ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE.....
Thank goodness for Wednesdays and WOYWW, at least I know what one of the days is each week - and thank goodness for lovely friends who are so supportive with comments and ideas, I think we all get a huge kick from meeting up, sharing the highs and lows.
I've been doing some more sewing to get a few things in stock, a couple of folks enquired about buying some bags, please feel free to ask if you see anything that catches your eye!
I had another delivery from Amothreads as I had used up every single piece of my furnishing fabric - I do try to have a mix that will appeal to a variety of tastes. These all came in two or three metre lengths and I thought it would be fun to show you exactly what I get from 2 sq metres!
Four tote bags on the left, four sets of handles (top centre), 6 squares that I'll make into a doorstop (top right), handle for said doorstop (bottom right), 3 each of mini purses and glasses cases (bottom centre) and all that was left was that teeny tiny pile of scraps in the middle. See, told you I was a scrooge, lol!!
Just plain old totes but they sell well, so why fix what ain't broke?! Everytime I put a ribbon tag on the side, I think of Julia saying I told you so *grin*
Other crafting has taken place - I'm helping to make some Christmas Crafts for our WI fundraising at a local fair and made up some kits for other knitters to do some Christmas pudding covers for Ferrero Rocher choccies, I'm doing other things instead:
Pattern, yarn, felt and beads!
And the town yarnbombing is going to be changed in late November to be Christmassy so off to YouTube I trotted to find a snowflake pattern - I went for a simple pattern at first as I've never made one before and it looks effective in a sparkly white yarn. This one needs blocking though, the points just become more pointy so it's worth doing:
Fun and takes no time at all - I've done a few of these now and feel the need to make something different....back to YouTube again then!

Happy WOYWW. How satisfying to get all those cut out of one piece of fabric. I love a simple tote bag (one of the few things I made that I still use! I have started selling on Redbubble and Zazzle, and it is ridiculously satisfying to use a bag with my design on!). I haven't been watching the news much for a few weeks, so no idea on the details of what Mr Drakeford has been saying. They were talking about the Covid passes in our papercraft group yesterday (I got mine a few weeks ago), so perhaps I will go and Google it now. Ali x #6
Love that snowflake! It's super cute and looks quite do-able. And wowza - that is a lovely lot of goodies to get from 2SqM of fabric. Careful cutting and all that. Well done.

You really do get a lot out of 2 sq.m of fabric - I've just realised I'm quite a wasteful cutter-outer looking at your sets!
The snowflake is gorgeous - I could see a Christmas tree covered in those little beauties - I'm sure they will look spectacular when you re-yarnbomb your town.

You really don't waste an inch of your fabrics do you Jan...I love how you plan and use it all. I'm more of a Pinterest girl when it comes to getting ideas but I have to be honest and say I'm really struggling for ideas for my Christmas cards this year....I've even considered buying them!!!

I wish Boris would become stringent with us. Last night I had a message from a friend (double jabbed and boostered) to say it had got her. Then lo and behold another friend rang, sounded dreadful (wracking cough) to say her, her husband and son, had all been ill for a week. What she described as her symptoms were dreadful. She sounded awful but is much better. Brings it home again even harder when you get calls like that.
You are clever, not a scrooge, far from it - if you were a scrooge you wouldn't buy all this fabric to make goods for charity. Well done, I am proud to call you my friend.
Love your snowflake - I never thought to look up ideas for yarnbombing but I am going to. All I can think of is a string of Christmas pudding pom poms.

Gorgeous fabrics, they always make be yearn for some myself. I can hand sew again without going numb, maybe I ought to try crochet again??? Love the snowflake. I did a simple one when I taught some ladies to crochet years ago but your pattern is much better.
I wouldn't say scrooge, I'd say practical. And the ribbon tag? Is that your trademark? decoration or something else? I'd clip my keys on there. In fact I'd like one on the inside for keys, now I'm waffling... Oh and the kits sound cool too.
Nice to be back at my desk after the trauma of hand surgery, not completely fixed as my wrist is jolly sore and my thumb isn't moving fully yet, could be a few more months but I can do most things again just need to be jolly careful. BJ#15
Great to catch up yesterday and those snowflakes really are awesome. I totally forgot to ask Sally about the bag…so I will, promise. I’m not entirely sure about the little hats for Ferrero Rochers…what happens after you’ve eaten one and would you have to have them ‘in stock’ all the time and what if you put the hats in a safe place for next year and can’t find them again and what if you don’t even like Ferrero Rocher? stress!!! So I’m going to pass on that idea and prolly copy the stars instead! Phew. Speak soon.xxx

Lovely fabric Jan, and an impressive lack of waste! I love your snowflake. Will you spray it with starch or is it firm enough by itself? Some people use hairspray but neither you or I are likely to. The last time I bought some, I thought it was just a brand called “Red” and was a bit startled at the results 🤣.

Wednesday is a so much fun and you're so right it really brightens the week. It's difficult crafting on your own and seeing what everyone else is up encourages me to keep going. All these gorgeous fabrics can't help but make you smile. I fear that too many people have been confused by the governments advice about the Covid problem, it certainly is not over yet. Personally I don't understand why people are against wearing masks as they are a simple thing that can help prevent you catching it and more to the point, passing it on. I collected snowflakes for years, My grandmother gave me a few made from crochet threads and white yarn here can be bought with sparkly threads running thru. Have fun, you are always so creative. So being untidy does have its advantages sometimes, doesn't it! It was amazing, but I used up every single little triangle from cutting down the squares into hexagons - I had exactly the right amount to make that card.
