RED AND YELLOW AND PINK AND GREEN,

ORANGE AND PURPLE AND BLUE.....

Well, I've had a lovely week! It was grand having Owen back, we chatted and walked a lot, played games from Cribbage to Newmarket, ping pong and had movie nights. Time well spent!  Needless to say, not a lot of crafting was done (though I did have a quick emergency run down to the cafe with more masks)

Therefore there is no shot of the JanCave desk today, but that's not to say that nothing has been done!

Do you remember the tangled skeins of floss from last week? Some clever deskers mentioned winding them onto cardboard, so Owen and I set to.

Firstly we laid them all out in a rough colour order and sorted which had two skeins... it was a very sociable couple of hours, the weather started to chuck it down (though it looks sunny in this pic, it didn't last!)

Owen proved to be a whizz at untangling knots!  Before we knew it, a couple of chatty hours had zipped by and....voila!

All neat and tidy - I LOVE it!! Easier to see what colours you want and stopped things knotting together. Great suggestion, why didn't I think of it myself?? Doh.......

And it's easier to pick what colours I want for my cross stitch as (no surprise here) I'm doing my own thing........
That's a lovely orange colour, can you tell what I'm doing next?!

We were lucky in that only one day out of the week was really bad, so we did a lot of walking:
This is the beach in my home town, the harbour is back over our shoulder. I'm feeling very short these days.....

And then we walked on the next beach west of town...
Owen did this panorama on his phone.

And went to have a look at the wreck:
This was a three masted sailing ship that left Newfoundland in 1920 carrying wood. Sometimes the sand gets eroded out and you can see the keel but it was filled up when we were there. The sandbanks out in the bay are quite deceiving and there are many many ships that got caught out.

Right that's it, hopefully you'll see a bit more crafting next week. By the way, have you noticed the week number? I reckon that WOYWW 600 will be on 2nd December.....it's got to be a candidate for the longest running blog surely?

Have fun and keep safe and well xxxxxx

Hummm let’s think.... the Great Pumpkin maybe? No, probably not. Such scenes this week, I envy you. And help with floss winding? Amazing. Lucky you to have your sons close by (weeps softy, missing mine) and such fun. I used to love cribbage but expect I have forgotten all the rules. Oh well. If you wander by, note the mask with the little frame inside - it really helps breathing, but only certain high nosed masks work to house it. Probably not useful for mask emergencies and massive output, but as a one off for anyone who struggles, they are helpful.
Happy Woyww!

I never think of G being small but you two look outflanked by your boys. they must be 'big lads'!
How lovely to have Owen help you sort out your embroidery threads and what a lovely look you have now in that basket - ideal for choosing the correct shade/colour. Which brings me to say I have not a clue what the orange is for - an it be a sun?
Thanks for the photos of the beaches.
Hugs, Neet 8 xx

That basket looks like it could have been taken right out of my MIL's, she has baskets and boxes of embroidery thread. I never understood why skeins are as they come, they knot and tangle just looking at them. The certainly look alot prettier when wound. Nice little helper. Your cross stitch looks very homey.
Wishing you well this WoywW & keep creative Hugs Tracey #7 xx

Ah - such a lovely post Jan - so glad you had a great time with your lovely boys - how do they get to be so tall - one minute they are running round YOUR legs and the next minute you are running round theirs! Happy days! xx Jo

Morning Jan. What a fabulous time!!! Well done to the lot of you - they really are incredibly tall, aren't they - obviously well fed on Farleys Rusks when tiny!! Good growing food... Don't those threads look so inviting... now you can stitch to your heart's content, knowing how easily you can change colours, think about colour... and you just LOVE colour. Brilliant.
Thanks for visiting - yes, a great, crazy, fun day out filled with laughter and delight in one another's company. Just what I had hoped for. And now, back into local lockdown from tomorrow evening. I don't know how many people live in the Conwy borough, but the number of infections last night was 42... seems a bit of a sledgehammer. However, must do as I am told. Difficult, as I am currently looking after someone else's home while they are away...
Take care. God bless.

