WOYWW 547

I'M LATE, I'M LATE FOR A VERY IMPORTANT DATE....

Well, I thought I'd finished making everything for the WI/RNLI stalls at the fair which is this Friday and then someone turns up with 48 more Ferrero Rocher to knit covers for!!! (This person doesn't knit so has no concept of the time it takes, I think)  I put the call out for helpers and thankfully someone stepped in - bless them!

More little Santa hats (sorry to those folks who've already seen these on FB)

I fancied doing something different and had seen painted wood on Pinterest. My friend's husband obliged with a few slices, the old acrylic paints were dug out and the cobwebs blown off!

I have to say that I really enjoyed doing some painting again!

I put some Stickles highlights on, screwed a little brass cuphook into the top and used some of Sue Dyer's ribbons that she sent me.

Thanks for this Happy Mail Sue, it made my day getting this and it'll definitely be used!

It's been a busy week apart from crafting. I went to the Royal Welsh Winter Fair with my friend Helen, we had a Grand Day Out and enjoyed criticising the judging in the homecraft section, lol! There was lots to see and I admired some of the amazing patchwork and quilting, some folks have soooo much patience:
All different and all gorgeous!

This tripych was the worthy winner, I spent a long time looking at all the details, stitching, bead highlights etc etc.

My band is being filmed at the moment for an hour long programme (6pm Christmas Eve on S4C!) and the camera crews have been in action this week. They were there to record our rehearsal, it was very different for sure, we were far more well behaved for starters!

Cameras were everywhere! The focus is on the people who have been with the band for ages and who are first language Welsh speakers - the programme is about how groups in rural Wales have their Christmas traditions. Watch this space, lol! (I shall mostly be hiding behind my tuba....)

And finally, we did a bit of Christmas shopping yesterday and this was the window display of a secondhand bookshop:

I wonder how long it took them to create it? That's a lot of books! It really looked like a Christmas tree, my pic doesn't do it justice.

Hope you have a good week!

Hi Jan, Glad you got help with the knitting.

The tree decorations are fab. Glad the ribbon I sent came in handy.

So much beautiful work at the Fair.

Don't think I can get that TV channel. Hope the filming goes well.

That book Christmas tree is fab.

Love the wood slices. I laughed at the book Christmas tree as they looked like old Readers Digest books or which we had hundreds when in UK. Good luck with the filming, the Dames in Spain hosted the Christmas BBC Gardeners question time many years ago, recorded in September! I remember the work that went into it and that was only radio. Hi Jan. Your little paintings are gorgeous! Well done even thinking about doing that when you have so many other things to think of!!! Are you going to record that show? I doubt I shall get to see it - I'm having Christmas in Lincoln with Mr and Mrs D - and it's a long way from Wales!!! Those fabrics are great - so beautiful. And as for that tree... fantastic. I'd never have thought of doing anything like that. Folk are just SO creative. Hope you get all the hats made for the chocs.
Take care. God bless.

You sounds so much like it is here Jan....so much to do so little time to do it all....or is it just that we take on too much? I guess at my age I wont be changing now so I will just keep plodding on :-)....and loving every minute of it [apart from the torture at the gym!!].

That looks like a great day out and the triptych is a stunner isn't it. I love all the little wood block decs - another talent there Jan. Now I do hope we can tune in to the Band's film - I bet you all have to be so careful not to let the side down!! (And I don't just mean the occasional wrong note but also your ps and qs!)

What a busy desk this week, I love your wood slices, such gorgeous little pictures - I bet they get snapped up, and the hats are adorable but 48! No wonder you called for backup - knitting is so slow compared to crochet (based on my own abilities!). How exciting to be filmed for TV, despite having to be on best behaviour! I shall look out for that on Christmas Eve.
I love the book tree - what a spectacular window display.
Hope you have a great week,

Amazing experience - being filmed. Certainly gives an insight to how much film is used and how little is shown.
Enjoy yourself .......don't forget to report back....

Your wood slices are adorable Jan and well done for rising to the challenge of knitting 48 more tiny little hats with the help of another volunteer. You should have eaten half the chocolates and then there would have been half the hats to knit ;) I'm not sure we have S4C but someone might put the programme about the band on YT! I would have chosen the tripych as the winner as well. So pretty - I can imagine that it was even more impressive in real life - I can see the texture in the quilting - I did something similar with paper piecing a few years ago, but it's much easier working with paper! The Christmas tree looks awesome as well - and I can see a string of LED lights on it! Have a happy week and thanks for stopping by! zsuzsa #20

Love your tree slices, especially the tree one although i think they would look nice all hung up as a trio. I saw the other things on FB (saw the slices too but hey ho let's pretend I didn't).
Great news about the tv programme - wonder if we can get S4C - we used to but not sure now.
That triptych from the Winter Fair is fabulous! Can imagine I too would have spent ages looking at it. Lovely work all over but this is outstanding.
Are those hares tiles? They are beautiful.
Hugs, Neet 9 xx
ps the only trouble with stamps is that they have a certain life with me, I get bored with them and if I have sent the card out one year it becomes totally redundant the next. Next year I will use Cardio and one other that is under wraps at the moment.

Love your wood slices Jan, they are so pretty. That book tree is amazing, I wonder how many books it took to create it. Those handcrafts are great too, it must have been an enjoyable day out. Angela #25

Hi dear Lunch Lady Jan,
I am trying time do catch up, as last week was very bad commented on zero zilch and that amount of time spare.
However hope to do better this week, a distraction from a whingy leg. If I did nothing think it would be a less whingy shin but really one can’t do nothing unless there’s a Jeeves around 😉😁 and def none here!
Wow, what a post, you’re soon to be stars on Christmas Eve! If there’s an overseas link please let me know! Love wooden sources so beautifully skillfully painted well done on Santa hats too and yes much much easier to buy Fererro Rocher balls than make hats, common sense that but it’s not always common!!! Love the gifted goodies too, what a blessing. 😀
Thanks for Sharing, God bless, hugs Shaz in Oz.x #14 I think

Flicking through all the posts I have missed reinforces what amazing talent you have. Now we can add film starlet (even if you do hide behind the tuba) and artist. The little wooden painted panels are gorgeous.... don't stop painting it just gets more and more fun.
Have a lovely week.

Hi Jan! Thanks for your lovely comment, yes I guess I did need a little time out! It's nice to be back again, and knowing I have people who care on the other side of the world! I peeked through your past posts, and love all the Christmas ornaments, especially the Ferrero Rocher snowmen! Glad you got some help with extra little hats, knitting does take some time! The dragon was awesome, I love medeival things like that, although I would hate to live in those times! Good luck with the programme - I wish we could get it here! Have a wonderful week, I know it will be busy, you seem to have a ton of energy! Lindart #22

Love the wooden slices - if that isnt patient I dont know what is, clever you. You must be seeing daddy knitted hats in your sleep by now - it made me chuckle at the last minute donation..them as don’t do really never quite get it, do they! The book tree is a thing of fabness isnt it. Do you think they spend all year setting aside red and green classic bounds? It must have taken ages to build...that sort of patience I really appreciate!
