MY HEART BELONGS TO WALES...
I'm making some more blocks with a soft pastel theme this time....
..and another Welsh flag peg bag to go in the cafe before the Easter Holiday rush...
...and my new yarn purchase might have been influenced by the flowers on the table!!
Monday was a gorgeous spring day so G and I headed out into the countryside to visit Aberglasney gardens - like Heligan, these were also 'lost' and restored over many years. We're members but this was our first visit in 2023.
We saw a sign saying 'This way to the Ninfarium' and had to have a nosy. It's part of the ruined house which has been glassed over and was inspired by the Gardens of Ninfa in Italy. I don't know how we've missed it before, it's brilliant and very atmospheric (warning, lots of pics ahead)
It turned a ruin into a tropical zone!
It used what had been the interior and exterior of the building.
Fireplaces, doorways and windows were all used in some way!
And the sunlight highlighted the colour and patterns of the leaves. Gorgeous!
The grounds were lovely, everything was springing forth:
The fruit trees have been carefully trained to make a trellis...
We spent ages just mooching round all the winding paths..
..and just enjoying our beautiful corner of Wales! Aberglasney isn't massive but it's really lovely and worth a visit if you're ever in the area.

Where to begin! The quilt? Looking fabulous. The yarn? LOVE that colour combo. The solar panels? Wish we could have them but the house faces "wrong" we were told. Bah! But crikey the Ninfarium is wonderful! Sending it to the Hubster to add to our Days-out list for sure. All in all the most wonderful visit. Off the check out the week(S?) I missed....

Beautiful, Beautiful photos. Not many signs of Spring in our area. Only migrating birds who are freezing. high winds/20 out and storms on the way. I can hardly wait. Your yarn flowers are so cute. Have a good week and HAPPY WOYWW

Goodness what treasures this week - the stunning red orchids against the stonework are out of this world - I love them in an outdoor setting (albeit under glass), they look so natural like that. What a wonderful place to visit. I love your fabric squares too - I have no idea how you get them so flat - I love the summer colours and fabrics.

Thanks for the visit to the lost gardens. What a lovely set of photos you have to remind you. Perhaps you will visit again when blooms are different and treat us to more photos.

Solar geeks! Made me laugh. It is rather lovely to somehow, even if he doesn’t know it, to be sticking it to the man! I’m glad you’re anticipating an Easter rush down the Harbour Lights, I know you’re right to, and long live sunshine! Love your photos of the Ninfarium, what a fab concept to glaze the ruin. Love it. Aberglasny seems like a bit of a secret, and I love the sound of it not being huge…easier to cope with and deal with all the sensory-ness ness. Loving the welsh flag peg bag, I wonder if in Coronation approach time we might need some Union Jack stuff too?! We = I of course!!
Love the latest colourway of your patchwork and yarns. The garden you visited looks wonderful and well worth a visit.
