IT'S LIKE A HEATWAVE...
After a calmer week temperature wise, it looks like we're heading into another heatwave so I'll be doing my best to keep away from the sun and in the cool of the JanCave!
The unexpected craft fair went really well last Saturday, raised a goodly amount:
The tables were smaller so everything looks a bit crammed on but never mind! The stall next to me was a ceramics one run by a lovely lady, Planet Janet, who appeared on the TV programme The Great British Throw Down.
She's as mad as a box of frogs, we had a good chat about the programme. She lives locally so hopefully our paths will cross again some time soon.
I thought I'd dig out the blocks I made recently and put some sashing on them:
I was deciding between two spotty fabrics...
...and went for the dove grey one (you're seeing the wrong side here!)
Trimming them up before attaching the side strip - the blocks were too busy just to sew together, it made my eyes ache!
I've been experimenting with some patterns for later in the year so I apologise now for the next two extremely unseasonal pics.....
These are all small and use up a lot of scrap yarn and when you sew them together.....
Makes a snowman chocolate orange cover! I've got a few RNLI ladies going to knit stuff for the Christmas fairs which start in October so need to get the patterns out soon before holidays etc start. They can make them in their own time then! Btw, there's a tennis ball inside this one, too hot for chocolate right now *grin*
If you're of a delicate nature then look away pronto - you see, I've been trying out another knitting pattern for a doll knitted in one piece, then the features are sewn in place afterwards. I'd done the first stage of the outer and started to laugh, it was like Julia and the Elephant all over again:
Errrrm, it's not good is it? G was wondering what on earth I was making! I'm not sure this pattern is for me, I'd snigger too much, lolol!!!
On that happy note, hope you have a good week and keep as cool as you can xxxx

Ha Ha, it has been good to have a chuckle first thing in the morning.... happy knitting!! Well done on the craft fair, and great to see the Throw Down lady! Happy WOYWW and good luck staying cool... Helen #2
Like Helen said, it has been good to have a chuckle first thing.
Love the photo of the lady who pots. If she is fun you two will get on well and I hope you meet up again.
Your stall looked good, you too, stood behind it. The quilt makes a nice back cloth to the whole stand and there is plenty there for people to choose from.
Hope you can keep cool in the coming days.
Hugs, Neet 4 xx

My reaction to trying to make one of those wee people was the same as yours! I loved Janet on the Throwdown and great to know she’s just the same in real life. Glad you had good sales from your stall and it looked so inviting. I too will be indoors as the temperatures rise-we fair skinned Celts don’t do well in this weather. Catriona

Good to see you are getting a”head” of your crafts 🤣🤣. I didn’t see that programme, but she looks a friendly person. That’s the sort we want to meet! Keep cool! Hugs Angela #9
Oh I'm crying, it's the elephant but frilled!! Can't see many of those erm, coming to life! You are looking fab Jan, hope you can see it too! The craft fair spread looks amazing, I'm glad you did well, and meeting someone you'd like to meet again is a real bonus.im not posting today, been tied up this morning and out this evening so will be doing too much catch up. Thank you so much for the gorgeous card...I love it...I have questions about your technique and skill, so stand by whe we next catch up! Friend Debbie has had a second hip emplacement so am doing a bit of running, she's mobile but it wasn't as easy as hoped....ugh. Got a WI stall at Ludgershall Party in the Park on Saturday and trying to plan extra shade etc, or I think we'll be drooping too soon!!
Oh you are funny with your new patterns, I thought it was a FAB icecream with chocolate top at first! Can't imagine what you were alluding to! Super snowman and sewn blocks too. Great o to meet up with a "Box of Frogs" I could do with that in my life right now, everyone I meet is so stayed, I don't fit in well. Not looking forward to the impending heat again and am already hunkering down. Hugs BJ#1
Oh, you are naughty, Jan! I tried to imagine what the knitted pieces were going to be before seeing the following photo. The snowman is lovely. I enjoy examining the photos taken of your tables prepped before the sale and picking out the items you've been showing us in previous posts. How nice for you to meet Planet Janet. Looks like the start of a lovely friendship. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #12
LOL! That ... warmer is a hoot. Love the little snowman and I like the look of the blocks as well. I know Dear Son and Pretty Girl watched TGPT (they love ALL those kind of shows) so will ask him about Janet. The stall looks full of lovely items, so not surprised you did well. Stay cool on this late, HOT WOYWW

Hope the heat hasn't hit too hard this week Jan. Well done with the extra fundraising. Just making quick visits. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW.
Good morning, Jan.
it's been hot here, too. So ready for fall.
Great to meet new friends! Glad you raised a lot for a very worthy cause!
Bob asked the other day when I was going to do something with the walmart fabric years ago. I told him, 'I'll get to it' LOL
Creative Blessings & Hugs!
