IN THE JUNGLE, THE MIGHTY JUNGLE.....
All together now - A wim a wey, a wim a wey.....
Sorry, you'll see why in a minute! Hope you've had a good week, it's been quieter here at LLJ Towers due to the topsy turvy weather and G being poorly. So I've done a fair bit of sewing whilst listening to the new Penguin Audiobooks of Terry Pratchett's Discworld, they're brilliant!
I had three metres of this fab jungle print and it's now all been used (an apron, two peg bags, three shoppers, 3 glasses cases and a purse...and a partridge in a pear tree...!!)
I do try and pattern place so there's a feature on the front of the cases.
Here's one of the pegbags - a special order from Anne Copperbeech as her old one had fallen apart after many years' service. I had a smallish piece of that blue spotty left and used that up as the lining. Hope you're pleased with it Anne!
I've also started to delve into the stash that Wipso sent, starting with the larger pieces to see what can be got out of them. The sweeties pattern has a heavy reliance on licorice and aniseed....bleurgh. but someone may like them.
I managed to get a shopper and one glasses case out of the pieces, quite pleasing.
I also finished the string quilt last week - it's hanging over the banister at the moment while I decide what to do with it!
It came out quite well in the end!
And more colour can be found in my crochet squares that I still do when watching telly:
Mostly from stash yarn though I did buy that lime green and kingfisher blue to pick up the tones in the variegated squares - 64 down, 20 to go before I send them off to the nice sewing up lady ;-)
Hope you're having a good week - may your crafting be stress free xxxxx

wow, you just never stop! I love the jungle fabric...and I am sure Anne will love her peg bag. Hope G is better soon and it would be nice to see some proper July weather, too. Happy WOYWW Helen #3
I hope G is ok and feeing better. Well done all that fab sewing. The sweetie jar fabric is cute - oh and I love liquorice but then I did live near Pontefract for years and you could smell the sweet factory all over the town! x x Jo
Oh I do hope G is on the mend - Luckily the European heatwave has not hit the UK, as it is miserable to be ill when the temp soars!Your quilt is stunning and I am like you - so hard to be truly random. My brain searches for order. Lovely fabric, as ever and your knack for putting things together is unreal. I always enjoy your colourful blog - it never fails to cheer me up no matter what. Loving the crochet as well - your colour scheme is right up my alley!
Happily a bit better for WOYWW!

Hi Jan, I hope G is feeling better?
Your quilt looks fantastic and I love your jungly work even though I now have the lion sleeps tonight as an ear worm . Quite appropriate as I have Gracie sleeping on my shoulder as I type. The bags I took to France were very enthusiastically received, especially by Evelyne who loved her sausage dog bag and glasses case, thank you.
Your crochet squares are beautiful colours too.
Take care and happy WOYWW

Hope G is feeling better now. The jungle print is fabulous and so is the fabric from Annie. Once I have hoed the front garden border, I am going to sit down and sew!! Catriona
I'm sorry is that all one week? Please can you send me a supply of whatever it is you are on.... all gorgeous of course. Funny you should mention Terry Pratchett today. Last night I started re-watching series 1 of Good Omens in anticipation of Season 2 and hadn't registered that the book was originally a Terry Pratchett collaboration - and immediately though I wonder if LLJ watched this? See, I do take note. Have a great week, love n hugs Cindyxx #15
Great sewing again, I love seeing how you match your pieces of fabric.
Hope G is feeling up to his normal cheerful self soon . .
Have a good week

Sorry to read about your husband. I hope he is better soon.
I love that jungle print. It is beautiful. I also like licorice, but gummy strawberries sound bleurgh to me.
That is a beautiful quilt. That design is quite popular now, but it would have made my grandmother go crazy. She was SO fussy about the corners and diagonals that must match perfectly. I don't think I would ever have been able to convince her that was how the quilt was meant to go together. You did a fabulous job. Happy WOYWW from # 1.
Wahooooooo wahoooumum um um away. That's todays ear worm sorted then! So sorry that G hasn't been well, I hope he's turned the corner. Aren't they a worry. Nice use if the fabrics there gal, I'm with you on the liquorice bleurgh, but there's plenty who will like it and also of course, plenty who won't look closely at the print and judge it by the contents of the jars!! Bet Anne will love the peg bag!
I'm a liquorice lover Jan so hand yours my way please :-) So lovely to see the fabrics being put to good use....I will happily send more when you need some. I am loving dipping into it all and finding just the right colours for what's needed.
Hugs,

Oh dear, I hope G is soon better. I can well imagine you are worrying about him.
Obviously love the quilt, I have something similar and I love it and it is so useful on my large stool (makes the stool look good) and it keeps me toasty warm when I put it over me on a cold evening. Will look good on the back of the new settee when we get it.
The jungle print is fabulous - what a lot of lovely items you made from that fabric. Talk about busy fingers!
Hugs, Neet 16 xx (an aniseed lover - the balls and Pernod with Coke or Ricard)
Oh wow what a great collection of fabric projects and the quilt is gorgeous. Hope G is better soon. Wishing you a very happy and creative WOYWW, Angela x8x
Love that fabric, you have made some great things from it. Also love your quilt and crocheting too - you busy lady. xx
Hope G is better soon. Happy WOYWW and thank you for your kind words. Angela #14
Hi Jan. I am late visiting, one of those days. No peg bag today but I know I will love it when it arrives. Hope your G is a lot better soon! Anne x 18
Love the jungle print, I've been painting tropical leaves this week too. Yep definitely swept up on it but crashed out yesterday so am a day behind now! Yes I really ought to keep my hands busy whilst watching TV as I just snack otherwise. Super makes as always. Hugs BJ#15
Dear Jan!
Today is the first morning, I was able to open the windows for hours.
It was so hot!! We had tropical nights and storms.
I hope, G is feeling better soon. Please give him a special hug from the old Austrian lady.
I admire all the things you have sewn again.
Love the tropical fabric (better than tropical nights...smile..)
Wish you all the best!
Eva from Austria