Hi Jan, what a great photo of you all! In height those boys sure are Williams’s but Owen in face is the spit of Gordon.

I can just picture you and Owen having a good chat over the threads. Well done O for being a thread untangling wizard! That man is a treasure.
I wanted to say autumn leaves for your lovely orange but I think the position is more sun.
Have a lovely week and stay safe, all

Well done for untangling all that thread - sounds like the perfect job to "rope" Owen into - see what I did there? I love your beach shots! I wish we lived nearer the sea - we couldn't be further away from beaches than we are now! Love your little cross-stitch house too - so cute! Happy #591, Jan xx zsuzsa #21

Hiya Jan, blimey, hasn't Rhys got tall! Lovely shot of the four of you, and seems that the weather made no difference to you all having a fab week together. Great job on the skeins, I did similar with the ribbon I have, much better than the tangled mess they used to be. Love & hugs to you all, Shaz #6 XxXxxX

Glad I'm not the only one with no crafting show this week! How great to have some family time. I've never understood why they they do embroidery floss in those skeins when they actually sell little cards to put them on. I'm sure all that tidiness gives you a warm fuzzy feeling!! Great beach pics, we were at Camber last week and similar - big skies and endless sand! (And lots of wind and rain). 2nd December is a my birthday, so a double celebration that day!! Stay well, stay safe, Cindy #22

Happy WOYWW and thank you for your earlier visit. Yes, sadly Buzz went over Rainbow Bridge late on Tuesday 22nd. He suddenly started getting sick in the afternoon and went downhill rapidly in the evening. We owed it to him to end his suffering, as there was nothing the vet could do long-term. I still often think that I need to be taking him outside, or see a nice footpath and say that "we should come back with Buzz". It is difficult to adjust after 25 years of having at least one dog in the house (and I had dogs earlier in my life too). I have been asked to care for a pair of rescue guinea pigs (used to run the South West Wales Guinea Pig Rescue) and tempted. They would be good company in my craft room. Wonderful photos of the beaches. The main problem with a lot of the beaches around here are the steep steps or pebble banks, which I cannot tackle anymore. Ali x #8

Jan what a treat to see your family and some lovely beach scenes. It is time well spent indeed. I love playing board games. I think I will have to break out one this week to play with my husband. Wow! I love seeing all the thread so neat and tidy on their one cardboard. Having that basket out with them all tidy like that makes me want to try. I might have to learn how to do it because it looks so pretty. I am going to guess you are going to create the sun with that gorgeous orange thread. Have a lovely day! We are experiencing some crazy weather here today. High winds and rain.

Back for a proper visit now, Jan, after my sneak visit last night in the small hours! Your threads are now super organised. You are right - I am a happy rummager! Looking at my muddle of threads beside one of the tiny carpets, the thought "order from chaos" springs to mind! Thanks for visiting, and I'm glad you're enjoying witnessing the progress of the project. Lovely seaside pics on your blog today. I adore the sea.

Happy WOYWW,

Hi Jan, ah - I love a good family photo, one to treasure. The other photos are great too, and brilliant you set Owen to work on the threads! If I show Mr M your beach pics, he'll be wanting to visit and take about a thousand photos - good job it's all digital these days! I also have no desk to show - been busy with other things. Thanks for stopping by - I thought I was leaving plenty of time for my wedding outfit, especially as I only bought my own wedding dress about a week before my wedding lol. The flu jab went fine. In and out in 5 minutes. Have a lovely week, Heather xx #17

Sorry I'm so late with my visits this week. I went with my hubby yesterday doing deliveries for our daughter and her hubby's printing business to London....a long day but always lovely to spend the time together.
Never mind the crafting Jan...what lovely photos. Family together times are so valuable aren't they?....why is it that the children are always so much taller than their parents these days?

Lovely tidy threads! I bought a magazine today that showed how to make pencil cases that looked like glass cases (single button ,flip over top on narrow side). I just mentioned it because I know you make glass cases for charity and I thought pencil cases might sell as well. Hope I have the right person! Angela #29 on Wednesday 14 th October xx.
