GOTTA USE IT UP, WEAR IT OUT....

It has been all go in the JanCave this week! I had a call from Laura in the Harbour Lights Cafe saying that the box I'd restocked two weeks ago was virtually empty again, people have been buying for Christmas apparently!

Here's the new delivery of fabrics from Amothreads that deal in deadstock and end of line stuff, I got two metres of each - they turned up on Saturday and by Monday all that was left of the butterfly on the left was:

Generous in life, tight with fabric, lol!

Laura said that people had been buying matching things so I decided to do the new style tote, glasses cases and mini purses in the same fabric.

Popper time!

These new totes are much quicker to make up and they're neater to present in the basket too! I have more to make today to take down to the cafe tomorrow.

But it's not all been work! G and I decided to go to Aberglasney Gardens, about 25 miles from us - they were restored from a terrible state (bit like the Lost Gardens of Heligan) and were founded in Tudor times. It's not massive but is full of interest so G and I got a year's membership to see it through the seasons.

There was huge amounts of colour even late in Sept - too many pics to share here but here are a couple to make you smile:

The blue of the Gentians was so gorgeous....

There were some very interesting shaped squashes and gourds being grown up the arches in the kitchen garden!

This makes me smile for all sorts of reasons, the 'face' of the one far left and the others lined up as if waiting for a bus. G got some funny looks when he was taking this one, lol!

But the Award for Most Appropriately Placed Sign goes to:

You've got to make sure your privates are air dried!! *snigger* I can only apologise for our decidedly weird sense of humour..

Have a great week everyone!

I think your week numbers are out... what a gorgeous pile of fabric - can see why the butterflies didn't last long! Love the photos from the gardens, what a gorgeous place it looks. G has a quirky sense of humour with his photos (I like that!) Happy WOYWW Helen #2

I think you deserved a break at Aberglasny, it looks wonderful. Absolutely love the clear and precise colour changing on the squashes, you couldn’t draw a straighter line! Great photography again, the wheelbarrows look great, funny how the people who use them everyday as a tool don’t see their photogenicnessness. I’d have walked right past the welly trousers! What a great find!! Meanwhile, so true about your generosity in life, that fabric has no chance! Interesting to have note that matching things are popular. I can’t go that way, too organised and tidy!!

Hi Jan, Loving the fabrics. Great idea to make related things in the same fabrics. They certainly would make great christmas presents.

Talking of making matching things why not do some masks with matching pouches, we love the way we keep our masks in pouches. The easy masks, of course, not the fancy ones which you made for G.
Love the fabrics you used.
You certainly needed a treat with all that sewing and poppering and the gardens look like the perfect place for a chill day out. Love the gourds.
Have a lovely week.
Hugs, Neet 5 xx

Ah love your off cut fabrics Jan, isn’t it grand to be able to buy things like that, and then make for such a good cause too, the new array look really great, well done.

Loved your outing photos it does look a lovely garden, for all seasons!
… and your sense of humour was funny, I can’t help but winder if the person laying out and drying the outer garments etc wasn’t thinking the same thing, as they were thus placed.🤔😉 G.s eye for the unusual is excellent.

Thanks for Sharing, God bless and keep you safe, and all those you love, prayer hugs Shaz in Oz.x

You gotta feel smug about your makes being so much in demand! No wonder, either! I bet those new ones will not hang around longer than a few days. The butterfly fabric is just gorgeous! That looks like a place I would very much enjoy visiting! Will put it on our list! Have a lovely week, Jan! xx zsuzsa #21

What a fun post, Jan! I fully identify with the wacky sense of humour - those things would have taken my fancy too! (Remember my recent one - the Drivel driving school?!) That looked a lovely place to visit and it's so nice that they have restored the gardens. Your latest batch of fabrics are absolutely gorgeous, and my goodness what a busy bee you've been. I love the idea of the matching items. There certainly seems to be a healthy demand for all your goodies, doesn't there. Thanks for putting a smile on my face!

Thank you for your visit, and I'm glad you approve of all my organising! I started to reap the benefits this afternoon while I was making a card. It was fun picking out the various baggies and deciding what to put on it. I hope by next week to have cut some of the lattices.

Happy WOYWW,

{snigger} indeed! I always love your sewing shares so much and that fabric is fab (and I am not really one who goes potty over butterflies - I like them OK but I don't swoon, IYKWIM ) and not at all surpiesed there is so little left!

Happy WOYWW, late again

Hardly surprising that your makes get snapped up, as someone lucky enough to have a small popper pouch they are brilliantly made and like you say people are probably buying a "set" as perfect for christmas. Loving the fabric on the left, really nice design.

As to those gardens, wow lovely and yep, think I would have taken those black and white photos too ;-)

Ooh I can totally see that people buying them as gift sets that is so smart and lucky you had enough of the fabrics to do that Jan. I chuckled out loud at the random thoughts you had about air drying privates too. ~Stacy #26

Oh gosh so late this week (eeek last week) don't think I've had the PC on since Wednesday's link up.

Loving your new fabrics and made up items. Your popper pot is a delight too. I certainly get it with the photos, great job.

Hand and wrist still sore seeing the consultant this evening for my dressing off proper, hoping it's all OK, although still not using it much.

We'll see. BJ#10

Happy Very Belated WOYWW. Catching up on some blog commenting this morning. Aberglasney. Love it there. We finally went there last year (after driving past so many times on our way to more distant places). Haven't been back yet, but I keep seeing their wonderful photos on Instagram, so the next dry day I will make sure that Rich takes some time away from the farm. The shop and the cafe are both worth a visit by themselves. Ali x
