PUFF THE MAGIC DRAGON LIVED BY THE SEA....
Thanks for all your good wishes regarding G last week, he's back to normal...well, I say normal.... ;-) We continued to have a quiet week, pottered, went out to Aberglasney Gardens for a stroll etc etc.
I also heard from Laura in the cafe that all four peg bags had gone so I made some more!
This fabric came from Doughty's recently, I had intended using it for quilt backing but thought it deserved to be star of the show. I paired it with a new spotty, a funny blue to describe, not royal, not navy, not cobalt...anyway, it picked up the hint of blue in the rose fabric very nicely!
Fun! I got a range of these Rose & Hubble spot fabrics from The Remnant House in Harrogate, £5.99 a metre as opposed to £7.50 upwards on eBay. Costs have definitely gone up with cotton fabrics, I do have a hunt around to get a bargain but also a nice design.
Blues and Greens topped up, there are some pinks and lilacs on the way as well.
I rummaged around to see what else I could make a peg bag from:
And turned up a small remnant of the Welsh dragon fabric, there was just enough to get one peg bag and 3 glasses cases, I cut very carefully indeed!
Waiting for the mid-way pressing!
And that's it apart from the fact that my crochet squares are sitting on the dining table waiting to be sent off to the Sewing Up Lady:
A good range of colours, I hope they'll make a happy blanket for someone.
Hope you're all keeping well and happy and may your crafting be satisfying xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Glad that G is better. you have been productive as ever. those spotty fabrics are beautiful. Well done on your careful cutting with the dragon fabric. Happy WOYWW Helen #2
Good early morning, its 1;20 a m. here, couldn't sleep and set the air conditioning temps to cooler. We are having extreme heat this week. Warnings out on staying inside and hydrated. We will need rain after this passes to keep our garden and crops healthy.
Our world is just a mess. Gas here sky rocked UP just as the summer vacations begin. School will start in 3 wks and I am wondering where summer has gone.
I checked out last weeks post and LOVE that fabric you were using. We've had a LOT of fabric and quilt stores close. My only shopping for fabric is limited to Hobby Lobby and JoAnn's neither which have NEW fun varieties. I buy some fun little squares at Walmart for my crafting fun.
Enjoy a great few days left in July and MERRY MERRY !
You are your careful cutting! It reminds me of a bit from (def LMA, but could be Little Women, could be An Old-fashioned Girl, not sure which!) where much is made of a clever girl patching a torn sleeve with only 17 pieces! Kindred spirits I suspect... I do love me some dotty fabric too, so very useful. Love your tidy room shot as well. If only...
Happy WOYWW + Knitting day!

I'm always amazed at the fabrics you get. There are so few places round us that sell fabrics anymore. Pleased to hear that G is better. Look forward to seeing the finished blanket too. Have a very happy woyww. Hugs, Angela x9x
I’m glad Gordon’s better. I thought you wrote Abergavenny at first and thought, that’s a long way to go for a stroll! 🙄
Great cutting skills on the dragon peg bag! Your fabrics are lovely and I like all your blue and green spotty ones. Your blanket squares are beautiful too and very regular.
Take care and happy WOYWW

I can't remember who I was telli;g about your knitting and crocheting of squares that you then pass to Sewing Up Lady, but whoever it was tried really really hard to get me to reveal who Sewing Up Lady and where she lives! Seems you aren't alone with the dislikes!! Really made me laugh when she wouldn't believe that I didn't know!
Really glad to read that G is feeling better, they come out of nowhere don't they, these icky days. Have you gotta plan for next week.
Quick visits today as I seem to be even busier than usual now that the holidays are here. Sorry to hear G has been poorly - glad he is on the mend! Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #15

Morning Jan, good to hear G is back to er...normal? Thos wads of dotty really made me smile, I do love a polka dot. Industrious as ever I see, love all those little squares!! Have a good week, love n hugs Cindyxx #13
Wow, you are such a busy lady. Love your peg bags. Hugs Anesha
That may not be Puff the Magic Dragon, but that Welsh dragon fabric made a great peg bag. Great cutting, too. I always get upset when someone is demoing something on TV and they use the center of a piece of fabric. They give the impression that is where the viewer is supposed to cut or tear from, too.
Loved seeing those crochet squares. If I had a Sewing up Lady, I wouldn't have given all my squares away. I hate sewing squares together. Good for you. Happy WOYWW from # 1.
As always lovely sewing from gorgeous fabrics....I'm loving dipping into this box of donated fabrics. I loved making the rag doll so much that I've now made another one and today I am doing some quilt as you go....just not sure what I will do with it yet :-)
Glad G is better now....big hugs coming his way.
Hugs,

Dear Jan!
I'm not surprised that your peg bags are selling so well. You sew so neatly and always have beautiful fabrics.
I am glad that G is feeling better again. Then you'll feel better right away too.
Yes, fabrics are getting more expensive, just like life in general. And in Austria the letter post is also getting more expensive.
Let your sewing machine glow and keep on chrochet!
Today we had rain!! The air is fresh! I'm happy!
Eva from Austria
And breathe. . . Jan you have been busy! The rosey fabric is gorgeous and does deserve to be centre stage. I'm glad G is back to normal 😉 All good here and equally busy. It keeps us out of mischief doesn't it 🤣🤣
Happy to hear G is better, nothing worse than being sick in the summertime! Your pegbags are all beautiful! No wonder they are all being snatched up so quickly! I do love the jungle fabric from last week!
That quilt is absolutely gorgeous! Well done! Have a great week, Lindart #20
Glad G is back to normal. Funnily enough Chas was sick last weekend (from a pie he bought) and it was touch and go for the funeral but he brightened up enough to drive us down there mand is now back to normal.
Love Puff the Magic Dragon despite it being tied to drugs. And your Welsh dragons are fabulous again. That fabric will go down really well with the tourists.
Love the Roses though and the spotty is a real favourite of mine. I go for spotty and gingham every time.
Have a lovely week.
Hugs, Neet 3 xx
Well done on the careful cutting out and getting the most from your fabric. The cutting was always the worst/scary part for me. Love all the spotty fabric in colour order makes my heart sing. super job Hugs BJ#14
Just saw your comment and question about rocking horses on my blog. I think I have ONE horse that may be smaller and three or four that are about the same size as the one ion the medallion (NOT including the blown glass replacement). The largest may be a bit hard to determine. The largest that is the heaviest is my metal (brass) rocking horse. It is probably about 3 ft or so tall at the head. It weighs about 80 lbs.
I have two that are wooden and children like to ride on them. They are not quite as tall as the brass horse, but are wider. One is a wooden rocker that sits on my front porch that is one children like to sit IN. It's more like a sleigh design if that makes sense. Thanks for asking.
Happy Belated WOYWW. Having a sit down after starting a new 'exercise class' with Better5.com. Good excuse to have a nosey around some blogs. Yes, St Davids Cathedral is wonderful - but I definitely prefer it at a quieter time of year. They are doing another tour in September, so hope to go on that one. They are also doing tours of the 14th Century Gatehouse throughout August (not open to the public), so will join one of those when we are back from our next Forest of Dean trip. Looking forward to doing some more colouring and 1. having more markers to choose from, and 2. having them right in front of me and organised. I love the colours of your crochet squares. Ali x #19
So glad G is on the mend. Oh some lovely makes there and I bet the welsh dragon ones will fly out now we are in the height of tourist season too.
Thanks for visiting my desk already, running a bit late this week with return
