RIDING ALONG ON MY PUSHBIKE HONEY.....

Well, that was a crazy week, two separate lots of visitors within 6 days...the guest room bedding has never been so well washed!! But some crafting did get done, woohoo :-D

Here's the desk in the crafty aftermath:
Tangled cords and scraps of fabric waiting to be put away - my box file full of cardboard templates is on the left. They're supposedly sorted out into groups but that system doesn't last long....

I made some drawstring PE Bags to sell for the RNLI -
I love this nautical fabric, it was part of a fat quarter bundle from Hobbycraft - my brother Steve saw it and thought it would be great for his dancing shoes. Old Twinkletoes does Ballroom and Jive dancing so it'll get used a lot.

A demo shot with Steve's trainers sticking out - they do fit in, this was for artistic effect, lol!!

Then I used some of the Marvel Superheroes fabric:
This worked really well - I'm looking out for a craft show now.....or maybe Steve fancies another shoe bag!!

And another, using up some contrasting fabric:

My nephew, his wife and my 8 week old great-nephew came to stay as well and I thought the Marvel fabric would make a great bandanna bib:

Fun huh?! I used some towelling for the lining and another of those colourful poppers to fasten. This was so easy to make, I did another in the fishy fabric but forgot to take a pic of that. I also made Leo some bunting:

He's got a lot of lion stuff so I thought a seaside theme would be a bit different!

If you're interested, the Cycle Tour of Britain starts on Sunday at the Pembrey Country Park which is just down the road. TV coverage is on ITV4 at 10.45 - there should be some great shots of 'my' beach and the lovely countryside around. The council are pulling out all the stops to make the route look good, there are lots of green painted bikes around the villages at the moment with this outside the County Hall in Carmarthen itself:

It must be 10 metres tall! Perfect for the Jolly Green Giant, I should think :-D  So please don't call me on Sunday morning, I shall be glued to the screen!!

Have a great week!

Morning Jan. Sounds fantastic, doesn't it, that the crop is in LA - Hope folks don't book plane tickets... Not long now 'til we all get together - Are you and Julia sorted??
I love all the bits and pieces you have made this last week - my desk looks positively puny in comparison! That little bandana is so CUTE!
Take care, lass. God bless.

Must look out for those beaches/bikes.
What fantastic makes you have on show - love the nautical themed fabric and the Marvel comic book stuff is so colourful it will surely be a hit. Bet baby looks fab in his bandana type bib and his bunting is sure to keep his eyes occupied, if not his hands if he gets hold of it at any time.
Hope you get time to rest before ... the Crop ... so excited "I could crush a grape!"

Catching up from no visit last week and looks like you had a great time away ! I was totally energized when I saw the Super Hero fabric! Definitely cute fab for your projects. I think you live in a beautiful area, I enjoy the outdoor photos, my dream seems more distant all the time. Living by water is so relaxing. Happy WOYWW

Hi Jan, love all those bags, especially the super hero fabric, our GS would love that one as he's into all that stuff.
I hope the cycling is on TV so we can watch it, is that the one that Chris Froome and Geraint Thomas are taking part in?

Happy WOYWW. Fab sewing projects - and the fabrics are brilliant. It is not cold enough for me to get my sewing machine out yet (I only seem to sew, knit and felt in the winter!). We will be camping at Pembrey this weekend, so I can wave my flag whenever I see G and Froomey! Buzz the dog is coming too (just ordered him a Union Jack bandanda!) - and hoping that we can fit my electric bike in, so I can go for a short pedal. Ali x #22

You always make the most of your fabrics, Jan! I bet not a single tiny piece ever goes to waste! Hey, you could get yourself on camera when the TV crew is there - just wave in the background! It will be nice to have the house to yourself for a while now that the visitors are gone. Have a lovely week! zsuzsa #24

Hi Jan, oh my goodness you put me to shame! Where do you find the time? The Marvel Comic fabric looks great - my grandsons would love that. They have Marvel quilts at my house, but I confess I bought them. I love the bunting too - Maybe I will look at getting a sewing machine at Christmas, and I can take up sewing again! Then again, would I find the time? Thanks for stopping by earlier- I laughed out loud at your comment about labelling your husband and the cat! I'm looking forward to meeting you too. Have a lovely week Heather #11

Lovely bags! I bought three of those several years ago at a craft show and use then every trip. I either pack shoes in them or this time my power cords for phone and iPad! Very handy. :).
I promise not to call you during the bike event! LOL. #33

Oooh Jan, love the nautical shoe bag! The white cord goes perfectly with the nautical theme. What fun your projects are, and I am sure you will be raking in the money for RNLI. Congrats on the baby great nephew too.

Thank you for your comment and I'm glad you approve of my little butterflies! I've got a lot of flowers to make, and then some tassels, and then the fun begins - putting them all on the scarf. It might just be ready in time for this winter!

Happy belated WOYWW,

Lovely shoe bags! I've got so much pretty fabric that I really should make some of these for the kids at school - it would be so much nicer than all those plastic bags! have a happy week. TFS, Jo x #36

Logan still has his pirate bunting up in his room and we put our Christmas bunting up every year! Guess what? I signed up to a mixed media and textiles adult ed class - it's all hand sewing I'm assured and absolute newbies are welcomed. I'm hoping I can fit it in to work alongside the uni degree - I have been wanting to add textiles to my illustrations for ages but apparently the textiles crew at uni are territorial about their area. My tutor sneaked me in last term for a look around and it confirmed what I wanted to do. I have been learning basic stitches so I don't look a complete fool but am very excited about it all. I visited my local fabric shop yesterday and basically just handed her my bank card but she was lovely and so helpful - I can see me visiting often.

I love your bags and the little bib is so cute!
Thank you for coming to see me already. I hope to keep it up but my memory is shocking!

I admit to being in awe of your textile talents! I can't sew a straight line at all. I tried to quilt and spent more time pulling out stitches than quilting! Thanks for the pop by!

I love the shoes sticking out of the shoebag... it made me giggle as I thought they didn't fit and was wondering, that is so NOT you... ha, it was for the artistic effect! I'm jaelous you have the bike race nearby... I don't have ITV or my television either (only BBC 1) Bummer, I would have loved to watch and wave to your beach/you! After painting (the lilac case - yep, it's lilac now. I haven'd decide about next steps still... sashiko stitches? naahhh.... flowers? maybe...) my beloved and I spend some quality time last week going for walks and such so I'm pretty late with my visit, it's almost weekend already! Enjoy, enjoy. Love from the Netherlands. Marit #20

Great fabrics! I saw the super heros and saw mats for cards LOL. And yes, fabric is a weakness for me as well. Stopped into my local quilt shop the other day for her to let me know they'll be setting the date for the shop hop soon. I refuse to look LOL. Steve is a smart, and apparently talented, man. I love to dance though Im sure I'm no where near his level. See ya tomorrow. Creative Blessings! Kelly #27
