YOU CAN GO YOUR OWN WAY.....

Thanks for all the lovely comments last week, many of you enquired about the mask pattern I used so here's the link. The tutorial is in Spanish but it's obvious what's happening and the lady shows how to do templates for three sizes. If you want to search for other tutorials, then look for 3D masks.

I'd been trying to think of something different to put in the RNLI box in the cafe, it's tricky because I didn't want high value stuff in there because the odd thing does go missing. In the end I found another tote bag pattern but one that folds up into its own pocket (a bit like those cagoules we used to have when we were younger - are they even around these days?)

So that's what I was doing in a quiet five minutes! I made one but didn't like a couple of things about it so went off piste (quelle surprise!)

It's makes for a decent size bag (with pocket!) that folds up into this:

We'll see how they go, got to make a few more first!

I got all the watercolour trials I've been doing and thought I'd make them into thank you cards or something.

Neet, I tried your idea with the white Posca pen and it did the trick. I'm also the proud owner of one pot of Stickles sparkly glue and have used that to gussy up the snow scene.  Talking of watercolours, I got a couple of cheap frames from The Range and put a couple of my paintings in them:

I'm quite pleased with this one! I've never framed any of my work before.

This isn't as successful, needs a darker mount possibly?

G has been enjoying The Shed and Beyond - as well as scrubbing Amelia's bottom (as featured last week) they took part in the International Day festival organised by our Town Council. The group decided to make Welsh cakes, but with a twist - so G and I made Mexican (Choc and chili) and Jamaican (coconut and tropical fruits)  They went down a storm - I'd feared we'd have been drummed out of Wales for desecrating tradition, lol!! They weren't the weirdest though, one of the guys did a Full English Breakfast version......

All gents of a certain age but with a wealth of experience! They can bodge with the best of them. The Town Clock is next apparently :-D

Have a great week and keeeeeeep crafting! xxxxxxxxx

Your watercolours are amazing! How impressive it is you have progressed so QUICKLY. I am in awe. Oh and on the masks? I love these (or any version of them) https://tinyurl.com/yurnz3ha and stick them inside the mask with a daub of hot glue (not adding any holes in the fabric LOL!) They really make breathing much easier. Have a look - they come in multiple sizes too!

Happy WOYWW, on the day, for a change!

I love fold up bags, so handy! I have a string one that lives in the bottom of my sashiko bag. Your paintings ar great. How about a blue mount for the second one? With schools going back, how about pencil cases?
I’m impressed with Gordon m’s group making Mexican Welshcakes! Brian is very traditional- at most he’ll put almonds mine. Are they really going to make the Town clock out of Welshcakes? 🤣.
Take care and happy WOYWW!

Like the idea of the fold up bag Jan and well done on trying something new. I’m going to try the mask as sadly I will be wearing mine for some time yet. Happy sewing.

Happy WOYWW. I love the bag. Just the sort of thing I have, and also give as gifts. When I eventually come and visit you, we must go down to the RNLI shop so I can see your creations in their natural habitat! Your watercolours are amazing!! You should sell them. I can see them in the craft shops in either Cardigan or Narberth. They would also be wonderful on greeting cards, scanned in and then printed. We have a Mens Shed group locally and I did join in with their knitting group (ladies are welcome too - in fact the knitting group was just ladies sadly). However, time pressures meant I haven't been before Lockdown (and I am rubbish at knitting). Ali x #10

Your framed pics are lovely Jan -and the little experiments will make beautiful cards. Mine still sits on my mantlepiece. Well done to G and his group - who doesn't need a group of men with a wealth of experience?! Could you please link me up to Julia today - Annie isn't posting this week. Thanks Jan. xx Jo

I love your paintings - yes, possibly a darker frame for the second one, but wow, it's beautiful. G seems to be getting hooked on The Shed, and the Welch cakes sound fabulous. Have a great week. Helen #4

Hi Jan. Those bags are great idea. I have several- some gifted. Sadly all shop bought useful. The paintings are gorgeous. Clever you. Anne x 17

Wow Jan, your paintings are gorgeous - I think they look stunning framed and I don't think the second one needs a darker frame as it's so light and summery, but what I would do is hang the darker framed one on the wall for autumn and then change over to the white framed one for spring and summer. I know it sounds odd but I do that a lot - I love changing the feel of the house to match the seasons!
I was grappling with toothache last week so missed seeing all about the Shed and Beyond, just had to pop back to your previous post and catch up - what a great idea that is and how interesting about Amelia's bottom! The Welsh cakes sound delicious although I'm not sure about the Full English!
Hope you have a great week,
Hugs, Diana xx #15

I twitched a bit when you mentioned the Welsh Cakes . . . . but then the Jamaican ones sounded good!
I just love the idea of the Shed, much more life and laughs going on outside!!
Well done guys!
Enjoy your week

hi Jan - so glad the Posca pen ideka worked - not my original, it's a stamper's thing. Another way is to use one of those fan brushes with some paint on and tap that over the top. I find the Posca so easy though I go with it all the time. My words we are getting into papercrafting in a big way with buying Stickles. I love the stuff at Christmas. Not a glitter fan any other time of the year but boy do I use it at Christmas.
Am absolutely delighted that you framed a couple of your paintings. I told you ages ago they would look good and I still think some of your others would be great sellers at the RNLI shop. You need some mounts for them and a cellophane bag with a price ticket on.
Saying that I love your fold up bag. I have a couple, one in the car door gets used all the time but my bee one is so pretty all folded up that it has never been used as yet. Well done you, I bet you bring most of the revenue in to the RNLI shop than anyone else.
I'd pick out one of the colours from the flowers (blue, pink, lilac) and put a mount in the frame if you really feel it needs something but I quite like it as is.
Good to see the gents who enjoyed scrubbing Angela's bottom. Mexican Welsh cakes sound delicious.

Oh my Dear! What a wonderful blog! Full of creativity!
Can't stop to have a look what you did!
Those bags - oh my goodness, the are so well thought through. With the tiny pocket. So the bag can be transported in the handbag. Oh I will try this as soon as possible. Maybe I find a pattern on pinterest.
(Thank you for the mask - link!!)
You did it well to frame your watercolor paintings.
They really deserve that.
To understand what G has done, it takes me a little longer to translate.
Have a great week too,
Eva from Austria

Oh what nice drawings!
The frame is okay, I think, but it depends on whether it should hang on a white wall or on the wallpaper. :)

I inherited a sewing machine from my mother-in-law and am installing a small sewing corner at home. Hope I can sew a mask and a simple pillow or bag. I think it's hard to sew.

You are good!
Have a nice weekend and thank you for visiting my blog.

The foldy up totes are soo useful, and also not nearly so in your face as the flowers and snowmen type that helpful types buy you. I think your water colourings are fab, and I’m delighted that you’re taking yourself a little bit seriously enough to frame and keep a couple, they really are lovely. I’m running so late this week, sorry.xxx
