YOU GOTTA GET RIGHT BACK TO WHERE YOU STARTED FROM...

It's Wednesday again (sung to It's Raining Again by Supertramp!) and another week has whooshed by. For those of you who have been wondering about Shaz Silverwolf, her hubby Doug has put a post on Shaz' blog explaining how poorly she is. I know those on FB have been getting updates but this is for the rest of the deskers. Here is the post. I hope you feel better after the treatment Shaz, we're all rooting for you xxxx

Not that much crafting has been going on, the weather has covered all types, snow, gales, rain, ice and not much sun.

When the weather is like this there seems to be lots of indoor jobs to be done, funny that......!

I bought some jersey to make a top and am just looking at what patterns I have to see which style I'd like to do (ie the easiest and less stressful, lol!!)

I love the fabric, a zingy lime green snake skin print from Fabricland. I'm just at the 'thinking about it' stage at the moment.

Another HAG tutorial from Youtube - Emma LeFebvre, not brilliant but I enjoyed doing it.

But the main focus of attention has been on sorting out the family photos - it is taking a lot of time but hey, that's one thing we have in abundance recently!
Stage one was taking all the pics out of the tatty albums, sorting them out and putting in others. I've completed all the holiday pics and have started on the marathon that is the kids' pics. Oh there's been some jewels uncovered though...
Here is Lynne (of Lynnecrafts fame), me, Gordon and Brian, taken a few years ago when we lived in the NorthEast. We've been friends for nearly 40 years and she still puts up with me, lol!!

And here's a shot from the days when I worked in television (I was a Vision Mixer for Tyne Tees TV) It's 1988 and I was in VTR and not the gallery for some reason:
I loved my big hair! It was worth spending four hours having it permed in the hairdressers, so 80s - my hair is as straight as a ruler normally.

Hope you've had a good week and are keeping safe and well. The UK is doing an amazing job getting the vaccines out, I'm hoping it's the silver lining we all meed.

xxxxx

Lots of interesting nuggests on your post today Jan. When my brother-in-law retired from the BBC he was working as a vision mixer on Eastenders having started as a cameraman with a stint in lighting. It sounds like an interesting job. Look forward to seeing the finished top. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #?

Hi Jan, Thanks for sharing about Shaz. I have left a message on the link.

Weather has been chaneable to say the least. I'm glad the slippy pavements have gone, for now anyway.

Interested to see what you make with the fabric.

Your painting is lovely.

So many lovely photos. I bet you stop and remember when each was taken.

Lovely to still be in touch with your friend.

Have a happy WOYWW. Sue

Good morning Jan, Enjoyed your fun photos. Love your hair in those early years! I had a short wig that color for when I traveled for work, long story.
Thanks for the Youtube for watercolor, it's was a good one and I'll watch more, it is something I love and want to learn about. Our area has had some great winter weather. All around 11 inches of snow, and 1 or 2 each week. We've had 2 all year, no winds so I have been able to walk. I love the hoodie I got for winter, it keeps the cold from my face and the fresh air is good for me.
We've been healthy, don't do a lot, but we do go out at least once a week. Enjoy each day Stay Safe Thanks for the update on Shaz.

OMG! I love your blast from the past photos! So much fun. As ever, your sewing skills are legend so I'm sure the top will be a stunna. If anyone can pull off a lime-green snakeskin print, it'll be you!

Sad to hear Shaz is having such a rough time of it. Glad you and Julia posted a link - since I am very much NOT a FB person I wondered, I worried, but did not know. Now I do and could add my well wishes to be passed on to her.

Morning Jan. Have fun with the thinking stage of the sewing! I'm sure it won't take you long to do it once your mind is made up. Another lovely painting - you are obviously enjoying it all. Great photos!!! And such hair. I never needed a perm 'cos mine looked even bigger when I was younger - used to be called Moses' burning bush!!!
Take care. God bless.

Good morning Jan
Nice to see your old photos, doesn’t it take an age to do. All the oohing and aahing over the memories. See your hair that you spent hours having done ? Well think of a wild version of that and you’ve captured me now during lockdown. My usual weekly blow dry by my hairdresser friend has gone for a burton again with lockdown. I haven’t a clue who the mad haired woman is in the mirror looking back at me.
Looking forward to seeing how the new top turns out.

Good luck with making the new top...I will be looking forward to seeing you wearing it :-) I love watching the snow falling from in the warmth of the house....really don't like to be out in it though.
Stay warm and safe my friend.

Still chuckling about our permed hair similarity! I must see if I can find a photo. Good luck with the top - as grandma always said "measure twice - cut once" lol. xx Jo

Loving the watercolour and and your lovely set of pan w/c. Sorting photos is my downfall, if there not already scrapped I am sure one day I will just put the lot in the fire. Cannot cope with the volume. Love the hair and what an interesting career you must have had. Trying to quietly slip back into WOYWW as I haven't gone AWOL for 6 months (:O

I wish I had photos of me in the 80s too - I think we could have swapped heads and nobody would have noticed! That fabric is something else! I can't wait to see you wearing it - very striking. I absolutely love your watercolour floral heart, and thanks for including the name of the tutorial - youtube is fab but it's hard to know where to start looking and Miss Be and I are loving our weekend art sessions. Stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #2

Hi Jan!
The weather in Austria is like yours in England. One day snow, then one day rain or warm like in springtime!
I'm afraid to sew with Jersey! And I'm curious what your top looks like.
Your painting - so lovely! Is it for Hubby on Valentins Day?
Oh - all the lovely memories of the 80s! It's like a big treasure!
And Wow!! Your Hair - looks so pretty!
Wish you a good week - our hairdressers can open the shops on the 8th of February. But we need a test.
Stay well
Eva from Austria

