THANK YOU FOR BEING A FRIEND...

Lovely to be linking up once again at with Julia and co at Stamping Ground with crafting friends all around the world sharing what we've got on our desks this Wednesday!

I decided to make a lap quilt (20 squares rather than 30) and had a fun hour sorting out my strips again. The ordering has varied from widths to lengths to the current incarnation of rough colour groups with spots/fillers separately. Whether it'll stay that way who knows!

There's a definite soft tones theme to this one and I'm using some of the offcuts left over from the fabrics Wipso sent me (which I've used mostly for charity stuff)

I still think that the simple act of trimming the block is like magic!

Pretty pastels!  The weather isn't looking great for the next couple of days so I'll aim to get this backed and bordered.

I had a little bit of a fabric splurge - when ordering some more Welsh flag fabric on eBay. I discovered that the seller was in Tenby, an hour down the road and she has two websites - pilipalafabrics.co.uk and fabricfavourites.co.uk. There are some gorgeous (and very reasonable) fabrics to lust over! There is a discount code - SUMMER10 - available until Sept 30th, which gives 10% off orders over £30. I may have done that...cough...

Aren't they lush?! The puffins one was pricier but that's a treat for me - a bag for definite.

And these are a bit different for my charity makes, the purple is for linings. They'll be fun to work with!

It was my birthday yesterday, a quiet one after a week of being wobbly with vertigo.  I had some fab cards and prezzies - one card was a DIY affair....

A press out puffin!! Fun eh?! You can't have too many puffins in my opinion ;-)

There's a definite colour theme of heathers, purples and autumn tones in my cards and also:

A mixed media fabric kit from Lynne (together with a signed copy of her book, how exciting!) I can see Scottish hills and moorland with heather and wildflowers. Aren't the colours gorgeous? I'm going to have fun with these beauties, thank you so much Lynne, I really love it xxx

Hope you all have a great week and enjoy your crafting! xxxx

I hope the vertigo has gone now Jan. It's horrible. Your fabrics are super - puffins especially. Thanks for the link. I was in Watson and Thornton yesterday and I avoided looking at the fabric! I just love the effect of the strips in the quilt - you have the knack of creating real treasures. x x Jo

Hi Jan. I love your cut out puffin, and the puffin fabric so cute! Hope you enjoyed your birthday and that the weather permitted your walk and picnic. I read somewhere about carpet picnics on rainy days!
Your new quilt is lovely; these strip quilts seem to come together like magic.
Glad you like your pressies.

Your gift from Lynne is beautiful, I love the colour mix she sent you, works perfectly together. I bought the book but haven't even opened it as yet. Too much reading at the moment with a set of books but I will read it soon as I enjoyed her snippets before.
Adore the Puffin fabric, no wonder you snaffled that one for yourself to have a make from. Also the Puffin DIY card, what a fab idea.
Enjoy the remainder of your birthday week, just sorry I did not know.
Hugs, Neet xx 1

More vertigo, so sorry about that. Starting to think that it's your brain/body trying to make you slow down for a few days so it can catch up! A very definite theme to your birthday table, isn't it nice! Lovely gift from Lynne....I say that secure in the knowledge that I have no idea what one should do with such lovely stuff! I like the softer tones for the lap quilt too, and if it's destined to be for you, believe me, you'll get so much use...I actually have a basket behind the sofa with fleeces and two lap quilts. Intended for outdoor late evenings and most recently used inside! Ugh, this weather! Happy returns my mate.

Dear Jan!
Hope vertigo is gone and you had this quiet Birthday. Sometimes it's necessary to be calm....Sorry for you.
You were so busy! I love the new fabric. And thank you for showing the Birthday cards, so I know the snail mail had done it's way.
Thank you for this new Wednesday blog.

Lovely cards for your birthday and glad you had a nice day despite vertigo. I went to The Remnant Shop in Harrogate last week but left without making any purchases. I thought the prices were steep and there is no longer any sense of it being a remnant shop. An american woman who was flying home the next day was buying enough fabric to fill a suitcase before she set off for home the next day. Her husband and Norrie were sitting on a bench commiserating with each other. Happy sewing. Catriona

I hope your birthday was good despite the vertigo [what a pain that is!!]. Love your fabrics and what you do with them. Do you back your strip quilts with wadding? I've got so must fabrics here I must have a go at making one [but not today as was up all night looking after the twins while Shell was in A and E!!....Lots of tests done but no results and not a lot better this morning sadly].

I meant to stop by earlier today, but life got in the way. I didn't play this week because I am hosting my own link party and didn't want to confuse anyone. See you next Wednesday to answer your question about my smallest rocking horse.

LOVE that puffin.

Hi Jan, please accept my belated birthday wishes (Hangs head in shame - the new birthday card list/system is definitely NOT working!!). I love the puffin card and the puffin fabric. The pastel tones in your quilt are great. The cutting out effect is similar with pap3r scraps. You can put your scraps together any old how and it looks a hot mess but as soon as you trim it, frame it I guess, it all comes together. Love it. I really must try out some watercolour videos as I have no idea what I am doing!! Have a good week, love n hugs Cindyxx #7

Checked out Ellen "Criminal" Trent. Fortunately Google understood but there were some interesting other items in the search too LOL. Watched a tutorial about mixing your greens whilst I was soaking in the bath (need to soak for 15-20 minutes before application of steroid ointment) I need something to keep me in the bath more than the usual 10 minutes! Thanks. Saw GP today and it's just a stubborn viral sore throat and to give it another couple of weeks to clear....Hugs BJ#3
