EVERYTHING'S COMING UP ROSES...

Another whizzy week has whizzed by and here we are again on Whizzday, sharing our desks and general shenanigans!

There hasn't been much crafting this week:
The desk is bare apart from the newly cleared out/sorted scraps basket and some sunglasses cases that are ready to go down to the cafe.

Bit boring isn't it?!

I cut this Cath Kidston fabric incredibly carefully so as to maximise the output - the two cases on the right have linen backs as there was only enough left for two fronts. It seems to work ok colourwise.

And the other goings on having been in the garden, tidying up and getting some seeds sown. As I don't have a greenhouse here, the dining room table has been commandeered.

G and I were taken to Cardiff by friends at the weekend - the RHS Show was on by the castle. It was a lovely, if chilly day - there was lots to see as usual, here are a few things that caught our eye:

We were welcomed by Bill and Ben, the Flowerpot men at the entrance..

Then by these lovely flower people later on!

There were no show gardens but lots of flowers and plants on display...I fell in love with these tulips...

...and peonies.....

..and alliums with busy bees....

Bonsai trees fascinate me - this acer was perfect and about 40cms tall....

..and this specimen was 144 years old! I can't even keep a house plant going for 6 months....

The show was lovely but G and I escaped and strolled into town for some lunch and a mooch:

Cardiff has some really lovely old arcades - this is the Castle Arcade and reminds me of a Tudor street - or being inside a ship.

G took an arty farty shot of the lamps reflected in the arched mirror - he's got a photography competition on the theme of Repetition and can't decide between the above pic

or this:

It was a lovely day all round!  Hopefully I'll have a bit more crafting to share next week but as it's Easter, Rhys' birthday and my first shift in the new RNLI shop, I don't know how much will get done!!

Hope you have a lovely Easter weekend in the promised glorious weather xxxxxxxx

The glasses cases work beautifully in that kath kidston fabric Jan.
The shopping centre reminds me of the one in Leeds but bigger I think. Lovely photos of the flower show, so cheery. Have a lovely Easter

Looks like you had a great time at the flower show, I'm going to our local in June hope it's as good.
I don't envy G his choosing between this or that, they are both beautiful photos.
Best of luck with your first shift, after an hour it will feel like you've always been there.....

Morning Jan. Hmm.. difficult choice, G!! Don't envy you there. Can you enter twice?? Sounds like you have both had a great week - well done. I just LOVE Bill and Ben and the flower people!! A fantastic thought of the organisers. Trust all your bits and pieces are selling well in the RNLI shop - and will continue to do so.
Take care. God bless.

Well I. Glad to see you recycling and reusing in your planting!!!! Dining table will be perfect, that side of the house is glorious in the sunshine. Lovely pics from Cardiff, those peonies make me swoon. And the ‘repetition’ dilemma? I dunno, but they’re both great pics!

Oooh Jan, what a lovely post! But another one with a pathologically tidy desk... It seems to be catching! Mine, on the other hand, is a tip, as it always is when not in use because it turns into a dumping ground. I've been too busy with other creativity again, and most of my time this week has been spent working on my new website which is very time consuming, but will be worth it in the end I am sure. What a lovely time you must have had at the show. We had those 2 flower people at our county show last year! We are going again this year, next month. One of the best days out of the year for me! I love the way you've used loo rolls for your seedlings. What a good idea. Can be planted out without disturbing the little roots. Must tell my hubby...

Happy WOYWW,

Happy WOYWW. I love that fabric. Almost too good to use! I used to have FQs of gorgeous fabric that I would just stroke occasionally. When I realised that I wasn't going to take on the sewing world with amazing creations, I sold the lot to a lady in America. Perhaps at the age of 48 I have finally learnt that I don't need to try every craft/hobby known to man! Fantastic photos from Cardiff. The Arcade is one of our favourite too. We usually have lunch (or at least drinks/cake in one of the cafes there). Ali x #25

Thanks for your return visit, Jan. So glad you like my little embroidered flowers. I'm afraid my stitch repertoire is pretty limited - have to get the book out to do anything more complicated! I think the variety of colours and stitches does make them all different, despite my limited vocabulary! I've got to devote most of my time to my new website but hopefully it won't be too long before the slippers are finished.

Oh the arcades in Cardiff, reminds me of doing some icecream demonstrating when I was way younger, some 38yrs ago!! Scary. Adore your beach WOYWW photo. It's a year since I really crafted, blogged and linked but hope I'm getting my mojo back. BJ#24

What an interesting and varied post - I am loving the pictures of the arcade, I think I'm leaning towards the top one but they are both fantastic and both worthy of winning, whichever one is chosen. I had to smile when I saw your loo rolls for seedlings, it took me back to being a youngester and my mum having shelves covered with newspaper and hundreds of loo roll innards with little seedlings in - I've never seen anyone else do that before - I just thought we were odd but perhaps it's a 'thing'! The RHS show looks great and your flower pics are beautiful.
Hope you have a great week,

You really have thrown yourself into your community since you moved and you're clearly enjoying it too. Lovely photos of the show and I hope G can decide between the two photos because I'd find it very difficult. Hugs, Elizabeth x #30

Hi Jan, that view of the Castle Arcade is amazing, I don't think I have ever looked up and see those beams.
Thanks for dropping by at my desk, certainly my studio is unusual.
Hope this posts, I am having great difficulty posting on anyone's blog from my tablet, so trying the PC
