IT AIN'T WHAT YOU DO, IT'S THE WAY THAT YOU DO IT
AND THAT'S WHAT GETS RESULTS.....

A couple of things before we kick off into Desk Mode today - if you follow me on Bloglovin' then I have deleted my account there so you may find I don't pop up in your feed anymore. And thank you for the various tips on how to deal with the BPOs  (B****y Peel Offs)...I think they might be a step too far for me..the aggravation factor completely outweighs the satisfaction!

My card making took a different turn this week - my son gave me a beautiful Mother's Day card with a paper-cut front. Well, it HAD to be recycled...look:

Pretty huh? Well, I had fun with a craft knife and 5 minutes later.....

...had deconstructed it into several pieces. Also, the back of that navy card had rather lovely stripes on so I used that instead. In all, I made three new cards from the one! I did ask R if it was ok to do all this first :-D

It struck me that I need to do some sewing as well and I thought I'd make some more bags for Margaret's charity so the fabric stash was upended onto the JanCave table again!

Well, a small part of it anyway! I sorted out the stuff that I don't think I'll use again and cut out another 8 bags' worth.

And this is the final piece of this fabric - I must have got this 7 or so years ago, there was just enough to make one bag. Bye bye fabric, I've really enjoyed your muted tones, great typefaces and design - you're going to be used for a great cause.

The weird upsy-downsy weather has continued this week but Sunday was a gorgeous day, blue skies, sunshine, warm. Hooray!! I know it's going to change again by the end of the week but G and I made the most of this day and went for a walk.  This magnificent Norman Castle is in the next village:

It's a beauty! We didn't go in this time but walked all around and up lots of hills!

Can you imagine being an attacker and facing an assault on this? No, me neither - no wonder sieges and undermining the foundations were the most effective ways of achieving a surrender! And I know it's wrong of me but I kept expecting to see the Monty Python and the Holy Grail mob peering over the battlements  :-D

Have a great week!

chuckling at the thought of Monty Python appearing over the battlements, no Knights that say Ni, either? how disappointing... gorgeous castle though. am very impressed with your recycling of your Mother's Day card - great results! Helen #??

Hi Jan, you know you've caught the paper crafting bug when you start recycling cards lol. Good to see that you haven't given up with the fabric! Have a great week. Sarah #7

Are you trying to de-stash? Love the last piece of fabric - now could I have parted with it? It's like some papers, I don't use them, won't use them but never look at them and they stay where they are - for what???? Must get out of these silly habits.
Great up cycling - but again, I save all my cards. And I ask myself "why?"

Love what you have done to your Mothering Sunday card. Three from one, I am a great one for recycling cards probably because I don't have access to craft shops here. Enjoy your week. Ani#6

heheheh yes, I thought Monty Python as soon as I saw that beautiful picture. You really do have some wonderful scenery around you Jan and our photos would make fabulous postcards.
I'm glad to see you're enjoying the cardmaking :o) Happy WOYWWday. Annie C #15

I looked at the picture before the text and thought you had made the original card - still impressed with your recycling though!! Love the castle. Remember doing a tour in Granada one year and being blown away by the concept of knights in armour struggling up the hills and fighting especially in the heat so yeah, you can see why castles were pretty good defensively!! Now, why a Llama? Well my daughter bought a pressie for a friend's little one - a dress with Llama's on and Llama wrapping paper. So we will try and match the card. I know what you mean though, why do people make so much fuss about a card for a child under 3 or 4 probably. I had to put the 'atom' symbol on a card the other day. I managed it but did seem a bit weird!! It's obviously aimed at the parents. A teddy would have been easier. Oh well, I do advertise custom cards.....

Happy WOYWW. Lovely recycling of a lovely card. I can see why you liked that fabric. I would scan it (or use a photo of it) and use in papercrafting. I am a big fan of castles (which is good, as they have fantastic ones in Spain too). I can recommend Pembroke (perhaps we could meet up there one day when the weather is warmer), Carew and Manorbier, but also more ruined ones like Cilgerran and Llawhaden. I will be in touch re. meeting up again - been hectic here. Ali x #23

Love the castle pictures! Sweet of R to understand your desire to de-construct your card. You have to admit, he knew what his mom would like. I love your bags. You seem to always have some in progress. Creative Blessings! Kelly #29

Jan, that was a beautiful thoughtful card from your son. Well done with recycling.
You just need to be careful walking around those old castle they have given up coconuts for empty beer cans.

Please stop by for a glass or two of wine. Well even a bottle or two on the deck. Easter is projected to be dry and sunny. Now we are having thunderstorms that keep missing us but hitting the rivers and lakes to the north so we just get grey weather and flooding.

Hi Jan, so often you have me chuckling loudly at some weird image you've conjured up and this week is no exception. Monty Python indeed ... I can see it now. You did a fab job recycling that card - 3 for 1 is quite a feat. That is such a delicate paper cut I'm not sure I would have had the nerve. Have a wonderful week. Hugs, Elizabeth x #28

Hi Jan, I recycle cards I receive too, but for some reason not the ones from my husband, my daughters and my grandchildren. Maybe I am getting sentimental in my old age! Glad to see you are continuing with the card making. And the postcard fabric looks fab ... shame it is all gone. Have a lovely week Heather x #37

Your cards are gorgeous and I never would have thought to do anything like that, what a fab idea.

I love the castle and was actually thinking Monty Python and then you said it :D

You saying about your son - can you believe Devvie is 21 this month and is in her final year doing her dissertation? I asked her if she'd reapplied for finance and she was like "Mum. I don't need to. I'm done after this!" What? How? Aaargh! My tutor asked me the other day if I'd thought about going on to an MA. Oh how I'd love to, I don't know if I could afford it though, not sure if you can still apply for help - I swear I'm just addicted to learning.

Thank you for the lovely welcome back x x x

oh, p.s you don't need to have a Blog Lovin' account for people to follow you. I'm always adding blogs to my BL list where they definitely don't have an account and I still get regular updates.

It's always better to recycle than throw it away though I do often keep some of my cards as inspiration too. Loving that Post card fabric it looks like some Tim Holtz style ones. I am about to have a clear out too in my case it has to be stamps first. Hope you have a great woyww, Angela x19x

What a creative way to reuse that gorgeous card! Kudos to your son to choose something so pretty - great taste must run in the family! It must be sad to say goodbye to the last piece of fabric of its kind - I would have been tempted to keep it for sentimental reasons (you know, for stroking) but that's just me being selfish, whereas you always think of the higher cause! I love medieval castles - I know there are quite a few in Wales - this one reminds me of Caerphilly castle we visited a few years back. I associate them more with Lord of the Rings than Monty Phython though, LOL! Thanks for visiting yesterday, Jan! Wishing you a lovely Easter! zsuzsa #11

WOW you are really on a card making roll! I fell into it the same way almost 10 years ago now...never had made a card but did a lot of sewing until I started the paper arts. LOVE it all now! Really like the recycling aspect of the card but unfortunately my hoarder nature would have made me keep it intact...my daughter would love it if I did recycle more. I feel an episode of The Hoarders intervention in my future! Like the print and type of that one fabric too! Hope you are having a great week! Thanks for visiting my blog earlier...I am late getting around as usual! Vickie #39
