SEVEN SEAS OF RYE...

Last week's whiskey theme may continue later ;-)

This blooming bug has lingered on and I have continued to feel quite grim but hopefully am getting there now. I've made a couple more things in the past couple of days so must be feeling a bit more springlike!

Things have been selling well down at the Harbour Lights Cafe, which is great. The tissue holders aren't so popular so I thought I'd try something else. I'd made myself a fabric keyring a while back and friends had admired it so I thought I'd bust some scraps!

I did have a little sort out first as it was a right tip!

Tiny bits of offcut fusible fleece acts as a thin layer of stuffing (it's too expensive to just bin the small bits so they've been kept stashed in a bag), odds and ends of ribbon and some split rings that were bought for this purpose. They look quite nice but I thought a bit of packaging was necessary to make them look a bit more worth the money!

It keeps them tidier in the baskets in the caff too. Hope they sell when the caff reopens in a couple of weeks' time.

I know that a few of you are enjoying seeing G's photos...well, he uses the JanCave quite a bit as there's good light in there. I'm called upon to help, not only with the staging but ideas too. The latest competition was Still Life and G thought he'd use that small bottle of whiskey I was given recently.

So, hunt out a bit of tartan, ask for a loan of our son's Letter Opener (a dagger!), the brooch I wore for Burn's Night, then there's all the lighting jiggery pokery...

Just experimenting with lighting slashes across the tartan but also highlighting the whisky tumbler...

Ta Dah!

Again, no idea if this will tickle the judge's fancy but we had fun setting it up!

Cheers/Iachu Da/Slainte  (delete as applicable, lol)

Have a good week!

Those keyrings are a fab idea Jan and so tactile too.. You could have a little pocket on the back to keep your pound in for your shopping trolley hee hee!!
Whiskey.. so early in the morning (I know i'm very late for the party!!)
Fab photograph, the dagger reminds me of the *skien du* that a Scotsman carries in his sock... my spelling is rubbish as much as the pronunciation but I think it has a *G* in there somewhere!!
That bug is a real pain, don't think i've fully recovered since the New Year.
Happy WOYWW Tracey xx (Not linked up yet.. shhhhh Julia is resting) xx

There seems more and more of us going down with the bugs each week....maybe they are spreading over the blogs? Hope you're feeling 100% very soon. Love the keyrings and am sure they will sell well at that price. I can see why you assist the photographer....I bet the glass is neither 1/2 full or 1/2 empty now....but I'd call you an optimist :-)
Hugs,

Hi Jan,
I'm so sorry you've been unwell, but I'm glad you are on the mend now. The key rings are so sweet, I bet they sell very well - you put me to shame with your ideas as most of my tiny scraps go in the bin - I would never have thought of using them like that.
I love the photo - the moodiness of the lighting is fabulous, and that's one heck of a letter opener your son has there!
Keep warm and cosy,
Hugs, Diana xx

See you have been drinking the whiskey well they do say for medicinal purposes. My husband had a whiskey every night and rarely suffered from colds or flu. Ani 14

Good morning Jan, feeling better is always good. And it's a great day when you can use of stash, and bits and pieces of anything on projects. Love the key rings. Nicely displayed. But I love the set up and photo G has made. It is great. That whiskey with hot honey will do winter wonders in staying well. Have a good week . #19 hAPPY heaRT DaY.

Takes ages to get over this bug, so take things easy.
I love the keyrings, and the packaging will make them so much easier to handle without damaging them.
Well done.

Hi Jan, sorry to hear you are still suffering, it does seem to linger.
Your posts are always so colourful and I really like those key rings, a great idea to use scraps. I imagine someone had the job of drinking the whiskey after the photo shoot, LOL

Hats off to the dynamic duo in charge of photography - what a lovely still life you have come up with. Well done!
Sorry you are still under the weather, some times these things take a bit longer than we want. Remember fluids and rest.
Mind you `I think a little sewing is ok - I imagine you are like me and find it hard to sit doing nothing. Fingers crossed for the keyrings - they are delightful.
Hugs, Neet xx 11
ps yes, the bedroom is finished but at what a price ... my bad back is still with me.
