SO MANY COLOURS TO BE SEEN..
I think my sewing machine would quite like to go back to the quiet workshop of the engineer - I've certainly put it through its paces again this week!
The desk from a couple of days ago:
This was from the latest batch of fabric from Doughty's online and I LOVE it! The orange is the perfect lining and I had so much fun making a few bags, cases and peg bags from this. The extra wide fabric means I can get a lot more out of £10 worth!
So I'm keeping a peg bag and shopping bag for myself, cos they make me happy! The fabrics on the left will be the next production line.
But not quite yet because I just had the fancy to make another quilt....now there's something I never thought I'd hear myself saying but these string blocks are very satisfying to use up odds and ends - here's today's desk:
I do ten blocks at a time and really enjoy the choosing of what strips go next - I'd love it to be totally random but my brain just doesn't work that way!
I just chain them through the machine, snip them apart then iron and choose the next strip, it's ever so therapeutic.
And before you know it, the square is covered in colour, all set for a final good press and then trimmed to size.
Yesterday brought some happy mail, a box filled with lengths of quilting cotton from our lovely Wipso! She'd received another huge donation and shared it out with her usual generosity. There's lots of really useful stuff there for all sorts of projects:
It's really fab quality too so that's a big saving when making up the items for charity. Thanks Annie, you're a true star and I'm very grateful!!
Hope you've all had a good week and that your crafting is going well. Thanks for all the great comments, I do value your friendship and support xxxxxxxxx

I do love all those fabrics Jan - generous of Annie to share but it is always in a good cause. Hope the machine doesn't go on strike with all that use lol. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. sarah #3
I love the idea of stringing. I've never done that but it makes sense. Those fabrics are fab- especially the blue floral and orange. Perfect combo. Enjoy your quilting! x x Jo
That's a haul from Annie, she must be stepping over the donated fabrics, how great that she can help you to support your charities too. Yep, I'm with you, loving the blue floral with the orange, it's a real joy to look at isn't it! I think I'd have to choose the strips for the quilt randomly or I'd end up wasting so much time trying to get matches, not sure I could do it! I'm repeating myself but no doubt at all that your ironing skills are a massive contribution to the finish of your pieces. Pretty sue that helps them in sales terms, they look so professional and new.
I can understand you keeping the blue bags, so bright and cheerful . . . bet they sell out quickly.
Talk gently to your machine and I am sure it will keep going . .
Enjoy your week

You never cease to amaze me with your charity sewing.
The orange and blue looks fabulous, a favourite combination of mine - and the daisies with the green spotted stuff is going to be another winner.
So you are keeping a bag for yourself? Bet you more or less have one for every colour of outfit by now - coordinated shopping.
I love my hare stamp, it gives me pleasure colouring him in, just like your chain sewing works for you, this is therapeutic for me. I can see those owls being just the same and maybe I will use wild colours on them.
Hugs, Neet 1 xx
You and I are definitely color driven, Jan. I really LOVE those flowers and the orange backing. I was in awe of your new quilt squares. Like you, I have trouble with random, too. What a great way to use up your scraps.
How sweet of Annie to send that fabric. I know it will come in handy for your charity projects. I suspect the fabrics on the right will be backing, because I know how you thrive on color. Happy WOYWW from # 2.
Love those creams and beiges from Anne. You make those strip quilts look so easy to do. You are always so productive! Happy W. Angela #11
I'm grabbing a few minutes to whizz around my favourite blogs. It's been one of those mornings with a customer who keeps forgetting to come [4th time now!!].
Doesn't the fabric look fab layed out like that? I had just grabbed a selection to fill your box really. Have fun using it....I'm in the process of making a cat quilt[ meaning a quilt with cats on it not one for a cat lol].
Hugs,

Amazing, a one woman assembly line with beautiful colors and patterns. It's great we all have crafty ideas to keep us sane. And blessed we have the space to create. Enjoy a great week Jan
Love how you match the dotty fabric with the patterned ones, loving the upcoming combo, my happy colours. I can just see the pieces Whizz through the machine. My machine on my desk would cause a traffic jam like that LOL. Your set up is just perfect. I got the win for the weekly challenge and the monthly one gets done eventually but I agree about a daily project, far too much stress. It's bad enough with all the topical potions I need to administer day and night for my skin condition! WOW all that lovely fabric from Wispo too, brilliant. Hugs BJ#13
I love to see your quilts develop and these fabrics look perfect for it. Annie's so kind to send you this lovely fabric. Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww. Hugs, Angela x9x
Love all your makes especially the quilt! I found children’s coat hangers in Wilco’s at £1.25 for 5 so going to try another peg bag using those. Catriona
Wow! You hit the jackpot with all that fabric! I do love the blue flowered fabric, I don't blame you for keeping some of that for yourself! Thanks for your visit, Lindart #17

I love piecing, and usually have some going on. And you're spot on with the therapy expression... it really is good Medicine!
