GOTTA GET UP AND TRY, TRY, TRY

Today's lyric was written by Pink which I found when I searched for a song with Try in the lyrics - it resonated with me in my attempts to DIB (Do It Badly)  Annie C came up with an excellent alternative last week - HAG!! Standing for Have A Go, same idea but with a more positive slant. And as one of my all time heroines is Nanny Ogg from the Terry Pratchett novels, an all time champion hag in all senses of the word (mistress of growing old disgracefully), I think that I shall HAG rather than DIB in future, thanks Annie!

Here are some little juggling balls I made to fit in the blue fabric box shown last week - they're a present for my great nephew who turned one yesterday. I thought he could hold/chuck/throw them in and out of the box, they can stack and can be thrown in the washing machine, sounds like a good prezzy to me, lol!

I had to have a bit of a splurge as some craft stocks were running very low (no, really!) so I spent a Christmas voucher online, ooooh lovely :-D

These were all 3 for 2 at Hobbycraft - all for blankets.

And some new art materials, the paints are metallic which you can't really tell from here!

The dining room 'desk', I've really enjoyed just mucking around with different tutorials on YouTube, the latest I found was a whole series by Peter Sheeler, who has a more illustrative style that appeals to me.

It's like line and wash more than free watercolours - not great but....HAG!!

Again, more try-outs, I took this to show you the lovely metallicy tones of the paints but it's hard to get sparkle and sheen to show in photos....

Ah, there you go, that's a bit better - they really are lovely to work with and will add great highlights when needed!

Hope you're all having fun with whatever crafting you're doing, here's to all the lovely HAGs out there!! xxxxxxxx

Hi Jan, Loving the colours of the wool. The bean bags for your nephew are perfect.

Your paintings are beautiful. You could do small paintings and use them on cards.

Hope you have a good WOYWW.

Stay safe. Sue

Ooh Jan, your paintings are gorgeous - I'd definitely pop the daisies one in a little frame and hang it by a vase of fresh flowers in the spring - it's beautiful. I have those metallic paints too and they really are full on shiny aren't they, and a lovely quality. Your little juggling balls are lovely and a great idea for a gift.
Hope you have a good week and stay safe and well,
Hugs, Diana xx

Happy WOYWW and WOW!! Your illustrations are just glorious. Just my style, and the metallic paints work so well for them. You definitely need to scan those in and use them for card designs. I need to look for those YouTube videos and add them to my long 'Watch Later' list. I love looking at what other people have been buying, as I am on #nospendjanuary (and actually looking at my budget it will be April before I can afford to give myself some spending money). I did treat myself to a very limited edition scrapbooking kit this week, as it was selling out almost immediately - but proud to say that I haven't bought anything else. Ali x #26

Hi Jan, HAG sounds good to me. I used to tell my pupils when I was teaching "Just have a go, you never know where it might take you" there were always some that were a bit nervous with something new. I used to go round the bins before I went home and pull out art/textiles work that they'd put in there because they thought it wasn't good enough when in fact it was brilliant. I think there is a stage when children start to become young adults and then they loose some of their confidence for a while. The line and wash technique has always been one of my favourites and these are lovely. The new stash looks great too. Take care and have a lovely creative woyww, Angela x14x

Jan, boy you have a LOT going on today!! I LOVE DIB & HAG!! But YES, HAG, let's be positive and stay positive! Sometimes it's hard to do when we are crafting, but onward we go! LOL Love your new goodies and have wanted to try the Arteza journals myself. Let us know how they get on for you! And metallics, yes indeed! All about them! I love Peter Sheeler and enjoy his art style as well! LOVE your daisies, so, so pretty Jan!! And love how those metallics look on the flowers as well. I know it's so frustrating when our photos don't show our work as they should! We know their worth, so, enough said! LOL Happy crafting Jan and stay safe and healthy! :) Felicia #27

Hi Jan, ooh all these acronyms - I'll have to think of one for me. Till then, I'll be a HAG lol. Gorgeous present for your great nephew, I'm sure he will have many happy hours of fun playing with them. Nice shopping spree on the yarns and the artist stash. The metallic paints do look lovely. The flowers pictures are super - you certainly have a talent my dear! Thanks for stopping by earlier - I will check out the Clover pom pom maker. I have vague memories of using a cardboard ring in the dim and distant past. Have a lovely week, Heather xx 28

Oh Jan, those juggling balls are so much fun! I love the colours, and the shape reminds me of humbugs or pyramid tea bags. I can't believe just how good you are at watercoloouring - absolutely stunning work. Is this girl multi-talented, or what? Lots of nice yarns to play with, too.

Thank you for visiting - I can't wait to get the squares finished so I can block them and join them up. I can't decide whether to add the appliqué kitties first or not, but my main problem is how to keep the project secret from my hubby once it becomes more interesting. At the moment he just sees me crocheting away and isn't taking too much interest. Thank you for your kind words about my design abilities!

Happy WOYWW,

I think I must have forgotten to press the send button on this WOYWW! I remember trying to follow for about the last two or so weeks coz your paintings are fabulous! The metallic tones are fabulous and if I do any line and wash, the black ink gets messy! I've been thinking about getting some Micron pens as some guy doing that Octomerink thing uses them on his drawing pages and they look fantastic! Have a great crafting week! happy WOYWW!?