Oh yummy lime green. Always find jersey difficult to sew myself. Oh so love the old photos, I did the big hair in the 80's too LOL. Your painting is brill - still not got mine out yet but I did scrapbook the Mumbles Pier Arcade photo. BJ#25

Weather hasn't been much good here - just wet, and grey, with the odd sliver of sunshine if you happen to look out the window at the right time. I can't get anyone (well, let's be honest, Hubby) interested in doing jobs about the house. I changed the sheets yesterday and noticed that the paint pot by his side of the bed that was to touch up where the new shutters went in (late 2019?) is still there along with a set of small wooden shelves still in their wrapping. Touch up is not done. I refuse to nag but even by my standards that's a bit lax!! I used to have big hair in the day, and then used to henna it too!! I also used to have a skinny waist but we won't go there.... Really admire you for getting on top of the photos, perhaps that's something he and I could do together... Happy WOYWW, stay well, stay safe, love n hugs Cindyxx #19

Your watercolour is gorgeous - maybe an idea for a Valentines card, perhaps? I'm thinking of making one for the Hubs this year but not expecting one back as I'm in charge of the internet shopping! I love the fabric you chose for your top - one thing I've never managed to figure out is how to sew stretchy fabric!
Looks like you are doing a great job with the photos, a perfect lock down job isn't it!
Hope you have a good week, stay safe and well,

I think most of my perms were 'home perms' although 'our Angie' (cousin) probably did some when she was a hairdresser. I do remember, however, when I was about seven or eight having a 'wireless perm', at least my memory says that is what it was called. It was to set my hair in ringlets for a wedding where I was a bridesmaid.
Love that photo of you with the 'big hair' but it's not as big as some of the bouffants I used to do when `I did a Friday night job in a local hairdressers in my late teens. Gosh those 'beehives' certainly took some back combing. Must have been bad for your hair!
Well, I for one love your watercolour, I think you have made a very good job of it and would be proud of it had I done it. Don't be so critical of your work, it is lovely.
Worrying to hear about Shaz via FB but with the prayers I just hope she improves quickly.
Take care down in Wales

There's always things to do indoors but I'd sooner be crafting Lol! The weather here has been up and down and when we went to my mum's yesterday we got half way there and the place was thick with snow though it is always cooler in South Yorkshire than Lincoln even though it's only an hour's drive away. Loving the fabric too. Take care and have a lovely woyww, Angela x16x

Love your “blasts from the past”! Ohh, love your hair too! Mine is and always been the straight as a stick variety too. Never had much luck with a perm though as it fried and burned off more than it curled! A losing battle, for sure!

Keep up the watercoloring. So fun and soul satisfying.

Stay safe. We are eligible to get our Covid shots but no appointments available so far.

Happy Wednesday

The green snaky fabric is fun, Jan! Being jersey it's probably a bit of a pain to sew, though. Look forward to seeing it completed. Lovely to see the old photos of you! I had my hair permed for quite a few years and loved it, but have decided to let it grow really long again, like when we were first married - my hubby is really pleased with my decision. It's got a lot thicker again recently, as a result of going whole-food plant-based - a side effect I certainly wasn't expecting!

I love your latest watercolour - the flowers in the heart shape would make a beautiful Valentine's card.

Thank you for your visit. It's really funny how the same pattern can come out so differently, isn't it! I used to make rag dolls and even though I followed exactly the same design, the faces all came out different, and they had different personalities! There will be a lot more cat faces on the throw but they will be appliquéd ones, much quicker and easier to do. They will all require embroidery too. There's a lock on the flat bedroom door so I will be able to keep my hubby out - even if I've told him not to go in there, he probably would in an absent-minded moment! I've had this trouble with him going in my studio at inopportune moments too and have had to be vigilant about covering everything up!

Happy WOYWW,

Hi Jan, that fabric is so not black! It's the kind of colour that cheers up the dullest of days and I can't help thinking how well it would have looked with the gorgeous red hair seen in your old snaps. I thoroughly enjoyed our phone chat on Monday - cheered me up no end. Have a fab week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #29

Lots of fun stuff to look at this week! Cannot wait to see what you do with the Jersey fabric.

Your painting is quite nice. Good luck with sorting your family photos. I guess now is the perfect time to do something like that...a daily trip down memory lane.

It appears the UK is doing a fabulous job. I guess most countries (other than mine) are doing a good job.
Here in America, they are doing a good job of getting the vaccine into the arms of the people they care about saving...but then that is our history!

Hi Jan, don’t you look lovely with your permed hair. I used to have permed hair in those days, not as long as you. Your watercolour is very pretty, but I am not sure what HAG means though. Have a great week Angela #17

I could have sworn I'd already commented on your blog but here goes again!

The thought of sorting out all those pics! Endless task round here. But some true gems of you, the curly hair so suited you!

I had a look at my page views vs comments, after your comment yesterday, and there's at least one occasion where I've had more views than there were participants in the hop, so yes, I guess we are reaching further afield!

Jan, you're killing me with the 80's photos! LOLOL Mine look exactly like yours!! My hair was down to my waist (and continued to be until last year) and I had it permed every year! It took FOREVER to perm my hair! LOL But, as you said, worth it! Also, love that you and Lynne are 40 years strong! Hard to find friends like that! I follow Emma LeFebvre as well and have done some of her tutorials. I love her style! I think your's looks FABULOUS!!! Hope you are staying safe and healthy and love your snow photo! Would love to have that here! Blessings Felicia #28
