cellar, because it's cold and dark there... but if that's the right place to get inspiration? Hope next week I can make a start with it or.... do you know a perfect way to get the right mood?
Have a carfty Wednesday. xFranka

That peg bad made me think of Mr Tumble too! You could definitely do a line of things in this fabric for little people. I tried to photograph the bunting this morning but everywhere outside was so wet with frost. I will sort myself out for this week though. Still loving your work LLJ! xx

Love the Christmas doings, I am working to get my painting/book work done as I want to do some Christmas gift making at the weekend, for some reason (I do not do cute) i DO LOve TILDA so I'm making Christmas bunnies (well I do have to twist it n'est pas?) I shall do easter snowmen too, reagardign the move - it is a very lesurely gentle four year plan - starting now so we might have soemthign habitable/workable bu then, and I woudl NOT even consider it, had I not committed myslef to learngn fluent franglais and prepared myself for untold bureaucracy, paperwork and sate legislation by working my clinical backside off for the NHS for 29 Year (33 by the time I hope to be able to move on.... away from our increasingly bad reputation (so hard to prove one still cares these days...) right - back to the grindstone, thanks for pissing by my bloog

So much fun on your work place today, those decorations are lovely! I love the stockings too and I'm sure they'll sell (If not, I'll send you my address!) Eldest daughter comes to visit from college next week so I'm super excited; I've missed having her around! Enjoy the rest of the week.

I love all those projects you have on the go, and the tale of the peg bag. (I really must get the machine out and make myself a new one to replace the totally threadbare one) Your husband's photos are really stunning, and he should be so proud of them. I would definitely use them in a project. They would both make stunning cards, apart from which he should have entered them both in the Countryfile Calendar competition.

Wow, you've certainly been busy! All your sewing projects are looking great, and you should be pleased with them! Happy WOYWW!

You. Are very naughty LLJ! But you made a 4 year old very happy this morning when the postie came :) She has sat with it on her lap all morning, she's got her Tiny Tears bottle and baby bits in it. I think it's coming to school to be shown off in a minute too :P

Thank you Jan - you are amazing!

p.s I adore Tartan - I think those stockings are going to be a huge hit!

I do love it when tidy people talk about their mess; they never really have a mess at all! As for the bag, if the little girl doesn't want it, this big girl would be proud to have it!

Thank you for visiting and giving me a real thrill: the pear on my desk is actually drawn by myself, not a stamp at all. I'm thrilled that you thought it could be a stamp that people would actually want to buy.

Thank you so much from Rachel, who is now a lot less Grumpy and a lot more Happy and Bashful!

Some gorgeous fabrics on your desk this week and I love what you are making with them - especially the bunting.
Know what you mean about the fascination of hares, we don't see any now where I live but we were in Norfolk last June and saw some every day - a real treat.

Love those projects youve been working on. Sadly i miss l that now, i have a 17 year old obnoxious teenager! 'nuff said! lol

Yep! My hair is now a lovely shade a 'gradiated' purple!! Mystic Violet to be exact because i couldn't get my normsl one of Cyber Purple! ...and despite the name it is quite 'subtle'!!

That little space you see is the only space i have for crafting so fitted it out with IKEA kitchen units! They are perfect!

Take care

What a feast of photos on your blog today Jan and every one of them has something interesting in.

First of all I loooooove the two bronzes of the Hare’s on your mental shelf, absolutely beautiful. I often look at things like that when I’m out and about but the price has always put me off buying one.

Now to this week sewing, it looks like you’ve been really busy and your table/stall is going to look very festive indeed, especially with all the bunting hanging up.

Thanks for stopping by my blog this week.

Happy Sewing!

Love the bag you have made for the little girl - so kind. (no. 34)

Wow where to begin! Love the bunting and shame it's not flame retardant as it loos superb on your mantle. As do all the hares, I think they're fab too. There's such a lot of pagan lore associated with them and you're in striking distance of both Avebury and Stonehenge, perhaps there are deeper forces at work here!! And hubby's shots deserve a post of their own, pleas put up more of his pics, especially if they're of the English countryside, which just can't be beat IMO!

Hugs

Gorgeous photos of the area near where you live. I love Avebury (so much more than Stonehenge) and think Silbury Hill is almost Magical... or at least it would be if people would learn to clean up after their pooping doggies! (I always clean up after mine!). Some of my fondest memories are of Avebury... when my youngest daughter (then three) caught the eye of some american tourists "Ain't she the sweetest?!" they exclaimed... and her reply was to shout out "Sheep s**t Mummy, Sheep s**t!" whilst pointing out the little piles of dung all over the place. How dare anyone call my baby 'cute' *lol*
I LOVE your bunting... and how sweet of you to make the "Mr Tumble" bag (my granddaughter loves him too!).

I love your mixed bag post. The Christmas stockings and bunting are perfect and the bag for the little girl...how precious! I wanted to thank you for stopping by my blog and replied there but didn't have your email so here's what I said there...And a PS after seeing this...you could do round robins with the bunting or stockings for those you want to keep!!!
Thanks Jan!!! I really love surface designing fabric. It's probably my favorite thing to do. :) Actually, we're embroidering on each other's blocks...and all learning in the process. jaeartworks (above) mentioned that she'd done round robins with drawing. I love that idea too! Really you could try it with most any medium. :)
