ON A DARK DESERT HIGHWAY, COOL WIND IN MY HAIR
WARM SMELL OF COLITAS RISING UP THROUGH THE AIR...

Goodness, it's been another busy seven days, two lengthy road trips, one for a funeral, the other for a party and lots of other goings-on too.

The desk:

I was in the mood to do some sewing so made another few bags for Margaret Glitter & Glue's charity. There's a pile of finished ones by the machine and some more fabric waiting to be cut out on the left.

The pale side is the 'right' side but I like the reverse of the fabric just as much, so these bags aren't going to be lined - the fabric is tough enough to make a bag on its own!

G and I went up to the Midlands to attend my brother and SiL's joint 125th birthday barn dance - we left the house early in order to meet up with some reprobates beforehand:

Shaz and Doug Silverwolf!! We haven't seen each other for ages so it was really lovely to just sit and have a catch up - I don't think we drew breath, lol!! Shaz was looking great after all her recent health upheaval and Doug never changes - we didn't have enough time though as G and I had to pick our son and fiancee up from the station. See you in Sept Shaz, if not before!!

The hotel that we stayed at was a converted convent and was quite idiosyncratic - but fun too. They were into calligraphy in a big way:

This made us smile!

And this looked like it was from some old poem - but G knew straight away it was the lyrics from Hotel California by the Eagles! Hence today's title :-D

There were lots of interesting nooks and crannies all over the hotel - even the stairs offered different viewpoints:
It's a bit like a picture by Escher! I have no idea which way is up......

The barn dance was awesome - the Willow was well and Truly stripped!  The band were fantastic with a really great caller, so after the first dance when everyone made fools of themselves, we soon got sorted and didn't do too badly for the rest of the night.  I took a photo of the band's name as it was appropriate:

I didn't see any wool or needles but they might have been stashed away!!

I am out today so if any of you are kind enough to comment, my replies are going to be very late in return.

Have a great week! xxxxxx

Gosh, that sounds a great night and takes me back to my college days - or rather graduation.
Fab photo of the four of you and how lovely to meet up for lunch.
The fabric you are about to use reminded me of furnishing fabric when I first saw it and I too like both sides of it. I would be tempted to use one side for one side of the bag and vive versa, or handles change?
Hugs, Neet 3 xx
ps roll on September

What fabulous fabric Jan. I'm with you - the wrong side is my fav but both are really lovely so perfect contrast from the same material.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time meeting up with Shaz.

It sounds like it’s been quite a week for you and fancy managing a meet up with Shaz and Doug too....how special. It’s good to see you all together looking so happy. Love the bag making....I keep intending to ask Margaret info about the bags but didn’t see her joining in the fun last week. I’m sure I have a metre or twenty of fabric that could be used to make some bags.
Hope you have a great week.

Morning Jan. Many thanks for visiting already. What a great time with the reprobates!!! Very Escher indeed! That stair photo is amazing. How can I thank you for those amazing bags? They are just lovely. The children will so enjoy them. By all means leave sending them until I get back. I leave after church on Sunday and get back in time for church the following week! There's still plenty of time before the team go out in July.
Gordon is right - the Welsh Highland is a fantastic trip - two hours of sitting amongst God's glorious creation - a fun way to spend a day - can't do anything except sit and gaze.
Take care lass. God bless.

Just been to Shaz's blog, love the pics of you 2 couples!! How fun!
As to your fabric, I like the darker side... sounds like something out of a Star Wars movie. Oh well. Great door, strange but beautiful picture, and a barn dance with a fun band! Great times! Hope you have a wonderful week!

Hi Jan, lovely photo of you all having a fab catch up. Love all the photos from the hotel too ... makes it more memorable if there's a bit of quirkiness thrown in. We were serenaded by our host in the hotel we stayed at the weekend - firstly with bagpipes (playing Highland Cathedral) and then with a rendition of Strangers on the Shore on the clarinet - and all while we ate breakfast. I agree with you about that fabric - it looks good whichever way. Have a wonderful week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #25

Gorgeous fabric, really glad you are not covering up the backside :)

That hotel looks amazing - so many things to explore.

Thanks for visiting mine - Roo now has now printed her lino print and has lost two of them to Devon and Craig now she's talking about charging anyone else. I think she has a new career in her sights!! She signed Devvies so that when she is famous Devon can sell it for millions! Talk about modesty!
