WOYWW 678!

 SILVER FISH SWIMMING UPSTREAM..

How can it be the 1st June?! It was only yesterday that we were seeing the New Year in.... It's been a fun week, with lovely sunshine and lots of sociable things going on.

My desk has been covered with lots of square bags! I saw a post on Facebook by the Love Sewing magazine asking for simple cross-body bags for mastectomy patients to carry the wound drain bags after their op. It was for a hospital in North Wales and I thought it would be a good project. I had a marvellous time clearing out my stash of odds and ends of old fabrics - the only thing I had to buy were cotton twill tapes for the straps and they were cheap on eBay.

A variety of fabrics to appeal to differing tastes. My mate Kim had gifted me a sarong for craft use ages ago and this made 7 bags:

Fun huh? I hope it brightens up the ward.

Last Saturday was another craft fair in my town and I had a stall to raise funds for the RNLI again:

It was a lovely day, I chatted to loads of people...

And made £175! Woohoo!

The Mens Shed stall was opposite me (G was helping run it) and my eye caught this, I had to have it...

Isn't it fab? Made from driftwood and upcycled drinks cans with pyrography seaweed and bubbles by a lovely chap called Dan - it's now in our kitchen and looking wonderful.

Hope you have a great time over the Jubilee weekend, let's hope the weather stays lovely for the celebrations xxx

Your fundraising is unparalleled! And all so lovely. And again, I am sad my ATC has not foud it's way to you. I almost feel that my local PO lady was being prophetic when she warned me small envelopes go missing in the post all too often. I will keep my fingers crossed it gets there one day. I love the board you have on the wall, displaying them all - my own display keep me inspired every day!
Is Julia sleeping in today or just super busy? :D
Happy late start WOYWW

Oh what a lovely post this is - it just makes my heart sing to see all your wonderful makes. Those bags are wonderful and will be such useful, cheery little bags for those patients who need them. Your RNLI fund raising goes from strength to strength and I love the little fishy hanging - all clever stuff. Happy Jubilee. xx Jo

Ooh, I am envious of your fishy plaque. It is gorgeous, can see why you wanted it.
What a lovely stall you had with all your gorgeous wares on, it is so colourful and full of beautiful things. Bet they are so glad you moved dback down there with your sewing skills (plus everything else). Still think some of your water colours would go down well too.
Love the bags for the mastectomy patients, how good are those with the beach type scene on!
You and Jo (Twiuglet) are wonderful with the things you do for charity.
Hugs, neet 1 xx

You have done a fantastic job with those bags - all so pretty and certain to brighten up anyone's day. I adore the wall hanging - what a wonderful find, it would have definitely made it's way home with me had I been there! Big congratulations on the money you raised for such a good cause. I am hoping your ATC will arrive soon, it's the last one I'm waiting on and I didn't want you to think me rude for not thanking you for it! I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Hope you have a lovely week,
Diana xx #14

Love your driftwood picture. You are so kind to make those bags. It reminded me of a wrap I have at home, if I remember rightly, I bought the material and hemmed it. I hardly ever used it - not enough sunshine and probably the wrong type of fabric. It will be near the end of August, before we get back , but I will try and remember to get it out. Meanwhile can you send me your address please. Happy WOYWW. Angela #2
