AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR AS E'ER SHE DID SEE
WITH THE WASSAILING BOWL WE'LL DRINK TO THEE...
It was an interesting 2022 to say the least but I'm determined that this New Year is going to be more positive!
G and I have decided that we're going to wing everything in 2023 as most plans made last year went t*ts up, lol! Bring it on!!
I have my JanCave back and have reinstated pretty much all the sewing doo dahs:
We had a sort out of shirts from my menfolk and all these had frayed collars, bleach marks etc etc, so I've cut out all the usable bits and will use them through the year - there was very little left!
My mate Kim passed on some fabric to me as she's having a big sort out, all useful stuff - I'm going to make an apron from the stripey one, there's a good couple of metres there so enough to make folding shoppers too.
And I've been using up odds and ends to crochet some more blankets - rather than squares this time, I'm making long strips (like a Dr Who scarf) which will go vertically with long plain sections between. Less sewing up you see, mwahahahaha.....
A bit staged but you can see what I mean - the dark green yarn in the basket at the back is going to be the linking colour and a border (if there's enough) Sorting out all this colour has made me very happy though I'm finding doing 'random' very trying - I just have a methodical brain that sees patterns in everything.
There's a basket of woolly goodness eh?!
I wish you health and happiness for 2023 - friendship, support, camaraderie too xxxxxxxxx

Looks like you are making the most of getting your Jancave back. Happy New Year. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW Sarah #1
good luck with the new blankets - I like your plan for less sewing up! Happy New Year to you and G, hope your "wing it" plans bring forth a great year ahead. Helen #2
Hi Jan,
Happy New Year. Hope 2023 brings all you wish for.
Always good to recycle things, so those shirts will be useful, as will the fabric from your friend.
Loving the blanket colours. Another way of doing less sewing is to make the blanket in one go. Just do a chain as long as you want and whizz up and down that, not stopping till you have the size of blanket you want. Depending on the size and wool used, it can get a bit heavy.
Happy WOYWW

I love all that shirty fabric fabric (phew near miss there - predictive text nearly put another similar word!) I think winging it is the best way to go- life seems to throw so many hiccups our way these days. Enjoy your year. Looking forward to lots of crafty fun and hopefully a meet up at some point.x x xJo
Happy new year Jan
It’s lovely to see so much colour, such a happy sight.
Hopeimg that 2023 is kind to you and here’s to winging it. I’m all for that
Take care
Lynn xx
Last year wasn't the best ever for us but hoping it will get better. There's one thing when we visit you there's always plenty of colour which has encouraged me to think maybe that's what I need more of in my art work. Have a lovely New Year woyww. Hugs Angela x10x
The menfolk around your house only wear blues? Love all the different patterns! Happy New Year to you too dear, I hope 2023 brings all you wish for! Hug from Holland, Marit #11
Happy New Year! As usual lots to read on your post. Love the idea of the blanket stripsa but I am off crochet for a bit! Happy WOYWW!

I like the idea for your new blanket, I always crochet my squares together as I hate the sewing up bit as well.
What a pretty basket of colours . . . makes me want to look at all my 'bits' . . . . NO, I have just started a new ball of wool.
Enjoy all your joining ups.

Hi Jan, a useful sort out, that! I love your dr Who scarf. I agree about plans - did you see one of the Xmas University Challenges which showed European rivers in 2022 and how dry they were? No wonder your cruise didn’t work out.
A very happy new year to you too.

All that colour on your desk just makes me so happy!! And I love your master plan - mwhahaha indeed. I think winging it is definitely going to be the way to go at least for the next few months with all the big family changes coming up, I definitely think my life will be 'the best laid plans........'. Glad my little meme made you smile but like you it doesn't really apply to me. My unfinished projects go back much further than that. Happy New Year, love n hugs Cindyxx #11
How nice to have the Jan cave back. Love the idea of the new blanket - less sewing up has to be a good thing! Great use of those old shirts as well - nice to see them being used rather than going to waste. Happy New Year and Happy WOYWW. Love & God Bless, Caro xx (#15)
Happy New Year to you. Anesha x
Great use of the shirts Jan. I wish you lived closer and could use some of my fab curtain fabrics....it's rather heavy to post you some sadly.
Thanks for your help/advise with ideas of what to make.
Hugs,

Some great colors and ideas. It's nice to have a sort thru and reorganize. You always seem energized and have fun doing your projects. ALL a Good thing.
Wishing you and yours the Best for 2023
Best Wishes to all your family Jan for a much healthier 2023. Love all the shirt fabric-so many things can be made from it. I’m still finishing the jigsaw which has had to be moved to the sewing room as I had guests for brunch today. Happy makingx
Happy New Year again my friend. Am loving the less sewing up tactic, but the pleasure in that may well be offset by the itchy teeth caused by the random! It does look great though - glad it’s not a temperature indicator blanket, those blues are getting very icy! Spect it feels happy and ad to have the Jan Cave back after having all your boys at home for the hol. I hope you’re both on the up now. Xxxxx
I can’t do random, I start thinking that a different colour would look better and should I really put those colours together! I like the scarf/long seams idea. You are very thrifty with the shirts. Happy WOYWW. Angela #19
Love how you cut the shirts up BEFORE storing, I just bung the shirts in the bed drawer as is. I think I need to take a leaf out of your book, would save space too. Loving all the wool colours, defo woolly goodness BJ#14
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Think you are glad, to have your cave back. Even if you love it, when son was there....
Cool idea to upcycle the shirts. I do the same with my husbands one.
Love your blanket stripes! So colorfull!
Best wishes for 2023!
Happiness, healthiness, satisfaction and a lot of heartwarming things.

Love the stripy stuff, what gorgeous colours and how happy that will make the buyers of your bags.
Somewhere I have a pattern for making a little tote using a an's shirt - it's using all the pieces, like the cuffs, collar etc.. If I find it I will send it to you - we made it on an away weekend once but sadly i gave my bag away and now I don't have the oomph to make another.
I cannot find the message you sent to me so if I don't find it soon I will just send you a message anyway.
Cannot visualise the blanket so will wait for its reveal before I comment. In the meantime
Happy New Year to you all
Lotsa love, Neet xx 3
Oh I am so intrigued by the strips blankie idea. I could totally do that on my knitting machine and honestly, since Son+Cat took over my sewing/knitting/ironing room using up some of the yarn would be a good thing! And I have that stripy fabric too! It's fab, so bright and cheerful.
HAPPY NEW YEAR and (late) HAPPY WOYWW! May it be a great one for us all.

Hurrah for the Jan cave back and good idea about winging it for 2023. Loving the makes and I know what you mean about the difficulty with the "randomness" of things-i work with a lot of data scientists and it does their heads in when I throw a random suggestion into the mix :-)
Thanks for visiting my desk already and happy 2023
